  1. Any way you want to look at it, any tax placed on carry will

cause a higher barrier as the income level decreases.

Funny doing that to a right, isn't it?

Whoever said 'mandatory training'. Good, you

pay for it. The word 'mandatory' implies you consider

it a privilege. What else do you wish to give up?

Not going to address the priviledge right argument again.

We will just have to agree to disagree.

I think mandatory training is good also. I would perfer mandatory universal military service for all males and females

for a minimum of 2 years. However I don't see that happening

any time soon. Teaching gun saftey and handleing as a mandatory class in high school would be ok too. Until we get rid of the NEA/TEA and regain

local control of our schools I don't see that happening either.

So I either pay for the required training myself or I pay the State

additional taxes to teach the required training. Personally I'd rather

just pay myself as to pay addititonal taxes.

And lets face it the classes may not be benificial to everyone, but they do give an overview of the legal issues and make people think about using deadly force. Also it does demonstrate which end the round comes out of.

I wish to give up an over bearing, over reaching, over taxing, tyrannical

    Federal Government.

  2. Maybe you can pay attention to exactly what he said. If you don't have a good job, "that speaks worlds about your intellect" as if you are GIVEN a gorramed six-digit job the day you receive your degree. He HAS personally insulted me, my mother, and pretty much all by one member of my family, because we ARE impoverished. Very much so. He implied that those less-well-off are morons and thugs, so he can keep his own mouth shut and defend his own opinions. Maybe he can try raising two kids on $7000 a year.

Missed the point entirely, a little friendly advice, if you are going in the service, I would advise you to grow a thicker skin.

  3. Just curious, who would be your pick, then. He's not mine,

either, but I could back him. Is he a deal breaker, guys?

To me his is just another RINO, and I remember the last time we had a bible thump'in Southern Baptist in offiice. Can you say Jimmy Carter.

Disclaimer: Southern Baptist are ok, use to be one, comment meant to

    disparage Jimmy Carter only.

  4. Newsmax - Politics to Play Central Role in Obama's Supreme Court Pick

"I would expect the president to nominate the most liberal, radical person that he can find, because he is unlikely ever to have the numerical superiority in the Senate that he has today," Fox News legal expert Andrew Napolitano told the Heritage Foundation. "Right now, I think [President Barack Obama] could get through just about anybody, no matter how radical their views might be. This is far to the left of Justice Stevens, who's no friend of a Jeffersonian view of America. But he's not a wild-eyed lefty, which is probably what we'll get."

  5. I'm no Huckabee fan and don't need a fair tax either.

    Us Constitution

Section 8 - Powers of Congress

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States

This is how the Gov was to fund itself...Period.

Funny how they don't teach anymore that an Income tax was declared un-constitution by SCOTUS 4 times prior to

passage of 16th Amendment. It needs to be repealed and the Fed needs to be funded as intended.

  6. How gorramed nice. And quite ignorant. So, because my mother, a college graduate, can't find work but minimum wage retail work in a feasible distance, she's a moron and thug? I'm a moron thug, because I only made $3000 last year (Which was split 1/3 taxes, helping with bills, and then a small amount saved for luxuries), regardless of the fact that I'm third in the entire school for testing, in the top 95% percentile in America, and a contracted, sworn-in future soldier?

Yeah, go know yourself in the carnal way.

I love how people love to throw the word ignorant around on this board,

and not just this post. I was taught to be tolerant of others opinions even

if you disagree with them. Debate them and have vibrant discourse,

but your argument is lost when the name calling starts. The man has an opinion he believes the fee's help keep a certain amount of rift raft from obtaining a permit. He did not personally attack you or your mother, and you could have made your point without the insults.

My opinion is that you should have more pressing prioritys right now than

a HCP. If your mother really needs a HCP perhaps some of us on the board could help out.

  7. Here's my question: Does the U.S. Constitution not ban states from making laws that infringe on our right to bear arms?

Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

    ...

Amendment 10 - Powers of the States and People. Ratified 12/15/1791.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

It seems to me that the 10th Amendment prohibits the state from passing laws that infringe on your 2nd Amendment rights. If "the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed," that seems to me to be "prohibited by it [the Constitution]." So just because it's a law, doesn't make it right.

Maybe our lawyers on here can point out the flaw in my argument, other than the fact that the 2nd Amendment hasn't been "incorporated," which is another crock of B.S. that hopefully will be resolved in June.

And another thing. I have been poor too. I don't care what your situation was when you were poor, my situation was that I couldn't afford a gun and $300 in classes and fees, period. So it did result in being a de facto ban on the poor to me.

Disclaimer: This is not my opinion, please do not kill the messenger.

<!-- BEGIN CONST. TEXT -->Second Amendment - Bearing Arms

    Amendment Text | Annotations

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

    Annotations

In spite of extensive recent discussion and much legislative action with respect to regulation of the purchase, possession, and transportation of firearms, as well as proposals to substantially curtail ownership of firearms, there is no definitive resolution by the courts of just what right the Second Amendment protects. The opposing theories, perhaps oversimplified, are an ''individual rights'' thesis whereby individuals are protected in ownership, possession, and transportation, and a ''states' rights'' thesis whereby it is said the purpose of the clause is to protect the States in their authority to maintain formal, organized militia units.1 Whatever the Amendment may mean, it is a bar only to federal action, not extending to state2 or private3 restraints. The Supreme Court has given effect to the dependent clause of the Amendment in the only case in which it has tested a congressional enactment against the constitutional prohibition, seeming to affirm individual protection but only in the context of the maintenance of a militia or other such public force.

However this may change with the SCOTUS MacDonald ruling.

  8. The healthcare bill was 200+ pages, a new constitution would be 200,000+ pages.

It's something I wouldn't want to see come about.

The so called Healthcare bill is 2700 + pages, I have stated before in other threads that a constitution convention would be a disaster for the country and conservatives as a whole. Only when the last Marxist/Progressive/Liberal/NWO types body lies rotting in the sun

being picked clean by Buzzards would it be safe to call a Constitutional Convention.

  9. So am I hearing that the 5 inch barrel tends to have better accuracy than the 4 inch?

I got to say I like the debate.

I have a Combat Commander Lenght that is 4.25" and its accuracy is more than acceptable. But I perfer the full size with a 5" barrel, I like the longer sight radius and I like the feel and balance better. Personal preference more than anything else.

  10. No, you don't have to buy more stuff, or more expensive stuff. But then what exactly is your reward for working harder? Driving the same old beat up jalopy as the guy that cleans your toilets?

Besides, a consumption tax is still not fair. If I buy two bags of Doritos, am I using more government than my next door neighbor who buys one, and drives the same kind of car down the same roads to get home, protected by the same police and the same military, and screwed by the same Congressmen and Senators? No, so why should I pay more for them?

Like I said, fairer, but still not fair.

You just can't make everybody happy. I think and I may very well be wrong. That in the Fair Tax system as proposed essencial items would not be taxed IE: food/clothing or these amounts would be rebated.

Your reward for working harder would be you could afford the nice car and be able to pay the tax. Your reward now for working harder is what, escalting yourself into the next tax backet and paying more SS taxes,Medicare Tax, and income taxes, what a nice incentive huh.

At least under the Fair Tax you would have a choice as to consume and pay the tax or to hold and save or invest your money. There are things that I do not like about it also. I see the bigger issue as how much revenue the Fed's collect and how much they spend regardless of the tax base used. They are doing things they should not be and never were intended to be doing.

  11. We're basically at the point where the 'Average American' isn't paying any federal income taxes anyway, so why would they want a fair tax?

A flat percentage or consumption tax would wake much of the sleeping population up as they would start to demand for some semblance of responsibility regarding spending on the federal level. Right now the average Joe doesn't care as it doesn't cost him a dime no matter how much the federal government spends.

It will never happen, especially nowadays, but we should have made it where if you don't pay federal income tax, you cannot vote in federal elections.

Originally voting was limited, but I agree, if you are recieveing any type of goverment aid, or you pay no net income taxes you don't vote. I see your point on the Fair Tax, why I have always been against a state income tax here in Tennessee, the sales tax is a fair tax. However the size and scope of the Federal Government must be drastically reduced, its not the type of tax its the amount they tax and thus spend. Deficit spending should be outlawed, except in time of national emergency. And the Feds should be reined in and forced out of the areas they have no business in.

  12. But that's the beauty of the FairTax. Yeah, it won't straight up by law stop the spending. However, I firmly believe that it will by showing people, especially the avg american, how much they ACTUALLY pay in taxes and they will hopefully step up and stop the spending. Knowledge is power and it should give people PLENTY of knowledge when they see $15 tax on a $50 bill. Not to mention that you will be able to speak very loudly by simply not spending any money or by buying items used.

    Matthew

If "the average American" cannot look at their paystub, and their 1040 and figure out what they are paying in taxes, a Fair Tax isn't going to give them anymore gray matter.

  13. There are a bunch of Savage .223s on gunbroker, buy one there and have a local dealer do the transfer. I have had good luck with Gunbroker transactions so far. Personally stay away from cheap AR's there is nothing more fustrating, than a poorly fit, poorly functioning AR. Save your money and buy a good one if you go that route.

  14. FYI... I do NOT want to see a lot of smutty pictures in this thread. For that matter, I don't want to see ANY of them. If your wallpaper is any more revealing than what Steelharp posted, don't bother.

I didn't consider that smutty at all, attractive lady atractively clothed.
