  1. I'm thinking about getting my wife a shotgun to give me for Christmas. I like everything tactical. I would prefer pump action. Short barrel. What would be your recomendation for one not too pricey, just reliable? The shotgun is about the only thing I don't have. You can say cannons, but I have them too.
  2. Try a Lefty AR sometime if you get a chance. They are designed for left handers. Like a Stag Model - L.
  3. Sounds about right to me. It will take a while to really catch on. I don't want to mention the name of the store, but it was on the main drag just down the road from the entrance. I have been shooting Barrett ammo. The Outpost armory usually stocks it and plenty of other brands. The REC7 would be nice, but pricey for me. I've got the Stag Model 5. With the price of my ACOG, I would be pretty close, but no ACOG. I'll keep the Stag and ACOG. Thanks for the input.
  4. What's up with a Gun and Tactictal Dealer close to Ft. Campbell saying 6.8 is being phased out? Do I need to dump this thing fast?
  5. I liked the RX-30 alot, it is one awesome sight, But, in the end I decided to buy an Acog for this rifle. I needed magnification. Saved up more money. I could have bought a flip to side magnifier and even paid more overall than the Acog. Just got the A.R.M.S mount for it. I wish someone would make a flip-to-side mount for the Acog. That way I could go to Iron sights right away. I did some work by Ft. Campbell Ky. and stopped in the local gun shops. One person said that the 6.8 was going to be phased out. Are there any opinions on this? Are 6.8's being phased out???
  6. Very nice. Not too bright during the day, just right at night. With the ARMS mount it lines up with the buis so you stay used to the same feel all the time. Just right for me.
  7. Well I added a Trijicon RX-30 with ARMS throw lever mount. I decided to go with the GG&G gas block with flip-up sight and flip up rear sight also. Any recomendation for the gas piston conversion that works well with the 6.8? I would like to keep my UTG 4-rail handguard, that's where thr problem comes in. Thanks for any input.
  8. I don't have a caliper on hand and don't trust an eyeball judgement. If I get a 5" 9mm barrel will it accept 1/2" threads? I have a friend who owns a Tool and Dye shop. He actually does a lot of work for Barrett. I could trust his work anyday.
  9. Well I picked up a Springfield XD9 for me Today. I shot my wife's Yesterday and fell in love with it. Standing shots grouping 3" @ 20 yards with a 3" barrel. So now if I get a 9mm suppressor I can use it on both firearms. It won't suppress the 6.8 correctly, but maybe enough to where hearing protection may not be required. I've been having trouble finding a threaded barrel for my XD. Any suggestions?
  10. Thanks for all of the good input. I ended up with the Trijicon RX-30 with an A.R.M.S. throw lever mount. It lines up perfectly with my iron sights. The discussions of the battery life got me to thinking, why not use No batteries? The Trijicon uses Tritium and self adjusts the brightness to the light conditions. I tested this before I bought it. It works perfectly. I can use a magnifier with .308 drop and also buy a NV extension. I was turned off of the Aimpoint by the long scope style, and the Eotech by the batt. life. I now have a Sightmark Ultra-Shot to sell. I'll take 75. It's similar to the Eotech, just a little smaller and not waterproof. 4 reticle types+Green or Red. Once again, Thanks for all of the valuable input, it really gave me a great perspective of what's important to a wide range of actual users.
  11. I've narrowed it down to the Trijicon probably or maybe Eotech. I was using a Sightmark Ultra-Shot. It's a good sight, but I want waterproof. I'm kind of leaning towards Trijicon because of no batteries. I'm going to list the Sightmark on E-bay to move it for $75.00. to help with the huge difference in price. I found a Trijicon with mount for $479 that lines up with the iron sights as does the Sightmark. I found that I don't really like the scope feel of the Aimpoint, I perfer the thinner glass for both eyes open shooting.
  12. How would they increase the diameter of the barrel from 1/2" to 5/8" to thread it? I could understand taking it down a size but not up.
  13. So with the adapter, could I get an actual 6.8mm suppressor? If not, what would be the purpose of the adapter?
  14. I have a Stag Model 5 and want a suppressor for it. However it's 6.8mm with a thread of 1/2-36. Does anyone make one that will work correctly. That is a 9mm thread, but if I put a 9mm supprressor on a 6.8mm barrel, will it suppress correctly? It dosen't seem so to me. Thanks for any input.
  15. I've purchased a Stag Model 5 6.8. I want to get a quick sight for it and am not sure if I should go with the Eotech or the Aimpoint. I don't want to buy both just to see which one I like best, so I'm asking for likes and dislikes about both, or even the Trijicon Reflex. I want to shoot with both eyes open for better retrospect of the surrounding conditions. I added the 4-rail handguard so I can extend either for a magnifier later if I choose to. I have BUIS I like to use mostly, and would like any system to line up with them in case of failure. Any input would help me greatly. Thanks.
  16. Well Dennis at Guns and Leather came through for me. I got a Stag Model 5. It shoots great. I've already added an Alum. 4-Rail, Hoague grip, Carry handle, Tactical scope w/laser, QD sling and stock with butt pad and cheek rests. This thing is sweet. Now I just need to stock up on ammo. I traded off all my 5.56 ammo. Got my wife the Springfield XD9 the same day so she's happy too.
  17. I'm still waiting for a 6.8 to arrive at the gun shop. I'm still waiting for now. They say they haven't seen a 7.62 for several months. 7.62 would be a happy choice for me because I'm not a little fella. The 7.62 rounds are available in bulk at the Outpost Armory. I'm not sure if the 7.62 is available with a 16" barell and adjustable stock. I've been waiting for a Stag Model 5 from Guns and Leather. I'll go with the 6.8 if I can get one before I get completely tired of waiting. I want to shoot my rifle. I'll pay for what I want, but what good is that if you can't get either one? Not really interested in the uppers. Why not just have Two rifles?
  18. I have a brand new Bushmaster M4A3 which is .223. I am wanting to return it to swap for a 6.8 mm. I am interested in some feedback from other members for their opinion on this subject. I imagine it has been covered before, however, Maybe opinions have changed somewhat since then. I have called the manuf's and all say between 4-10 Months for a new one. SOOOO, In your opinion, Should I wait to shoot this New AR, and retain it's return value, Or is there an opinion in which would make my decision permanant? I have 1 extra Alum. magazine, also 1 Magpull composite mag. 19 tracer,19 fed. and 100 XM-193 rounds. I have a collection of ammo in my office, that's why there is 19 of each. I keep 1 of every kind of round of gun I have. I Just had to keep One Tracer also. I would be willing to give all the 223 magazines and ammo with the Bushmaster to trade for a 6.8 just plain. Am I going in the right direction, or just being stupid without enough education? I've been thinking about knock down power vs. carry weight. Thanks for any Serious opinions you may have to offer.
  19. Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to enjoying this site. I've been shooting since I was 4, with help of course. My favorite moment was with a .410 .22 over/under. Target shooting. I didn't know my Uncle put the .410 shell in it. I was expecting the .22. I guess that was funny. Anywho, If anyone has a place to shoot close to Hendersonville, Let me know. You'll be welcome to shoot my guns for the invite. Springfield 1911 w/Crimson Trace MPA 30SST 9mm 1916 Remington .22 long semi. rifle > old but very accurate. New Bushmaster AR-15 M4A3, However want to trade for a 6.8 before firing. .410 Deringer > Strange, but made in Tennessee. 20. Just wanted to pop in and say Hey. I've been watching this site for a few days and like it very much. Thanks everyone for all of the info., I've gotten from your posts.
  21. No shooting AR's at Guns and Leather. I bought one there and they wouldn't even let me fire it once. If you find somewhere local to Hendersonville Please let me know. I haven't been to the Gallatin range, or know where it is.
