I use the fry daddy on a regular basis. I wasn’t aware they were no longer in style.

Now the hot air popcorn poppers sucked. They popped corn alright, but then you just had styrofoam. Salt wouldn’t stick to the dry popcorn. It was inedible.

My grandson was so excited when our air popper arrived. He loves making popcorn with it, but NOBODY likes to eat that tasteless styrofoam, LOL. Sadly, he forgets how terrible it tastes and still makes more later. LOL

They do! Depending on preference, but they can get the skins nice and brown to just a little crunchy. 3-4 mins, turn, another 3-4 😉

I think I might have used our air fryer once/twice, but I don't recall needing to turn things over in order for them to cook right. Ours is a basket style, not a toaster oven style. Is flipping things over something you have to do? Maybe I did shake the basket around halfway thru. I don't really recall.

  3. How about a law that says if a congressman proposes a bill that fails to even get 30% of the votes, he/she is banned from proposing another bill until re-elected. LOL Seriously though, this is a time waster, it won't get any support and won't even get voted on by the full house.

It doesn’t.  This false argument for property owners rights was used before to shoot this idea down.  The owner can still ban guns.  It’s just that violating that ban isn’t a criminal offense.  BUT, the owner can enforce it by asking an armed person to leave.  Failing to do so IS a criminal offense, I.e. criminal trespass.  Both sides rights are protected that way.

The article we're discussing reads like the proposed law would allow enhanced permit holders to carry on posted property w/out the owner's consent.

I didn't read anything that said it would remove the criminal penalty for carrying on posted private property if you leave when asked. I'd be strongly in favor of that change. That is what we really need the most.

And my ice-dam is getting close to collapsing:

Not exactly the same thing as your ice dam, but have you seen this cool device for removing the heavy snow?

  6. My cul-de-sac has a decent grade to it and was still nearly a solid sheet of ice ice over an inch thick yesterday. When we left for church I slid to the bottom and barely avoided mailboxes on the way down. It was a lot safer going back up in 4WD than going down.

  7. The warmest things I've ever had on my feet were a pair of Keen hikers with Thinsulate. They weren't cheap, but I've had them since around '07/'08. I think the reason they work so good in cold is because of how thick the sole is. Cold just doesn't reach my piggies through this much rubber/insulation. Good thing too, because I can handle the cold better than most, but when my feet get cold, I'm done.

So normally I have no issues in this area,  but for some reason (probably because of his kids) I am having a hard time telling a friend he is slacking. He's already demonstrated his ability to affectively "hide the truth". However he doesn't do this when someone else is affected. I got him a job when he was in need, but hes in the bottom 40%. The company is not used to me recommending people and the first guy was someone the company was.....stunned and amazed at. The company will take someone no question asked if i recommend them. I had some reservations with this friend, but he is in a bad place and trying to get out.

Do I destroy a friendship and guarantee his kids are taken care of " this assumes he takes the advise " by telling him he needs to get his s$%t together or do I stay out of it and possibly allow mom and step dad to take care of the kids future?

I could be wrong, but I suspect you already have an idea what you think is right in this case. Doing nothing when you were the one who recommended him doesn't seem right. If he doesn't know he's underperforming, that might be why he was in need of your help to get the job to begin with. I pray a wakeup call from a good friend will keep him out of need in the future.

I bet you’re dogs are enjoying a good romp through the snow

The littlest one is half bulldog and half beagle. He runs across the porch and slides in the snow. The big one sticks his nose in the snow and throws it up in the air. LOL

  10. Last time I stuck my wooden yardstick in a flat spot on the back porch it measured 6" exactly. But looking out the front window now, I'd say there closer to 8" on my Jeep now.

So, you saw my wife.🙂 When she got home she said "Look what I got" and pulled out a heater. We already have as backup, two heaters, gas fireplace. and generator. I don't think she planning to get cold if we loose our electricity or HVAC units.

If y'all take Fairfield Pike in/out town, be careful. I always hated driving on that road when it's slippery.

I remember working at a grocery store in high school. I always found it odd that the store was dead until it started snowing. Then business picked up. Then, the worse it got, the more crowded the store became. People kept coming until it stopped, then it was dead again.

I worked at Kroger in Shelbyville my senior year. I remember them rolling all the milk carts out onto the floor and letting customers get their own once because they were selling so fast we couldn't keep the cooler stocked. It was hilarious.

I'll take snow over a tornado any day !

    Amen to that!!

I work from home, we stay stocked up on groceries, and don't have to be back at church until Wednesday, so the snow can come or go, I don't care.

All mine have been really sick the past two weeks. My 17yr old son ran 104 for 4 days. My wife ran 102-104 for 3 days. I had it one night but man! I've never fever ached like that! Everyone has deep lingering coughs.

The wife and son got tested and everything came back as negative for covid, flu, etc.

My wife's an RN and when we were sick she was mostly concerned with whether we had a fever or not. If I understood correctly, she said that was a better indicator of RSV than flu/covid. Two families at church almost lost toddlers to RSV a couple of months ago. It's scary.

  15. It's an interesting mental exercise, but I don't own a 1911 and although I've been doing it for decades, I don't think I do so frequently enough to worry myself.

But what do I'm know, I'm also that idiot who doesn't avoid stepping on cracks at the risk of breaking my poor mother's back.

  16. Everybody at my house got sick a couple of weeks ago. It took about a week to get over the crud, so it was probably something viral like flu or coronavirus. I've learned to keep mucinex, benadryl, sudafed, advil, and robitussin on hand all the time to fight the symptoms, since docs can't do much when it's viral.

  17. Not that it will stop these idiots from passing a law they know is unconstitutional, but the SCOTUS has already ruled that an infringement on ammo is the same as an infringement on firearms. Sadly, the twits that pass these laws have unlimited tax payer dollars to defend these laws in court.
