7-year-old faces felony charges for BB gun incident
Worriedman replied to billyscott's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
For a compendium of incidents in my misspent youth, I received a number of "spankings" if one wished to term them that, as did my acquaintances and friends when our actions warranted. They were applied with such tenacity that I can never remember having that corporal punishment issued for the same offense twice, ever, as they left an indelible mark on the memory as to what was acceptable, and what was not. I suppose the reason I lived past 10 was due to the fact that I prefered not to receive any more of them than was absolutely necessary. -
Having delved into the policy makers and those who rule the Parties, one can only imagine that Dunn, Frist and Alexander are going to be the ones picking the candidates whoever is supposed to make the choices. Keep in mind, Haslam and Harwell are key campaign managers, and, have always been for Alexander. The 17th Amendment is what makes being a Federal senator the safest job in America. If you can bring the bacon home to your moneyed supporters, you ride that train till you fall witless from the throne, Ted Kennedy and Strom Thurman come to mind, (even if they were out of their's while still "serving"). The 17th is what birthed "career" politicians. If there were true change to the power structure involved in Niceley's bill, I would have been all over it, but if you read the text, it simply makes the money move through the legislators on its way to the candidates, letting them skim a little and control a little more power than if the depositors simply deal direct with the candidates themselves.

Moratorium on pejorative "creative" misspellings
Worriedman replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Two chances of that happening on TGO, None, and Absolutely None. But I agree with your premise. -
Keep in mind, the people who have control of the legislators are the ones who hand out committee appointments and lucre from the Caucus PACs. If the collective thinks that letting the triumvirate (Haslam, Harwell and Ramsey) pick your next Senator is a good thing all you have to do is check the conservative bills that have made it to Public Chapter in the last two years... Want to work on repealing the 17th Amendment, I am your boy, will be right in front holding a flag. Under the original plan, the State Legislature could recall the Senators at their discretion if they failed to satisfy the State, I would be all for that!

Brian, did you check with anyone at NSSF before running your story? Funny thing, I talked to their council this morning, and he disagreed totally with your contention that they, or the people they work for, (Firearm manufacturers and retailers) support "universal background checks". Just who was your contact there that told you that the idea "picked up key support last week from the National Shooting Sports Foundation"?

Interesting article from the Tennessean
Worriedman replied to billyscott's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
They (government) will not be able to achieve their goals of universal registration without universal background checks. The low information types who agree to give up this last vestige of Rights will see the instant regulation which will lead to confiscation shortly after the government can force registration. I believe that unless we push back against this initiative, private ownership of firearms by the general non-military or police is doomed. -

I get this from the NSSF web site, seems quite a stretch to intimate that they (NSSF) support private sale background check requirements. I had a nice conversation with their lead council this AM, I suspect that the Tennessean and our friend Mr. Haas will be receiving some communication from that quarter shortly. -

I too would like to see where the NSSF supports the universal background checks. -
IMPORTANT 2ND Am Bill Needs help in Tennessee
Worriedman replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Has everything to do with how Speaker Harwell sees the bill. -
Do we then need to start requiring our Officers to CC instead of OCing? Should all Police cars be unmarked so that our LEOs are not targeted and killed by the bad guys? Do they need to shed uniforms and start going undercover?

When Did TN Lose Long Gun Carry And Why?
Worriedman replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You are legal to carry a long gun with ammunition in the magazine inside your vehicle ONLY if you have obtained your Handgun Carry Permit, otherwise you must have no ammunition in the magazine, thought in the recent past a public chapter was introduced that did not any longer require weapon and ammunition to be separated by compartment. -
I understand now, and yes, you do have to recheck bags and go through TSA security to make a connector at Houston (same as Detroit). It is a ll a pain in our collective hinney, instituted to be such, hoping the average traveler is low information by nature who will call their reps and suggest higher taxes. Was not working out that way Wednesday night, crowd was very vocal, and the most heard word was f******sequester, uttered without hyphenation.

Never intimated that TSA had anything to do with customs. Was remarking on the number of TSA agents sitting on their cans while only 4 were working the security station at Memphis in response to your comment about connection though DC, and figuring TSA would be responsible for your transfer and, from what I have seen at Dulles they are not any snappier up there then they are at Memphis. But then you might be coming in from out of country instead of just making a US connection through there. And from the last couple of commercial trips I have made, the TSA scanner might only take a minute, but the back up to get to it is running longer and longer. I much prefer to take our King Air 200, cuts out a lot of BS.

It is the US Citizen/permanent resident side at customs, Immigration for aliens is next over and to the right. It is manned by Border Patrol agents, there is one more "check point/access control" to get back into the terminal at large after you pick up your checked baggage, but the "gates" you see in the photo are where you declare what you are bringing in, and they look at your customs declaration card, check your passport etc. If I have to start going more often, I will jump into the Global Entry Program as well. The people who were really ticked were the airline crews, they were having to go through with the rest of the great unwashed.

Flying out of Memphis, saw 32 (counted them) TSA agents sitting on their dead hinneys while 4 were working the security line to get to the gates. Interesting happening, Van Jones was going through security right in front of me. I spoke to him, called him by name, (asked him if he was headed back to D.C.?) and he about jumped out of his skin, I got the distinct feeling he was nervous about being recognized.

HB118/SB142: Current "parking lot" legislation
Worriedman replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Never happen. The Powers that be are fully under the direction of the Board of Regents, and they will never let firearms on campus without repercussions, never. They MUST have control.
