  1. Than what? This post? We all have our reasons for believing the things we believe. We all have different experiences.
  2. I don't carry a pistol to use it as a negotiating tool. I carry it to protect myself. If you're serious about that, you're better off hiding everything from your opponent except the muzzle flash. Every situation is different. If I feel threatened by a situation that may require force, I am going to get my weapon under my control ASAP. If it turns out to be nothing, I'll put it back up.
  3. I live in the Priest Lake area. Office is on Music Row. Can meet in either area.
  4. Not THAT's brandishing
  5. Thanks. I have one backordered at Midway. Apparently, they have to grow them from seeds. Not sure I even need the small one. Just gotta try it.
  6. You're gonna look GOOD on all those secret video cameras when you show up in court
  7. But, you can teach them. Explain that they are brandishing their weapon, and that they're legally bound to give you some time to dig your pistol out of your britches.
  8. Are you sayin' you've bumped into some real live thugs in your life?
  9. I completely agree with 1 & 2. If it turns into a shooting, it won't be cowboy style. If I see a thug coming my way in a dark alley, my gun will be in my hand and hidden. I won't be real concerned about what he might say in court.
  10. How did you take my statement as "drawing to intimidate"???
  11. I think there some confusion about the term unholstering. To me, it means freeing the gun so you can move it to where it needs to go. Just because I free it from it's restraints doesn't mean I'm going to wave it around, or point it at anybody. Just means I don't have to dig it out while somebody is shooting at me.
  12. Yep, 'cause Smith and Wesson is just now learning how to make guns

    S&W 29-2

Just use both hands, Officer Callhan
  14. Both are real competent guns. I picked the M&P, but the choice wasn't easy. If i would have walked out with the g19, I'm sure i would be just as happy with my choice. I'm trying to figure out how to like either one as much as my CZ P01
  15. So far, I've only used a plastic punch without a vise. Small brass hammer from the punch set.
  16. Finally got around to sticking the APEX parts in. New sear and trigger spring were both a breeze. I'm having a helluva time moving the rear sight to install the safety plunger. It's the factory Novak sight. Do I just need to beat the hell out of it, or is there a trick? BTW... the trigger is much better already.
  17. I have owned a Smith auto since the '70's. It still runs well, and can't recall any malfunctions. I also have a 3rd generation Smith auto. Finally, I have an M&P that's in pieces right now getting some APEX parts. Point is, they're not exactly newcomers, and have always worked well enough for LE service. Granted, I thought I was "giving them a chance" when i bought my 59 because it has Patents Pending stamped in the slide. I've never owned a revolver other than S&W, and I agree with you there. I've just come to have some faith in their autos after all these years too.
  18. We had a thread about EMP, and i believe that book, not too long ago
  19. Oh yeah. the A bombs dropped over Japan were firecrackers compared to the fusion bombs of today.
  20. Trigem, I haven't read much lately, but skimming that article sounds like the author may be a little optimistic. If it gets cold enough to kill all the plants, it's over. There won't be any food. I'll do some more reading.
  21. Best plan... move to ground zero. Gonna be the best you can get if there's ever an all-out release of force. Instant vaporization Die from severe burns Die from radiation sickness Freeze to death.
  22. I'll unholster without the intention of shooting anybody. That's different than pointing your weapon.
  23. Won't happen that way. It IS a nuke, and will cause everybody to mash the bang switch. One thing Trigem's article didn't discuss... nuclear winter. It would be very diffucult to make mammals extinct with the direct effects of our current stock of nuclear warheads. It takes a whole lot less to put enough crap in the upper atmosphere to trigger nuclear winter. That will kill everything.
  24. Some stuff will continue to work, including guns. There are EMP proof buildings in strategic places, even some that house mass communications transmitters. The goverment has been working on EMP immunity for years. Since it's just a very large electromagnetic field, it can be shielded. Just takes real serious shielding. Your computers, and mine, will be toast.
