  1. I've seen a ton of sign in Priest WMA right off of Pinhook Dr, but never seen a deer there. Really, I stared getting up a little earlier and going to Cheatam WMA. Definitely worth the drive.
  2. Thanks for the advice guys, but I didn't get a lick of it till just now. We did manage to put 200 in the bag between four of us. My partner and I got 130. What a blast! Lessons learned - I need a 20ga, 12 is just too much. Check your choke, full choke is TOO MUCH. I couldn't hit squat at less than 30 yards, and the few times I did, the bird "disappeared". It did make taking those 70 yard desperation shots productive though. Easing up to them is the key, the whole covey going off in the middle of a reload sucks. I'm hooked, what a fun experience. BTW, big thumbs up to Keith at Tumbling Creek Lodge!! Those guys and the facilities are top notch!!
  3. So tomorrow I'm headed to some lodge type deal with some guys from work to hunt quail. I've never hunted quail. Any last minute tips? I'm a decent shot with a shotgun, but have no idea how they fly. Do they dart or arc? Should I take a 26" or 28" ? Should be fun irregardless, but my boss claims he bagged 40 last year....
  4. Yeah, ran a box through at Stones River Range two weekends before. All at their 100 yard markers with the scope on 9x. It was good enough at about 4-5 moa I hadn't knocked it good, just the typical climbing stand abuse. I shot it again, 4" down and to the right on 9x. 12-13" high and left on 3x. I rolled the power down on the scope cause the dude was in so close.... I guess thats the first and last Redhead scope I'll buy.
  5. Clean shot right through the bushes. Didn't hit the buck at all. I went to the range and checked the rifle scope, it was off by around 18". It came off and the 30-30 now is running iron sights from here on out. 18" off at 40 yards.... What a joke.
  6. Just shot at a six pointer. I had to shoot through thick brush so he might have walked. He didn't act shot. Well see. Damn little blackberry buttonbs - its cold
  7. Fixed for accuracy I guess the pilgrims came to "America" for the great scenery.
  8. Been pretty slow in the woods this year.... My Facebook is getting a lot of use
  9. Very nice buck! I just sat through the LBL quota hunt over a large scrape about 40yards from nice rub and saw 1 tiny doe come nosing around. I did find my spot for two years from now though, so I quess it wasn't a total wash.
  10. I know the WMA's in Davidson are slug and muzzleloader only. Private land - I have no clue. Oh yeah, Nice Buck!!
  11. Wha'eva'. Lets go to the mall.... hand me my Eng/Span. translator and bullet proof vest. I graduated from Glencliff.....
  12. Now that the AR's are straightened out, any of these guys play with AK's? I need a barrel twisted to line up a gas block and front sight block.
  13. Crap. I had almost talked myself out of getting into AR's. That's a pretty picture! Congrats!
  14. We have all done some stupid things before. I hate that these guys got hurt and dead, but maybe it will serve as a reminder for us to stay alert. I've found I HAVE to have a cup of joe before I go to the stand or I get real sloppy. I almost slid a tree in my climber last weekend cause I wasn't paying attention.
  15. ALIENS HAVE ABDUCTED THE DEER - WE ARE NEXT Same deal in Southern KY. Acorns are rotting on the ground with no sign at all. I think I'm gonna take a little .22 and rack up on the bumper crop of squirrel
  16. I think it's still a tad early. I saw four mature does yesterday in a group running their morning jog. They didn't seem nervous or swollen at all. NO scrapes from this year at all, but I am on two big rubs that have to be the same bruiser. I'm hoping it will hold out for three weeks.... LBL quota hunt
  17. Crowded aisles. I was there with a baby stroller. Usual vendors and pricing. It was good to get out and "rub elbows"
  18. Nope, but you can get in touch with the TWRA and they will get you maps of the different WMA's. Just remember to ask super nice.
  19. Mine: .22 rifle .22 pistol 12 ga. .308 rifle .223 and/or 7.62 assault - defensive The .22s are the biggie for me. You can kill anything with a well placed shot, and they don't yell HERE I AM
  20. I have pretty limited experience with local shops, but I have a Saiga on the way to Mike at the Saddle Shop. He has responded VERY well to requests for FFL copies. I'm definitely locked in wih him on transfers. I just bought an AK from Specialty Arms. Daniel and Collin were there and very helpful.
  21. Yep. Navy Ordnance. Thanks guys.
  22. Thought I'd say hello. I recently decided to get back into guns, it's getting too cold to ride the bikes and I have to tinker on something this winter. Anyway, I'm sure ya'll will be seeing me around. Oh, and if any of my posts offend you, let me know, I really just can't be serious about anything and sometimes put both feet in my mouth.
  23. I'm on baby (8mo old) duty this weekend cause the wife has to work. I'm not sitting at the house all day. They can stab me in the spleen when I walk in the door, it's better than the alternative. I'll be there.
