  1. I gouged yesterday. I sold three bricks of .22 on Armslist for $100. The girl across the street just got a scholarship and started college. Her dad kicked her out of the house because he wanted her to go to work and not attend college. She moved into the dorm without a dollar to her name. I gave her the $100. I feel
pretty good about my gouging. Glad none of you flagged me on Armslist.

I would have flagged you if I'd seen your ad. Sorry I missed it.

Congrats on $100 for reselling to people so desperate/foolish they paid your prices. Maybe if folks like you keep it up we can have a manufactured 22lr crisis for years to come.

  2. I tend to agree.  It doesn't bother me if a company tries to jack up prices based on a current panic.  I just won't pay their price if I don't need to.

But I do hold a grudge against some companies that seem like they're intentionally trying to poke a stick in our eye.  Like Troy hiring Dale Monroe or H-S Precision using Lon Horiuchi as a spokesmurderer spokesperson.

Disagree with your first statement. But it's a free market. You support 'em with your dollars. They won't see mine.

I do strongly agree with your second statement. Len Horiuchi is a soulless murdering piece of crap and Dale Monroe was his evil little sidekick. They both deserve the firing squad.

  3. I'll let other folks attempt to put all the places that don't live up to the nth level of their 2A expectations out of biz.

I'm not trying to put anyone out of business or judge anyone who still shops there. I just choose not to spend MY money at any place that chooses to screw over their customers at the drop of the hat.

Think of it as a positive. I guarantee you will never have to compete with me to purchase an item at Dick's or CTD.

  4. Having a pretty lucky day so far. Drove to Sevierville to do the Bass Pro/SMKW/Bud's tour this morning. I walked into Bass Pro and found a pound of IMR 4227 on the shelf along with a good selection of projectiles. Then went into Bud's and found CCI Subsonics, which I haven't seen on the shelf since Sandy Hook.

A quick review on Buds: I was really impressed. Great selection, friendly staff who could actually talk about guns and shooting. Lots of rifles and handguns, even a Saiga 12 at pre-hysteria pricing. They had some droolworthy items too: a Sako Finnlight in 6.5x55 and several Guncrafter No Name 1911s in 45 and 9mm. Tons of ammo including 22lr and 22mag and a decent selection of accessories. When they finish stocking up and get their range open the place is going to be incredible.

  5. I keep reading that in posts from folks on this forum in other parts of TN and in posts on other forums by folks in other parts of the country.  In Knoxville, that simply is not the case.  There was even an article in the Knoxville News-Sentinel a couple of months ago that talked about how the ammo situation was improving elsewhere but, for whatever reason, was not getting any better in the Knoxville area.  In other words, I don't doubt you when you say that, "It's there."  However, while it may be "there', it isn't "here".  Not yet, anyhow.  I sometimes wonder if that is because we have so many gun shows in this area, especially around this time of year.  Not only the RK shows that seem to take place about once a month but also smaller shows here and there.  Maybe the large number of shows keep the profiteers operating in this area even after they have started to slack off, elsewhere.

I haven't seen any .22LR ammo on the shelf of a big box store in at least six months.  That means the Knoxville locations of Academy and Gouger Mountain as well as several (Turkey Creek, Lenoir City, Madisonville, Athens and Rockwood) Walmart locations in the area, the Outdoor World/Bass Pro store in Sevierville or Dunham's Sports in Athens, TN.  I have seen a handful now and again at my favorite LGS but as a small business his costs from his distributors have gone up enough that his prices on .22LR are generally more than I want to pay.

I was at Academy last night and saw about 20 boxes of Blazer 22lr behind the counter.
