  1. I got tired of people looking at me when I would talk into my watch, and it bothered me so much that I started CC'ing so people wouldn't look at me and point so much. They still do, even though I CC. I didn't stop talking into my watch though. Think that's the REAL reason?
  2. If it actually went down like the article says then he would have to have been lying down on the floorboard for the gun to go off when he picked it up to have entered his right thigh and continuing on to hit his left ankle. Driving the car and getting shot at that angle puts the gun about mid stomach level. He had no burn marks which would indicate the gun was close to his leg when it went off so I'd call his story complete bull. If the detectives are worth their salt they will have this one figured out soon enough.
  3. Ditto. Ive never ever heard of ANY officer, or for that matter ANY department, allowing it's officers to unholster their weapon for a citizen to hold, nor to allow a citizen to handle their other weapons, shotguns, mp's, ar's, etc. Or for that matter asking a citizen to possibly "back them up". Cops are trained to only trust other officer's when it comes to back up and their training when it comes to things such as this. Not trying to get into a pi*#^ng match here but sounds a little strange to me.
  4. Which section of the TCA is this from, so I can refer to it if it happens to me?
  5. See, thats what Im talking about. It has been brought up here before and the consensus was that you need that HCP to be official. But many people now seem to have had theirs taken. It makes no sense to have to surrender a perfectly good HCP for a receipt. Seems like it could create confusion if youre stopped and only have a receipt. What if the carbons dont clearly show a date? Seems to me that surrendering your valid HCP before it's expired is just the wrong thing to do. But it seems some places do it that way. Any of the more experienced people here want to chime in? Whats up with this?
  6. Along with the receipt you need the HCP itself correct? A friend renewed his license last year at the DOS and they took his license, which was still active, and told him the receipt would serve as his HCP, but I think that is wrong. Possibly someone at the DOS wasn't well versed in how it works?
  7. +1 There are many fine people who consume alcohol who don't cause problems or drive and endanger the lives of others. It's those who don't have respect for people around them, and who can't control their drinking, that are the problem. Like Fallguy said..... just because you drink alcohol doesnt mean you're a drunk.
  8. I agree totally. But some people believe as long as you are below .08 you couldnt be charged with anything while in poession of your weapon. Thats not the way I see it, but others do. Thats why I said there would probably be differing opinions. One word wrong often brings debate.
  9. Heaven forbid someone be faced with the situation of HAVING TO pull your weapon and being under the influence, whether there were ANY limits or not. That would definitely be argued and probably used against the HCP holder, and looked down upon. One reason why I don't drink. And a good reason no one should even take a sip or be under the influence, no matter how little. Just my 2 cents, which Im sure there will be debate.
  10. Had to laugh at this one as I had this happen to me at a local store. A little boy was acting up, not obeying his mother and running up and down the aisles. He smacked into to my side and his head hit my gun. He frowned and went back to her side and kept rubbing his head and looking down at his shoes. He chilled out after that.
  11. Yep, yep...yep...yep... thats the problem ma'am... you're right handed but left eye dominant. My head moved when you closed your other eye didn't it?
  12. He's lucky, along with everyone else in that room, that he didn't hit a student along with his pinky.
  13. Wait. Don't you mean when "discussing" instead of discussion in the above sentence? Don't let that serious misuse of the wrong word mess up this discussion of an important legal issue. Something might get misconstrued.
  14. Well Robert thats what I was referring to.. I simply used the wrong word. I was referring to whatever the OP was convicted for. Excuse me for not using the correct legal term.
  15. Keyword here is "Domestic Assault and Stalking". Also there is the "Domestic Violence" wording there. this is where being in a relationship and if either partner wants to "do one or the other in" all they really have to do is go for the jugular and accuse you of domestic violence. It's a killer for a HCP. And if the partner knows this and wants to get back at you, it's a good way to ruin your ability to carry. If you were facing charges of either those are disqualifiers for a HCP which may have caused the DA or Assistant DA to write that in. Whether or not he wrote it in would not have mattered. If you have been charged with either you will not qualify for a HCP. Doesn't have anything to do with the DuI. Yes, you would have lost your HCP for the duration if that was your only charge, but you would have been eligible after your time and probation was served.
  16. well said.. next time I'll definitely play it that way +10 another good piece of advice. thanks
  17. Ill go with what he said as you are obviously a little slow. Your post didnt answer my question as I don't know whether you have renewed before, therefore your current expiration doesn't mean a thing to me.
  18. So do they change your issue date from when you originally got it to your new issue date? Seems like your losing a few months if you constantly renew real early. If they clip a few months off your original 4 years by issuing your renewal early then you're paying $50.00 now for 3 years 9 months, for instance, if they change your issue date, right?. Doesn't seem fair.
  19. You will find many suggestions on carry holsters but the best thing to do is go somewhere locally if you have such a place and look at as many as you can, try them on, etc. You will more than likely end up with a drawer full until you end up with one you really like. Ive gone from 12.00 Uncle Mike's cheapo's to 100.00 Galco Royal Guard's and found that, believe it or not, the cheap one was the most comfortable. But I didn't like the retention that was lacking on the cheaper one. I preferred OWB, but recent stomach problems has made me lean toward IWB more. I couldn't find one I really liked til I bought one from a company called Gazelle holsters. They have one that, quite honestly, is so comfortable I actually forget Im carrying it after an hour or so. It's leather with suede lining and a metal clip which fits over your belt. I carry a Glock 23, which is the same in holster size as a G19. You can see a picture of it here. Auctiva Image Hosting
  20. Did you mean a "Bianchi" Carrylok 82?
  21. Well done. I suggested in another thread of creating a downloadable letter one could fill in the business's name and other details to make it easier for MANY of us to do just this, to let these business's know they would LOSE our business and how misinformed they were. My idea was shot down by many as being " HCP holders are only 2% of a business's clientele and complaining will do no good". Maybe those who felt my idea was so wrong will see the good your letter did. Way to go.
  22. Ok. First and foremost let me say that this is the first I have seen or heard of this thread. My 23 yr old son came to see me for a few days and used my computer. We went shooting because he recently got his carry permit. He posted this thread, not me. He got called out by an off duty officer at the mall for his gun being slightly uncovered and he got upset over it. He told me about it and I told him that he might want to check out TGO and look around, maybe he could see what some others had possibly been through, etc. My computer was on, and when I come here I don't have to login every time, so when he posted his thread he did so under my name. Lesson learned for me. Secondly, I work long hours with an air rescue helicopter service and don't always, on my days off, sit in front of the computer, so by the time I next came here to look around the thread had died down enough to where it was not on the first page of threads. I rarely go back and look at threads past the most recent ones. Seeing this today shocked me, and honestly p*@^*# me off in a few ways, but that's neither here nor there. I apologize for my sons remarks and apologize mostly to Fallguy, as I have read and read this post, and his first comment to the post, and honestly don't see what my son got so offended about. He's young, has had some hard times lately, and having just gone through a divorce recently has made him a little sensitive to what other people say to him, but again, no reason I can see that he should have gotten upset over this. From there, I'm going to simply say that I found it very mature of Fallguy to not lash out at him with name calling and insults. It takes someone with a cool head and years of wisdom to not feel the need to do so. I appreciate that and think it shows alot of character. I was surprised at many of the other comments and insults from others and felt that they were a little harsh, but again, that's they're right to do so. What my son said, and how he reacted was, in my opinion, uncalled for, but I don't think calling him a dick and a jerk was an appropriate way to react by anyone other than Fallguy, who chose to shrug it off. Again, I apologize to Fallguy for what my son said. I learned early on in life (from the military) to hold my tongue, and hold it well. Doing so and just giving things time will often save you alot of heartache and alot of extra hurt. I feel I have lost any respect or credibility now on here if I choose to comment or post something as others who might not have seen MY post say, "Yeah, he's an ass". But I will keep the username. It reflects to a life altering time in my past and I kinda like it. Stay safe.
