Be advised, if you go to the Cheatham Co range, do NOT go by yourself. You'll want one guy to stay back with the guns/gear while the other pastes targets.

Also, at Cheatham you WILL get covered by a muzzle sooner or later. I think almost every single time I've gone there I've chewed someone's ass out for safety. Not one time, ever, did they say a word back to me. Probably because they knew they were in the wrong.

At Cheatham you'll need to buy a day pass at one of the mini marts close to the range. At one time there were two stores, no clue about now. There's no RSO's at Cheatham but there are at Stones River. This is a mixed blessing. At Stones River, you have to shoot after picking a pistol up off the the table. At Cheatham, you can do a fast draw if you want.

You can buy targets at SR, you have to take your own at Cheatham. Take your own folding chair at Cheatham too. No bathroom at Cheatham, so if #2 is needed, go across the road into the woods.

Brass whores abound at both ranges.

Montgomery Co range goes out to 400 yards, IIRC? They have steel plates at the handgun range too. Nice place.

Montgomery County is my favorite for shooting. But, you are stuck with fixed targets in each lane. Stones River has movable targets, and is the best place to sight in rifles.

If I still lived there, I would have a membership at Strategic Edge.

The " electric  " thing is just another approach to picking the consumer's pocket by lying about the environment.  Lotsa " children of lower estate " believe that electric vehicles are cleaner.  They ain't, unless the energy is produced from nuclear plants.  The electric vehicle will not be a success until the battery charging, performance, n driving range problem is solved.

Watch the electric heavy truck business.  If it works, then other electric vehicles will be viable.  I'm guessin that I'll be takin my rest by the time they are a viable contender to gas n diesel machines.  I'm now in my 75 th winter.

Dont trade your gas/diesel machine just yet.

By the way, I spent 38 years in the electric utility business.

Yep. Right now, that high tech Tesla is mostly coal powered. Gotta give credit for a high quality lie. Musk is a physicist. He gets it. He's just gonna cash in.

Not qite what the OP suggested that he wanted, but a favorite of mine is the Model 19. S&W Perfection!

But then there's a lot to be said for the 686 too!

One of my all time favorites was a nickel model 19 with a 4" barrel. Wish I had it back.

My question is this: why wouldn't ANY gun being used on-set be kept under lock & key with ONLY the armorer having the key? Why wasn't the gun(s) kept like the nuclear launch codes? One person & ONLY one person having access to them? Armorer not on the set? Then the guns can't be touched by ANYONE else, period. They're locked away.

Clearly that would make too much sense for Hollyweird.

I'm betting those ARE the rules on well run sets.

Many stats floating around so please correct me if wrong but just 3 gun deaths in all film history? One perhaps suicide?

Sounds hard to believe when you think of the gun comedy era of Abbott and Costello or three stooges and all the freaking westerns and war movies and shows of the 50s and 60s. All those multitudes of extras in war epics handed a Nazi uniform and a Mauser and told to run this way or that, point over there. Nobody shot.

If true I can't believe it's all because actors are so safe and gun savvy or dumb luck was on their side.

I mean guns and film sets have been more safe than anywhere else with guns it seems statistically. Hollywood had gun safety with dumb actors figured out to a tea till fairly recently.

Baldwin's production broke all the historic basic rules and all that was left to save the woman's life was the dumb actor?

Baldwin and his lawyers will play up dumb actor and play down his producer role. Best hope is he goes broke over this and is shunned by Hollywood forever.

A big part of that is that there's no place for live ammo on a movie set. You can accidentally shoot anybody if Andy didn't give you any bullets.

Hey thanks so much! The both of you. Good to know! Guess I gotta meet some people with private land at work then.

do you happen to know how the range safety officers are about AR pistols?

The RSO's at Stones River were always great. They're safe though. It has been awhile since I was there.  It's the busiest range in the state, so they see a lot of dip####s. I would call. I doubt that you will have a problem. We showed up there with a couple of AR's one day and blew through 500 rounds about as fast as we could without melting the guns. The RSO's got a kick out of it.

Hellos to everyone! Just moved down from Montana. Does anyone know any public land to take out my toys to make sure they’re sighted in well? Used to finding an area off a road and shooting. Nashville seems to populated to do that kind of stuff around here. If I’m just going to sight in stuff, I don’t want to have to pay a $20 range fee for 2hrs. Something that has 100yrds would be nice. Thanks in advance. Had a small collection, then sold pretty much of all of it. Slimming down calibers and platforms to be a sig p320 guy and AR guy exclusively. Not too long ago had some stuff posted for sale too

The Stones River range (state owned) is cheap, safe, and really will equipped for sighting in rifles. Moveable target stands at 25, 50, and 100 yards. It's out on Percy Priest lake. I kept annual memberships for several years. I think they are only open on weekends.

  8. Our shipping has been pretty good from all carriers here in Podunk, even Fedex.

Amazon seems to work their way around the Post Office. USPS is listed as the carrier, but is sometimes delivered by folks that aren't regular carriers. All of the Sunday shipments.

Bill Ruger's been dead for almost 20 years, so his political views aren't really a serious concern.

Though, like many dead people, he's probably a Biden voter.  😄

Some people will threaten you over those kind of jokes. For whatever it's worth, F^*k Bill Ruger.

He has flat out said that it was the prop master's fault for handing him a hot gun.  If only he had checked it when it was handed to him, like any of us common gun folk would have done...  He acts like an entitled brat, quick to point a finger and absolutely refuses to accept any responsibility.  He and the prop master were both negligent, I hope they both face charges and do time.

The law says he is responsible. And so, the other excuses really don't matter. They either enforce the law or they don't.

The terminology is inconsistent on the news clips but live round now is only a real complete round I guess.

Question: without looking at the gun pointing at you how do you easily know if the gun has blanks, dummy rounds, or live rounds in a replica gun like that. No swing out cylinder and just a loading gate access.

I guess dummy rounds so camera can see bullets showing out the cylinder. Crimped blanks would look odd.

Are the dummy and blanks different enough from the back?

Snap caps are red for example

I just took this picture. This is my Italian replica Peacemaker with a round ready to advance to the firing position...

A couple of years ago there was a guy, last name Sark, that invented a new method of speaking. It involves saying the opposite of what you mean, and it is a revolutionary way of communicating. A common issue that we are starting to see is that it doesn't always translate via text.
