  1. Ive already talked to you in a few pms but I just wanted to make an official welcome greeting. Hope your purchase goes well.
  2. I got scheduled to work on saturday & sunday again. But since they didn't put me down to work until 11 on saturday, I should still have enough time to blow through my paycheck.
  3. +1 for the ruger LCP. I really like mine, but I acknowledge that it isn't perfect.
  4. All i have is the old .22lr I didn't realize how sad that is until i read this thread.
  5. The most signifigant differences that I can figure out are the finger grooves and the light/laser rail on the later models. Glock 17s. Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3. Left to right.
  6. The link will tell you, you have to prove citizenship. Official Birth Certificate issued by a U.S. state, jurisdiction or territory (Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Swain's Island, Guam) U.S. Government-issued Certified Birth Certificate U.S. Certificate of Birth Abroad (DS-1350 or FS-545) Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the U.S. (FS-240) Valid, unexpired U.S. Passport Certificate of Citizenship (N560 or N561) Certificate of Naturalization (N550, N570 or N578) U.S. Citizen Identification Card (I-197, I-179)
  7. I got a call last night, and my HCP arrived at home. Sadly, I have to wait for it to be mailed to knoxville since Im taking classes up here this summer. 22 days is much quicker than I was afraid it was going to take.
  8. 22lr, .380, .40, I wish I had more like a 357/38 but I don't.
  9. I thought I wanted a storm, untill I check the prices on gunbroker. If I end up getting a carbine, it will probably be the fugly hi-point.
  10. As someone who just bought a Ruger LCP for concealed carry, I can say that i have been very pleased with my range time. The mag extension is crucial on such a small gun though. I have large hands so my pinky still floats but having the mag extension allows me to get another half a finger around the grip. When I shot it without the grip I had a hard time controlling the LCP and it actually FTE twice in 30 rounds. With the mag extension on I was able to grip it better and it didn't hiccup at all in 130 rounds. Also, the LCP is dang accurate for such a small gun. I was getting good hits at 25 ft. The reason I didn't go with a G27 was the thickness of the Glock guns. It would be harder to conceal such a firearm or cram in it in an IWB holster.
  11. I usually don't have enough money to have to worry about the limit. The wall-mart on Gallaher View in Knox had a pretty good stock on thursday. I got 4 boxes of .40 I remember seeing 38 special, 45 and 9mm. They even had 32 and 25, but I have never seen .380 at any wall-mart.
  12. I still feel like a bone-head for doing this at the last show. I hope it's not as empty as last time, although it would make it easier to get to work on time if it is.
  13. Anyone else have a backup bootknife? Mine is a benchmade CBK (concealed backup knife) that I got off the interwebz. My pants usually hide the handle and keep it concealed. It shows a little when I sit and if I make a pose like captain morgan.
  14. I have been carrying a letherman core around for the last few months and I have been really satisfied with it. I kinda wish it had scissors, but I don't really find myself missing them. I do however frequently use the screwdrivers and pliers, the rest of the tools are mostly unused. The other criticism that I have of this multi-tool is that the blades are on the inside of the handle so you have to unfold the tool to get at the screwdriver, knife blade etc. I was willing to accept this though because I got a pretty decent deal because of the employee discount. 15. I agree that carrying the gun in the purse might be problematic. If someone is trying to rob a woman, they may grab her purse and run. Also if she is anything like my GF, she will leave her purse in the buggy at the grocery store and wander a few asiles away. Or if at work she may leave it at her desk, etc. Not the most accessable or secured way to carry. Then again...if that is the only way she will carry it, it's better to have the gun in the purse than sitting by the bed at home.
  16. Soon I will be joining the minority of Tennesseans who have a carry permit. I got finger printed today so my permit should be on its way in 90 days or hopefully sooner. I would be extatic if it got here in three weeks like some of yall have indicated. I took my Class at “On Targetâ€, which I really enjoyed. I felt like the instructor was knowledgeable and kept the class as interesting as possible. I got a 100 on both the Q&A and the shooting portion of the test. I rented their 22 pistol for the shooting test because it was only $5 as apposed to $15 for a box of .40s&w. The whole class took place at John Sevier range, which I am a big fan of. As some people have noted, their range is very regulated but it makes me feel safe, especially around new shooters. Per my instructor's advice I avoided the Department of Safety at Strawberry Plains and instead went to the one in Clinton. I was in and out in less than 45 minuets, which more than made up for the hour round trip drive. I got finger printed at “At Work Personnel Services†on Kingston Pike and I was in and out of there in about 15 min. It only took that long because I struggled to hold my fingers in exactly the right spot. On Target Training Center, Inc. - Handgun Carry Permit Training - Knoxville, Tennessee
  17. Yeah I came home and then checked Gun Show Listings ForTennesee and realised how dumb I am. I was successfull in selling the ruger 10-22 stock so I ended up spending it all on ammo. This show seemed really empty to me, it was nice to not have to fight to get to the tables.
  18. I was just at Chilwakee park and no one else was there. Do they open later on sundays?
  19. Im planing on going this Sunday sometime to see what I can spend all my money on. Im also hoping that I can unload a Ruger 10-22 stock, I don't need anymore. Anyone else planning on being there?
  20. SGA Senate meeting sparks gun debate Kyle Turner - Thursday, March 04, 2010 issue Heated debate ensued at the latest SGA Senate meeting in response to resolution 04-10, expressing student opposition to weapons on campus. The SGA resolution is in reply to a proposed resolution before the Tennessee legislature that would allow those with required permits the right to keep a secured firearm in their locked car on campus property. UT administration is currently opposed to allowing guns on campus in any fashion, Ross Rowland, sophomore in exercise science and co-sponsor of the resolution, said. “We are not trying to strip away anyone’s rights but instead offer safety and piece of mind in a place of higher learning,” Rowland said. Contention with the resolution was expressed by arguably the largest showing of students this year who are not serving as senators. “The problem is not the law-abiding citizens,” Ceallach Scott, senior in political science, said. “Disallowing me to legally have a gun on campus is unconscionable seeing that the university is doing nothing to actively stop those who currently do (carry guns).” Scott expressed the notion that UT lacks safeguards such as metal detectors and classroom searches to eliminate those unlawfully possessing weapons while on campus. Scott said being allowed to have a gun safely contained within her car on campus is seen as “a personal insult to myself and those who deemed me qualified.” Motions were proposed regarding parliamentary procedures in an unsuccessful move to what some saw as silencing those in opposition. SGA senator Derrik Smith, junior in physics, was commended for his motion to allow visitors to speak during debate. Otherwise visitors are not allowed to speak unless yielded time by a senator. Some students expressed displeasure with the current policy, noting that not being able to keep a gun in their car on campus is not just an issue solely while at school. Those who wish to carry a gun in their vehicle are forced to park in off-campus lots. If students park on campus, they have to sacrifice their peace of mind while traveling home and at any stops that may ensue. “Not allowing qualified people to have a gun on campus will not equal less crime,” Kenneth Boone, junior in political science, said. “The least it will do is embolden criminals and hamper those who abide by the rules.” Students in opposition felt unrepresented and attended the meeting to make their views known to a senate that some feel is out of touch with student opinion. Todd Skelton, commuter senator and senior in the College Scholars Program, made it a point to reach out to his constituency. “I had the chance to talk with several commuter students who had mixed feelings about the issue,” Skelton said. “I am all for Second Amendment rights but at the same time very concerned with campus safety.” Skelton noted that many of his constituents were concerned with that delicate balance as well. After spirited debate and what some say is a prime example of student engagement, the resolution was passed with 23 voting in the affirmative, eight against and nine abstentions. Other business of the senate included the passage of the bicycle registration program proposed by senators Todd Skelton and Courtney Sharp. Skelton said the bike program would be similar to “Operation ID” by allowing students to register their bicycle for greater convenience. “The benefits include potentially deterring theft and also providing a way to claim your property,” Skelton said. “It is also promoting green campus initiatives and serves as a valuable resource for students who ride their bicycles.” The Daily Beacon
  21. Pic as promised: This is always in my right front pocket. I had to use it today when I was in a bit of a rush and forgot to check if there was TP in the bathroom.
  22. I'll try to get a pic up tommorow or the next day but I have started to carry an emptied altoid tin full of essentials with me at all times. Right now I have in the tin: 4 Bandaids 4 Saftey Pins Duct Tape Toilet Paper Mini Lighter Small LED flashlight Few pieces of Chewing Gum Dayquill (2 pills)
  23. even though I love my g22, I think a first time handgun owner would get more use and enjoyment out of a 9mm.
  24. Yeah that was a hard one for me to walk by.
  25. Saw this guy today at the show. Has anyone used one of these? Right now my only carry option is a glock 22. He is selling these for sixty and the cell holder is another twenty-five. I think I can find a cell holster for about 15 though at wally-world. http://universalholsters.com/universalholster.html
