  2. History repeats itself Try and you’ll succeed Never doubt that you’re the one And you can have your dreams!
  3. Try to believe Though the going gets rough That you gotta hang tough to make it
  4. Try to be best ‘Cause you’re only a man And a man’s gotta learn to take it
  5. I'll just go ahead and say ditto. I have a two hour drive back and forth to work 3 days a week. If nothing else, (aside from everything else that's in the BOB) I feel better having a change of clothes if I have to stay overnight and go back to the office the next morning. I just don't see any reason not to have one.
  6. Hmm. If it was sent to get made on Wednesday, and everything was smooth like butter, it could be there any minute. Being told that it was on its way is great news. I'd probably be camping out at the mailbox. "BRING ME SOME HOT CHOCOLATE AND A BOLOGNA SANDWICH, WOMAN!!!! THE MAIL COULD BE HERE ANY MINUTE!!!!"
  7. Don't forget, you'll probably be traveling through Illinois to get there, and unless I'm very mistaken, that means unloaded and locked away till you get to Missouri.
  8. Well, in that case, I'll take a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range....or any of the full size SA 1911s.
  9. Thanks. Keep the faith. It'll get there.
  10. Carter Shooting and Hunting Supply on Hwy 58 http://cartershooting.com/ And I think Sportsman's on Hixon Pike might rent too...not a 100% sure on that, so call them first: 423-870-3474
  11. Yeah, that might be one of those thing that I just keep to myself.
  12. Order better yet...put it on, stand in front of the mirror and say, "My gun makes you look fat".
  13. Thanks, Molon. Now I just have to convince the wife I need a new gun for carry. Christmas is right around the corner.
  14. Hey Canyn...Were you as bored as I was going to the mailbox today?
  15. I'm going to jump in on this one. I work in AL several days a week and made it a point to find out about this one. From what I read you can carry in AL with a TN HCP. From the State of Alabama's Attorney General's website: "After reviewing the Tennessee and Alabama laws on the recognition of other state's concealed handgun licenses, it is apparent that Alabama, pursuant to Act 2001-494 (ALA. CODE § 13A-11-85 (1975)), has recognized and given effect to Tennessee handgun permits, since July1, 2003, and that Tennessee, with some restriction on Alabama citizens who work in Tennessee, has recognized Alabama concealed handgun licenses, since July1, 2003." Here's the link to the whole thing: http://www.ago.state.al.us/issue/TN_Note.htm As for buying the gun before the permit: Do it. Even if you don't get it, you'll still have it to take the range while you figure out why you didn't get the permit. I was talking with a dealer last week. We were discussing the instant background check. He said that he'd had a couple of people come in with carry permits that were denied on the background check for buying their handguns. Now that, I find odd. He did say it was usually a clerical error thing.
  16. Hello from up on Signal with ya.
  17. You're absolutely right. I went out tonight, bought a new belt, got a holster and did a little "shopping". I went to McKay's books and Books-a-Million and EVERYONE knew I had a gun on me...I swear. It's like a reverse version on that scene in Get Shorty where the guy is in the airport and he thinks everyone has a gun bulge. Seriously though, I think my XD9 service model might be a little bulky for carry. At least that could be my excuse to get another gun.
  18. Well, an hour and half isn't right down the road with gas like it is, but I'm heading to Nashville next week and I know I'll be making a short detour on the way there. And I also know I won't get out of there without making my wallet a little lighter. As for the WalMart story, I've been tasked with buying new toothbrushes (or shall I call them teethbrush...ha) tomorrow, so that may be my chance. I stopped at the WalMart in South Pittsburg Friday to buy ammo for going to the range this morning. We'd just bought my wife's new gun Thursday (.357 SP101) and I wanted to try out .38 special, .38+P and the .357 mags. So, I asked for a box of each of those, and a box of 9mm and a box of .22s. The lady brought them over and said, "Are you expecting a revolution?" My response was a little quicker than usual..."Aren't you? Haven't you gotten the memos?". Nervous laughter ensued...
  19. Welcome from Signal Mountain.
  20. Thanks for the congrats all. I still need to get a good holster. I think I'm going to head down to Sportsman's Warehouse to look for one tomorrow unless someone can come up with a place with more inventory to look through. Personally, I'd rather buy from somewhere else but I don't want to wait to order online and, I like I said, not sure who has a bigger selection in town. I did put the holster on that came with the XD9. Not exactly comfortable or easy to use. I'm with Canyn...gotta get a new belt.
  21. And congrats to you too! Do you know what you're going to carry...and how you're going to carry it?
  22. Holy crap, we DID get them on the same day. I was writing that when you posted yours...got distracted by a movie while I was typing. So, I'm thinking this adds a little credence to molon's idea that they may process them just every so often.
  23. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to start holster shopping. WE GOT THEM TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mother (she's with us for a few days) called us on the way back from the Prentice Cooper range and told us that we had two letters in the box from the Department of Safety. And there you have it...39 days. That's not too bad.
  24. I hope we get them before Thanksgiving. I don't know about your family, but for mine, it might come in handy.
  25. Great to hear Canyn. I may give them a call myself this afternoon. Picked up the wife's carry gun yesterday afternoon and now she's itching for them to get here almost as much as I am. She got a .357 SP101.
