  1. Hey guys;

    I have not drawn out the stages yet, however I am planning on using 2 guns on 2 stages this time and one stage with just shotgun. I am thinkin about a 18 round shotgun stage, one stage with 4 slugs and around 18 pistol and maybe one with equal number of shotgun and pistol rounds giving the shooter the option to start with ether gun first. I may go way beyond the IDPA limit on pistol and runs some high round count stages. Thoughts?

  2. Sad news today, a friend of the shooting sports has died. On Janunary 8 2008, Buck List died from a heart attack. He was an active IDPA shooter and will be missed. Buck had a wild tour of duty in nam as a Wild Wessel flying F-105 Thunderchiefs, he was an officer in Metro Nashville Police and has more tall tails and wild stories than any person around. The past year his health had gotten worse and was greatly sadded he could not keep up with the sport he loved. He will be missed. :confused:

  3. USPSA is free style shooting, mostly safety rules. The shooter shoots it his or her own way. IDPA stages are shot acording to a set stage decription, they must be shot one way, under the rules, usually with cover behind cover. IDPA, stock guns. USPSA, mostly race guns with some stock guns. Most IDPA matches run 60-70 rounds. Most USPSA matches run 100-150 rounds. Idpa stage max is 18 rounds, USPSA can have 40+ on a single stage. more to come.

  4. The IDPA match at the Red River range is canceled because of bad range conditions. It is too muddy for a safe match. We will be back at the 2nd Amendment Gun shop on 1/5/08 for a indoor IDPA match. Other match dates are 1/19/08- IDPA, 2/2/08-IDPA and 2/16/08- man on man steel match all at the 2nd amendment Gun Shop.

  5. fees for the non-club member of the host club run from $15-$20 per match, second guns can run for $5. MCTS has open membership, $30 per year for dues and $10 per match, Gallatin gun membership is closed, it runs $15 to shoot on IDPA Saturdays. The Dickson USPSA club is open for membership, $50 per year and $20 for members to shoot, $25 for non-members. Most clubs require a NRA membership also.

  6. I would be more than happy to help you all form teams for the upper mid-Tenn area. I am an officer for MCTS and Gallatin Gun Club. I am also a member of NTPS in Dickson. Teams are no problem, When you show up, just tell the match director you want to shoot as a team. A Range officer will be placed with you to run the show.

  7. I keep the gun high, pulling the gun around with my weak hand to get the mag release to my thumb, pull in half way to the chest, reloading at mid-chest height, weak hand goes for the spare mag, drives it home, hits the slide release and pulls the gun back on target with weak hand while pushing with the strong hand, keep that finger off the trigger until back on target.

    My gamer gun has an extended release, thumb will reach it with out twisting it around, however if you have to go for it off a table and push down on the gun, the mag will pop out. :confused:

  8. :DI have set the matches for the 2008 year. 1-12 will be an IDPA Classifier, 2-9 will be a IDPA pistol match, 3-8 will be a freestyle pistol-shotgun match, IDPA scoring, 4-12 will be a Glock GSSF style match, GSSF scoring and targets, 5-10 will be a IDPA pistol match, 6-14 will be a IDPA pistol match, 7-12 will be a IDPA Classifer, 8-9 will be a Freestyle 3-gun match, IDPA scoring,

    9-12 & 13 will be a Club level IDPA trophy match, 10-11 will be revolver friendly match, 11-8 will be a BUG match and 12-13 will be a steel challenge match, 3-stages, timed event, all steel.

    See you at the range

  9. I built a 16 inch for 3-gun matches using DPMS parts mostly, Bought a DPMS clean flattop upper that has no trap door or bolt assist, mated it to a 16 inch barrell assy. with a 20 inch gas port length, covered it with a Houge barrell tube, comp, ace stock, DPMS lower with JP hammer and stock trigger,added a magwell and eotek red dot. Shoots flat and soft. Thinking about building a 20 inch for those matches with 400 yard shots.

  10. OK, here is what I save reloading .40s&w for competition. It cost me $127. per thousand to reload 180gr. JHP .40 using range brass. The equal in Speer buying in bulk in $289. A savings of $162 per thousand. I shoot about 6 thousand per year. that equals $972. in savings. I have done this for about 5 years, that is $4860. That is a nice chunk of change.
