  1. the Deputy Director of the VA state police right now is answering questions asked by the VATech review panel and has no clue about half of the laws/restrictions he's being asked about. "um that was put in place before i was here so im not really sure about that" "um i'm not really sure how many rounds the past ban on magazines was, maybe 12-13..." come on, trying to inform people with an uniformed "expert" ?? if you are on right now, you should turn to cspan and watch this

  7. i'm wondering if she was trying to prove a point here, how easy it was for her to bring a gun into the school and shoot it without anybody being able to do anything. just curious if that's what's going to come out in court.
  8. http://www.asiamedia.ucla.edu/columns.asp?parentid=67957 "So let's just disregard all the hoopla about the racial identity of the student responsible for the slayings. These students were not killed by a Korean. They were killed by a 9mm handgun and a 22mm handgun." edit: just like fords and hondas kill people from road rage... damn those cars let's get rid of them
  9. how do i always miss the good stuff? oh well, i love this forum
  10. when you get it, use it! exercise your rights. i've got a couple friends from college (married couple) who have theirs and NEVER carry! make sure you understand your new responsibilities BEFORE you ever carry. i'm sure you'll find plenty of advice here if you have any questions we're all here to help. congrats
  11. very expensive as far as there internet pricing. $200 but that said for a "gun" i was going to ask while i was in there if there was just a slide price, but to answer your second question, they seemed like a bunch of know it all jerks. four of them were in a corner on the other side of the shop telling stupid stories as loud as they could to look like they were smart while the other two were standing around with their thumbs somewhere trying to organize the range
  12. warning, the following pics are not for the squeamish! i shot a stock 9 this weekend and started to like the slim grip without the hogue, so i took off the hogue and did some more stippling. i like the feel and the look, still might do the thumb grooves.
  13. by the way, tungsten, your xd9 shot great! first time shooting the xd in 9, as with my .40's i loved it. tyler was extremely pleased. thanks again man
  14. went to coal creek on saturday morning in knoxville. indoor range, custom shop, and high prices. their organization skills left much to be desired. we walked in right behind a big group of which half were shooting (about 6) and they were going to allow the rest to stand on the range and watch (which i did not agree with) two men behind the counter, one asked for our name and said we'd be called when a lane opened. after about a 20 minute wait the other guy calls our name and says we're on lane one. he asks how to spell my name and puts it in the computer. "have you ever been here before?" i reply "no" and in a huff he says, "well you have to fill out this paper work!" turns to the other guy "these guys have been standing here this entire time and haven't filled out the paper work?!" nobody told us we had to fill out paperwork! so we fill out the paperwork, range safety and whatnot, then he basically re-reads all the rules to us out loud and says "okay, we'll call you when we have a lane available!!" so the other guy says "i thought we had a lane for them?" he replies, "we DID have a lane, but their paper work wasn't done." and walks off to do an intro for another class. other guy goes back over the paperwork as guy one did and then we finally get on to the range, which is crowded with a group of 12, 6 of which are shooting. all this took an hour! we get to our lane (against the wall) and they have lights set up at 7, 15 and 25yrds. but they are only on one at a time, ie. if you want to shoot at 7, you turn the knob to 7yrds. there is general lighting upto 7 yards, but it's black everywhere else. you literaly cannot shoot at any other distances because it is so dark. the targets (which you tape onto a piece of cardboard) are tough to get into the light because they dont' stop the moment you let go of the switch, they run a little bit. i heard a few people complaining that their 15yrd lights were out and the guy told them, "yeah, we've ordered new ones." so they could only shoot at 7 or 25. the last thing was that you didn't pay until you were done, which meant that we had to stand back in line when we were done. all in all the shoot took 2 and a half hours for about 350 rnds. not the most efficient shoot i've ever been on. the range cost was $15 a lane for as long as you wanted $7.50 per additional shooter up to three. i thought my range was bad, but after this im glad i'm a member. http://coalcreekarmory.com/indoor_range.php
  15. "bump" and "btt" those are the ones that come to mind, but if it's a big deal then no worries

  18. i'm in knoxville this weekend taking a buddy shooting and need a cheap place to shoot tomorrow morning, anybody know of anything? coal creek armory has an indoor range and wants $15 a lane + $7.50 additional shooters. would love to spend that money on ammo! quick help would be great! thanks fellas
  19. exactly! the states set their own laws under the umbrella of the constitution. if the state steps over those bounds then the federal gov. steps in and says no. that way if you don't like the laws in state 1 then you could go to state 2. there should never be set rules (except for the constitution and the BoR) for the entire nation. wasn't supposed to be the way it is.

    Joke Thread

Walmart One day, in line at the company cafeteria, Joe says to Mike behind him, "My elbow hurts like hell. I guess I'd better see a doctor." "Listen, you don't have to spend that kind of money," Mike replies. "There's a diagnostic computer down at Wal-Mart. Just give it a urine sample and the computer will tell you what's wrong and what to do about it. It takes ten seconds and costs ten dollars . . . A lot cheaper than a doctor." So, Joe deposits a urine sample in a small jar and takes it to Wal-Mart. He deposits ten dollars, and the computer lights up and asks for the urine sample. He pours the sample into the slot and waits. Ten seconds later, the computer ejects a printout: "You have tennis elbow Soak your arm in warm water and avoid heavy activity. It will improve in two weeks. Thank you for shopping @ Wal-Mart." That evening, while thinking how amazing this new technology was, Joe began wondering if the computer could be fooled. He mixed some tap water, a stool sample from his dog, urine samples from his wife and daughter, and a sperm sample for good measure. Joe hurries back to Wal-Mart, eager to check the results. He deposits ten dollars, pours in his concoction, and awaits the results. The computer prints the following: 1). Your tap water is too hard. Get a water softener. (Aisle 9) 2). Your dog has ringworm. Bathe him with anti-fungal shampoo. (Aisle 7) 3). Your daughter has a cocaine habit. Get her into rehab. 4). Your wife is pregnant. Twins. They aren't yours. Get a lawyer. 5). If you don't stop playing with yourself, your elbow will never get better! Thank you for shopping @ Wal-Mart
  21. true. with the offset from the lower sales tax i think the difference is like 0.25%? from TN
  22. i lived in va for 7 years before moving here. not much different to tell the truth. the vehicle emissions testing is done every year and you have to put ugly stickers on your windshield (cost was $50 when i lived there, moved in '00) didn't carry when i was there (wasn't old enough) but through traveling there a lot, the carry laws are pretty much the same (don't quote me on that)
  23. as you mentioned, as with any breed of dog, the owner is responsible for the behavior. all breeds have tendencies, be it for hunting, violence or hauling but if the dog is properly taken care of, ie. trained and excersized, those tendencies can be easily controlled.
