  1. Good day shooters; We will be at the Range Monday morning, November 22 to try to finish the new berm work, I also need to repair the water line to the range. We can use some help applying seed and straw. I will be their early.

Also the berms are finished enought to have matches in them. One , two and three are 25 yrds deep with 8 foot tall berms. Bays 4 and 5 are 50 yrds deep with 8 ft berms. We will have 4 stages on our Dec. 11 shotgun/pistol match. One pistol only requiring 26 rounds in one string, one shot gun only in one of the new long bays with 8 slugs and 9 shot, slug targets will be a 40 yrds. :D and 2 pistol/shotgun stages.

And the rifle berms are now at 304 yrds.

  2. We are working on the berm project through Friday. TVA stepped in and changed some things and put us behind. The old target shed is gone, that area is parking now. New shed will be off to the side. The back rifle berm is at 304 yards now and about 4 feet lower. The pistol berms are 25 yards deep, bay one has a new safety berm at the road end and the service road has be moved over and trees pushed back. Bays 4 & 5 are roughed in and ready for finish grading. they are 18x50 yrds. The bad news is the new drain pipe on the entry road will need lowered to meet TVA requirements. That means at least a full day of work because the material is hard as a rock and the water line will have to be moved.

  3. Gallatin gun will host a bug match on November 13. 50 rounds min, only 5 rounds in gun, reloads off the clock, no draws from holster. We will have a IDPA style rifle match after the bug match, no extra charge.

Other range news; We have started range improvements. The roads are being repaired, old buildings are being torn down and removed, new storage will replace the old ones, The rifle range will be extended out to 300 yrds. The dirt from this project will be used to raise and lengthen the pistol bays and two more bays will be created behind bays 1 and 2 giving us 5 pistol bays. Bays 4 and 5 will be 50 yrds deep. A much inproved shoot house will be built in bay 4. A rifle only match will be on the schedule for next year.

  4. Gallatin Gun Will host a small but fun 3-gun match on Oct. 9. Start time is 9:30AM.

Stage one, 28 rounds - 10 pistol and 18 rifle. 4 will be auto-poppers set down range. combo of up close and long range.

    Stage 2. 33 rounds. 20 rifle, 8 shotgun slugs, 5 birdshot.

Stage 3. 30 rounds. 8-19 pistol, 11-22 shotgun. combo of paper, clays and steel. Steel may be shot with shotgun or pistol.

This will be run on outlaw 3-gun rules, scored using IDPA scoring.

SSP= iron sight on rifle, stock pistol with 10 max in mags. (10rd 1911 style ok), 8 rd max shotgun.

ESP= Reddot or other sights on rifle, factory high caps on pistol, high cap shotguns.

CDP= iron sight .308 or 30-06, 8 round .45s, pump shotgun, (heavy metal, hemans class)

One item can bump you up in class, that is red dot sight, high cap shotgun or high cap pistol.

Special note; .308 and .30-06 will only be required one A zone shot to kill an target, every thing else needs two with at least one A,B or C hit on rifle targets or -0 or -1 on IDPA.

Rifle targets will be 1/2 size USPSA targets.

Match fees are $10 for Gallatin members, $15 for non-members. Sorry, No 1st tme shooter fees for this match.

  5. After I bought the magtech I found out that powder Valley had tulammo (wolf) for $21 per thousand. I t would be nice if the us primer mfgs. would catch up and get the prices back to a more normal rate. I do perfer winchester, however I have had no problems with the wolf primers I bought.

  6. Not to fear, I will make excepions. Bring the Saiga, put 6 rounds in the mag and go for it. I may consider other exceptions for the scoped rifle class. The oversize brake won't be a problem either. I am hoping for some rule corrections by the Oct. match. The restrictions on round count is a problem for me, however I believe I can come up with good stages within the guidelines. I may have to fudge it up on at least one stage.:tough:

  7. their are many things I do not like in these rules. I will use them in my 3-gun matches to see what works and what does not. IDPA wants feed back, I am sure they will get it. It does make set up easier with fewer targets. I wish Beach Bunny would support it with a scoring program, They do not like, as I do not like, the one class lower rule. Too many ways to call it. The way I see it, I should be in marksman if I shoot my .45. Does not make sense. Auto loader shotgun needs to be max of at least 7+1. And I would like to keep my magwell on my AR-15. Their are several misspellings and dup. rules in included and excluded. In scoped rifle, extended safety release is in included and excluded.

    send them feed back fellows

  8. OK, in that case, I will set in my chair, collect money, hand out score sheets and answer questions. Was not sure if this match was covered. Setting at home is about to drive me nuts. If this weekend goes well, I will show up at Dickson and help with the sign-in. I hope by July I can start shooting and become active in the clubs operations again.

On June 17th I have a check in with the doctor and hope to get released from restrictions.

  9. Good day shooters. I plan on comming back to the range this Saturday with 3 COF's requiring about 50 rounds. I will need help setting up and running the match. I do not plan on shooting the match myself and may have to leave early if the heat gets to me. SO's shoot free. Normal match fees for everybody else. $10 for Gallatin members, $15 for non-members. I will be at the range at 7:00 AM for setup, we will try to start shooting by 9:30. Their will be a swap meet going on at the rifle shed during the IDPA match.

I will try to have tents and water for those that don't bring their own.

    Robert:tough:

  10. I have plenty more, I thought obout leaving the big door up about 1 foot and sitting in the corner with a camera, and my 12 ga by my side. Smile.
