  1. I don't understand why they didn't get a marksman, or at least a guy with a rifle to shoot the guy's hand or the gun to prevent anyone from dying.
  2. Maybe I misread the question, but I sure hope that is only your SHTF bag, Sun, because otherwise, it's a little on the creepy side.
  3. Red Lobster time!
  4. I do like their attempt to stick to the Constitution and take unnecessary power away from the federal government. I don't however like their desire to legislate morality. Religion and government have no business being anywhere near one another. Nobody tells me what to believe, especially if it only affects me.
  5. That was the worst music I have ever heard with a video.
  6. The screws were so tight when it scooted the last time, I bent a penny that I was using as a makeshift screwdriver, so I don't think it's the screws, unfortunately. I think the rings just won't grip or something.
  7. Dudes, I recently mounted a Bushnell 3-9x32mm rimfire scope on my Marlin 60. It is a fine scope and is very clear and adjusts nicely. The rings that it came with to mount it on the grooved receiver of the Marlin are garbage. Despite my cranking down fairly hard on the mounting screws, the scope still scoots backward a fraction of a millimeter when I fire hyper velocity ammunition. After a few tubes of this ammo, the back mount is completely off the receiver. Is there a way to correct this, or should I get another set of rings? If I need new rings, what would you guys recommend? [Remember this is for a grooved receiver.]
  8. I would keep the 1100 as is and get a Mossy (probably an SBS) for self defense. Reason being, if you love that gun so much and you have to use it to put down an invader, you will be missing it for a long time when it gets sent away deep into the evidence vaults at the station. Also, why modify a gun that looks so good already when you can just spend a little bit extra and have it both ways?
  9. Just like he could catch my fist if I was punching him while he's trying to stand up out of a car. I guess you guys mostly drive trucks, but I need to use my hands to help me out of my econo-crap coupe. And if someone decides to punch/pistol whip/stomp me in the face, I have 2 options: 1.) Take it in the face like a man. 2.) Try to dodge and fall back into the car. If somehow this guy was fast enough to grab my hand, then I would discharge the firearm (hopefully into him) and punch/stomp like I have never punch/stomped in my life. I have never met a person who could take me punching and stomping them just to hold onto a gun in my hand that I'm trying to shoot at them. So yeah. Then I would run up a wall, do a flip and shoot my lasers at him.
  10. Well I'm pleased to inform you that he has got a covered area with 4 right-handed benches and 1 lefty. It's pretty nice. Has a bunch of chairs, too. This is all on the rifle range, I'm not too sure about the pistol range, I don't have any pistols to shoot over there. Lol, I feel like I'm doing a commercial for this guy, but it is a nice place and a bit closer than Viola.
  11. oldfella, I see that you are from Tullahoma. Are you familiar with Terry Walden's range off of exit 105 in Manchester? He's got a 300yd rifle range and a pistol range and charges $5/day or $100/year. The range is open 8-dusk Mon-Sat and 12:30-dusk on Sunday. If they aren't at the range, you can just drop money off at a box at the store and drive back to the range. Pretty nice if you ask me.
  12. Thank you all, I feel so smart right now.
  13. I'd hold him at gunpoint and if he tried to get out of the car with my things, nonviolently, I would pistol whip the mess out of him and keep him in the car. Hopefully, the first couple whips would either convince him to stay in the car, or get him to try something, at which point I would punch .45 caliber holes in his body.
  14. Newb question: I keep seeing the acronym "BG" used in reference to an intruder of sorts, what does this stand for?
  15. Thanks 323. I knew it was an anti-materiel rifle, I just wasn't sure how often it is used. Sucks to hear about your hearing loss. Do you guys not wear any noise limiting hearing protection?
  16. If I was going to go through all that trouble, I'd just get a .510 Whisper so I could at least have some knockdown power. Does Liberty make a can for that?
  17. If it was 1 sniper, a mile away, shooting at a lonely group of a half dozen insurgents, sure, they are all dead. However, what happens when they are closer and larger in number, or even worse, there is a counter sniping unit looking for said sniper? If nightrunner is right, then that answers my question, a suppressor would eliminate the problem of the dust cloud, muzzle flash, and a considerable amount of recoil. My other question still stands, though. Can a suppressor really bring the sound within "hearing safe" levels?
  18. Okay, so the Barrett M82’s and MacMillan Tac-50’s and pretty much all other .50BMG chambered rifles have huge muzzle brakes to bring the recoil down to a reasonable amount. While this does take like 60% of the recoil off, how do snipers manage to not totally give away their positions with a huge cloud of dust when they shoot one of these rifles? I know that they have the ports to the side, but it still doesn’t make sense that the pressure being directed to the sides will prevent dust kick up. Do they shoot them without the brake on? I have seen silencers made for .50BMG as well, which they cannot port in any direction. Is the trapping of the gasses enough to reduce the recoil to manageable levels? Speaking of manageable levels, the AAC Cyclops is supposed to reduce the report of a .50BMG rifle to hearing safe levels. Can anyone here attest to this?

  20. Hey guys, I just found this forum today and it appears to be pretty active and well put together, so I'm excited to get to discuss firearms with active local/semi-local people. I am a 23 year-old, married, Junior mechanical engineering student. I enjoy cars, guns, computers, video games, rock climbing, and various other outdoors things. My "arsenal" consists of a Marlin Model 60 with a Bushnell 3-9x32mm Rimfire Scope, a New England Pardner 12ga Single Shot, and a CMMG M4LEP Carbine Rifle. I am fairly new to shooting, but I have done a lot of research and brain-picking, so I have a little knowledge under my belt. I can field strip and function check my M4 in 45 seconds and do it blindfolded in 2-3 min. Taking apart a gun and putting it together is probably the most satisfying part about gun ownership to me. -Kelemvor
