  1. this guy talks about making his own electronic call for pretty cheap. I thought I might try it. Think I've got everything needed just lying around so I wouldn't have to buy anything.

    Varmint Al's Hunting Page

Don't know if it will work. We here them around here all the time at night. Have seen a few in the daytime. Been itching to pull a trigger on one.

  2. I'd agree, we haven't hit bottom on ARs yet. They are looking good though. I'd say after Christmas, maybe around Feb./March, keep your powder dry until then. UNLESS, you're a little antsey on having no high capacity rifle in your safe. We never know when another political event might take place that will quickly jump prices rising. I'm holding, but plan to double down when it seems we're at the bottom.

  3. not to throw a monkey wrench in the works but sometimes showers can be a real pain. At our old house (built in 1978) I had to do the same job you're needing done on more than one occasion. The biggest problem I always had was, right off the bat, my knobs were seemingly welded onto the stems. They just won't come off. It seems the continual exposure to the shower environment causes the brass stems to weld themselves to the pot metal knobs. Usually replacement knobs are available, I boogered mine up the first time and had to replace them both. After that I used some anti seize compound on the stems and that seemed to help the next time around. I ended up using a dremel to cut off the knobs and not ruin the stems, believe it or not.

Sometimes showers will have threaded sleeves that go over the stems which will need to be unscrewed. Find a socket that just fits inside then use a pair of channel locks to turn them out. If you're real careful you can do it without scratching the hell out of them. Sometimes padding the jaws helps.

You may need a deep well socket to reach down in the fixture to unscrew the stem. I slipped one down over it and let the stem protrude through the square ratchet hole and used channel locks to then turn the socket. The do make special long tools for this a home depot.

Hopefully the washers will fix you up. Make sure to check out the washer seat down in the fixture once you get them out. Check for smooth sealing surfaces, no cuts or cracks. They can sometimes need replacing, and I won't go into that, hopefully new washers will get you by.

  4. Well, I guess I'll be the dissenting vote here. Just got back, and while it does not compare with either of the Nashville shows, I didn't think it was all that bad for a first time out. Yes it was small. The crowd had apparently slacked up as there was room to move around and not shoulder to shoulder.

Was I disappointed? Not really. Would I have liked it better if it were the size/quality of a Smyrna/Nashville show, yes. But, I did not expect more than it was, it is the first time since I can remember ever having a Lebanon G. show so you can't go balls to the wall out of the gate.

Prices were mostly average to high for gun shows. Some vendor, and walk around sellers for that matter, haven't gotten the word yet that we're moving back toward a buyers market rather than sellers. Particularly on anything black and plastic. AR parts particularly, and complete rifles were too high (walk around also). But I did see a table or two with competitively priced items.

The size of the show meant there were more knives and ancillary (minimally gun related) items displayed than I would have liked. Years ago, actually decades, the TN gun collector shows allowed NO knives or anything that didn't go bang. And those were great shows, but that's not going to happen today. If you put a knife on your table you were asked to pick it up.

Overall, the show would have been better if larger and if the air had worked better. But I'm glad I went and supported the show at a local place. I hope they can improve and come back again.

  5. I get some of the CCI .22 shot cartridges and have a blast. They're fun to shoot at when they are flying around. When you hit them they just fall straight to the ground. It's great fun and pretty good practice. Just be careful of your backstop.

  6. My cousin just got a Lee turret and likes it. He moved up from a RCBS rock chucker. Can't beat the value and it's a good medium between single and full progressive.

Personally I haven't gulped the dillon kool-aid and will be getting a pro 2000 when I can get the funds together. I've had RCBS equip. for years, make that decades, and if it breaks they fix it, so don't let Dillon's no BS guarantee go to your head.

  7. Diamond Gusset's Defender jeans have Kevlar in the rear pocket area, might help, but I don't think it's woven tight enough to be bullet repellent.

I hear those were to keep farts in, rather than bullets out:D

  8. Got out my old 1911 the other day and put a few rounds through it. I'd been shooting mostly Glocks and other plastic firepower. I couldn't believe how much better it shot and felt to shoot.

  9. If any of ya'll are in the 17th district, currently Mae Beaver's district, I'd encourage you to find out more about Susan Lynn who will be running for the seat Mae is vacating. Lynn introduced and subsequently passed the sovereignty resolution in the house and was involved with the TN firearms bill. She is now pushing for more and will do so when elected to the TN senate.

Here's a link to her blog where you can read about the pledge she has just signed and is encouraging others to sign. Every constitution loving Tennessean should be proud to have a state senate candidate willing to agree with such a pledge.

    pledge

The sovereignty movement is the only way we are ever going to be able to get out from under the burdensome federal govt.

  10. guess he's figuring he needs an "anti coup" squad that will take orders directly from him. Probably figures when push comes to shove, the military won't be on his side or worse.

He certainly is setting it up with his comments/position on Honduras. His Honduras position could translate into his actions in the US, and I can see him saying....... " I was duly elected by the people of the United States of America. They voted for me not the constitution. You can't throw me out no matter what."

  11. The public library has copies including audio versions. There is also an abridged audio book, only 10 hours instead of nearly 40. I've got the audio one on reserve at the Nash. library, they called today and said something was ready for pickup, hope that's it. I listened to the short one several years ago, but figure I better bone up so I can see the future. Wouldn't want to miss any thing. May need to start my own "Reardon Metals" business, blue guns would look neat!

  12. There's a republican running this time, Evans I think. Seems like a nice enough guy, retired military. Not sure he's really up to what needs to be done, or if he can make enough waves to have a shot. If we just had a good strong conservative that could get in BG's face I think he would win this go-round. It's time to pull out all the stops. No playing nice anymore. They need to be pruned real close.
