How many times have you come out/gone in a gas station while a car was pulling up? How much time would you really have to realize that the person getting out of the vehicle has a gun? Would you really have time to draw your own before the perp already had his gun trained on you?If it happened that fast, I doubt that I would have time to react.

At 25ft my groups are around 6"-9". The M&P is the first semi-auto that I have owned. I also have a Llama .357, but I don't shoot it much.

According to the analysis target I am doing mainly D (Squeezing whole hand with trigger) with a little F (Jerking) as well. If that's accurate I never would have guessed that I was squeezing my whole hand. I know I also will occasionally anticipate the recoil which puts my shots in the I group, so that seems fairly accurate. Interesting info! Thanks

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll have to remember and print this off before I go to the range next time.

A few facts first: 1) I'm left handed and right eye dominant. 2) I mainly shoot in the isosceles/modern isosceles stance 3) My experience level with handguns is probably only high beginner or low moderate. 4) S&W M&P9 I have 2 problems: 1) My shots are consistently low and to the right of where I think I'm aiming. 2) I can't keep the gun from bobbing around a little while aiming. The longer I shoot the more pronounced this becomes. Can anyone give me any pointers as to what I'm doing wrong?

Correct me if I'm wrong , but the Bible doesn't say anything about killing idolaters (i.e. infidels) btw, this is the complete passage. I didn't shorten it or cut anything out.

Link still doesn't work.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway. I thought tracer rounds were not legal for civilians? This leads to the next logical question. If they are legal, where can I get my hands on some?

As a transplant from IL myself, I'd like to vote that we give Chicago to Canada. It is ridiculous that 1 city can exert that much influence over the rest of the state. Especially considering that the rest of the state is mostly rural.

Shamelessly stolen from the MP-Pistol forums:

Wouldn't the unbuttoned shirt have a tendency to blow open while walking? I know mine usually do it seems.

If you do not have a HCP then you man NOT have your weapon loaded while in the vehicle, regardless of whether or not it is in reach. The weapon must be unloaded and the ammunition kept seperate (out of reach?) of the weapon. If you have your HCP then, of course, your firearm may be loaded and within reach (on your hip ) Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe it matters whether or not the firearm is in sight or not. Since TN is not a concealed only state and open carry is legal.

and as long as you hit the silhouette it counts as a "hit".

You're a better shot than I am and I had absolutely no trouble with the shooting portion of the class. The shooting distances are 3, 7, and 15 yards, which translates to 9, 21 and 45 feet. I took the class about 2 months ago in Greenbriar, TN. Once I submitted my paperwork and fingerprints it took about a month or so for my permit to arrive in the mail. I too am a transplant from IL. Been here about 10 years now and love it. Illinois is death on guns (pun intended), but hopefully one day that will change.

For my birthday my wife got me a gift certificate to Guns and Leather. Before I went down there I checked our bank balance and saw that we had been charged twice for the amount of the gift certificate. I was pretty pissed about so I went down to the store with the attitude of "If they don't take care of this problem I will never buy from them again". The owner happened to be there that day and when I explained about the double charges he immediately went and looked through his records and receipts. And ya know what? It wasn't his fault. It was the @$#%# banks fault. But the way he handled the situation and the speed with which it was resolved greatly impressed me. It's customer service like this that will keep me coming back.

I probably misinterpreted what he said. I thought that he had told me he could tell I have an HCP by running my plates, but that doesn't make a lot of sense. As you said, it is tied to your DL and not your vehicle registration. -

I asked an officer that I know, in the western TN area, what his personal policy is when he stops someone for speeding who also has a carry permit. His policy (and I'm paraphrasing here): --Before coming to a stop he pulls up close enough to the vehicle to read the license plate --Runs plate (and sees that you have a HCP) --approaches vehicle (don't remember if he said he has his hand on his weapon or not) --asks if you have any firearms on or in your vehicle --disarms you --unloads your weapon and places it on hood or roof of your vehicle --gives ticket --hands unloaded weapon back to you --asks that you do not reload weapon until you have left the scene --end of story Now I intensely dislike the idea of the officer being able to disarm me!! I am a law abiding citizen, minus the occasional speeding ticket, and have done nothing to deserve being treated this way. BUT looking at it from his viewpoint I can see why he would. He doesn't know me from Adam and he has a very strong desire to go home at night to his wife (his words). So with that in mind, the safest thing for HIM and HIS safety is make sure that I am unarmed. -

Absolutely correct. They do not have free reign to confiscate any of my lawful property. However, if the officer in question decides to "make up" a reason to keep my firearm then there's nothing I can/will do to stop him. Argrue--Absolutely! Assault/Fight--Not a chance. But I guarantee that the first call I make will be to a darn good lawyer, because I'm suing him, the department, the city, his dog, etc.. -

Food for thought TCA 39-17-1351(t) Any law enforcement officer of this state or of any county or municipality may, within the realm of the officer's lawful jurisdiction and when the officer is acting in the lawful discharge of the officer's official duties, disarm a permit holder at any time when the officer reasonably believes it is necessary for the protection of the permit holder, officer or other individual or individuals. The officer shall return the handgun to the permit holder before discharging the permit holder from the scene when the officer has determined that the permit holder is not a threat to the officer, to the permit holder, or other individual or individuals provided that the permit holder has not violated any provision of this section and provided the permit holder has not committed any other violation that results in the arrest of the permit holder. -
Your sig doesn't mean what I think it means, does it?

Good idea! This sounds like a great compromise and I would feel better if it was in a safe rather than locked in the glove box. Isn't there something in the law that refers to reasonable intelligence and interpretation? I don't see any other way this law could be interpreted. I, however, hope to never have to test whether the DA agrees or not.

Actually, my work truck IS my personal vehicle. I do not have a company owned vehicle.

I am a contractor and frequently have to perform service work at public schools and several local colleges. I was under the impression that I was not allowed to have a weapon in my car unless I was picking someone up or dropping them off, but after reading this I'm not so sure. I know, without a doubt, that I am not allowed to carry my weapon on my person while at these schools. My question is "Am I allowed to leave the weapon locked in my vehicle while it is parked on school property?" It is not an offense for a nonstudent adult to possess a firearm, if such firearm is contained within a private vehicle operated by the adult and is not handled by such adult, or by any other person acting with the expresses or implied consent of such adult, while such vehicle is on school property.
