  1. Great...I can see something like that going to garbage...normally. But these days EVERYTHING gets checked.
  2. And then yesterday being a "two days worth of mail" day, I thought...welllll, maybe. Went to the box and there were several thick envelopes. Hopes were high. But no...week 5 and nothing. Thanks Regions Bank for sending my wife and I two packages explaining that you're merging with AmSouth and destroying my brief flash of joy in thinking that the carry permits had arrived.
  3. Hello from up on Signal.
  4. There are a couple of days during the week that I have a really long drive home after work. Those are the days that the wife gets called when she walks through the door.... "Have you checked the mail?!?!?!"
  5. That's helpful alright. Not to add to your workload, but what about maybe posting the estate sales that mention firearms in their adds...if there are any.
  6. I am really glad to see some actual documentation about the signs. Reading some additional opinions from the Attorney General: 1) A business can't JUST use the circle and slash symbol through a gun. 2) If there is more than one business in a building, the sign must be posted on the entrance to each business, not just the building entrance, unless carrying is prohibited on the entire property.
  7. Your mouth to God's ears.
  8. 4 weeks today...still no permit. The mailbox watch continues.
  9. Well, I can tell you this...today will be 4 weeks. The mail should be here in about an hour. We'll see.
  10. Welcome from up here on Signal. And big congrats.
  11. I'd like to throw my voice behind the Chicago ideas. My in-laws are in southern IL, where you'd almost feel as at home as you do in TN, but thanks to brain-trust in Chicago, it will have to ride in the trunk.
  12. I think that sales rep is the same guy that told me dogs can't look up.
  13. Wow! If that doesn't sound familiar, I don't know what does. That was a great read and I wish I'd seen it 3 weeks ago. My wife and I took the class from the same place (best deal in town that we could find) and even from the same guy. Mark Haskins was a great instructor. The wife and I have been discussing taking some additional lessons from him...his card is around here somewhere. It looks like they're doing classes almost every weekend now and I think they do a 2 part class (Tuesday-Wednesday 4hrs) at least once a month. One thing I noticed on your page was that you took your magazines to the class loaded. I did the same thing and when we got there, Carl kinda read me the riot act for doing that. Something I learned before the class...and in it...loaded magazines are the same thing as loaded weapons and unless you've got that CCW...that's a bad thing. That's what they said anyway. We got lucky and did all our paperwork at the DMV down on Cherokee Blvd. It's relatively new so not many people are using it. We were there an hour after they opened and didn't have to wait in line at all. And oddly enough, all the people there were in a great mood and were really happy to see us getting our permits...asked a lot of questions about what we liked to shoot and what he thought we'd carry, etc. We did our fingerprinting at the UPS store out on Gunbarrel Rd...Gunbarrel...coincidental. It was three weeks ago, last Tuesday, when we got everything turned in and fingerprinted. Checking the mailbox every day. Again, great read. Glad you posted it.
  14. What will really amuse me will be if the wife gets hers first by some huge margin. I can't wait to laugh that one off.
  15. 3 weeks yesterday. Nothing in the mail but an XM radio flyer.
  16. Welcome from up on Signal. Prentice has a hunt this weekend, or you'd probably see me and the wife up there early on Saturday shooting my XD9. Drop me a note sometime when you head up there and you can see how someone consistently shoots low and left. I know, I know....I'm working on it.
  17. 2 weeks in. Maybe this waiting could redefine "itchy trigger finger".
  18. Hello and welcome. I knew a Camden person at UTK...last name was Cole. I wonder how many other connections through schools, and the like, could be made around here.
  19. The guy that taught our class (Chattanooga SWAT officer) said that he got calls from a guy in a previous class griping and yelling at him around day 40 that he hadn't gotten his yet. At least wo very obvious things wrong there...1) it had only been 40 days and 2) the teacher doesn't have a whole heck of a lot to do with him getting his permit once the class is over. Odd and strange.
  20. Some things I found interesting this morning at the DMV... First, it was a less used DMV in Chattanooga, so we were right in with only 2 people ahead of it. Secondly, as we were doing the paperwork and having our picture taken, the three guys working there seemed very very happy with what they were doing...the working on carry stuff. They were joking around and asking about what we planned on carrying and where we took our class and how cool it was that we were doing this as a family, etc. I was pleasantly surprised.
  21. The wife and I took our class Saturday, turned in our paperwork at the DMV this morning, and just got back from our laser fingerprinting. Now comes the wait...the 90 day countdown.
  22. Tim, hello from Signal Mtn. Dragon, I think the name of the place is Sportsman's Supply and Service. I've been in there a couple of times browsing. The guys seem pretty friendly...willing to talk to you...that sort of thing. Haven't ever bought anything there, so I can say on that point. And Carter's has some really good guys working there, for sure.
  23. Hello from Signal Mountain. Came over from http://www.xdtalk.com/ . David B.
