  1. Thanks, Yeah Darth is a "probie" on protecting the household handgun. He knows if there are any screwups I'ma throw his candy ass in a bowl an set him in the middle of a circle of neighbor ladies at the next monthly book club gathering. FYI (cause everybody asks) the FFL on the Light Saber is in my name. If he goes to the dark side the red Light Sabers are NFA and I'll be really pissed having to deal with that paperwork.
  2. Roger That! When I read this one of my first thoughts was this is a good and right thing to do for our younger brothers and sisters. Many of our kids go to college at 18 and live off campus. Often in higher crime areas without the right to posess or carry a pistol to defend themselves with. My next thought was about the differences there would be, if this were successful, between the age to purchase & possess handguns and the age for purchasing drinking alcohol, 21 here in TN and most states. I can hear this argument starting now "I can buy a gun but can't buy beer?" However as the NRA points out "the right to bear arms" is constitutionally protected and has been expanded now since the McDonald decision. The "privilege" to drink is not.
  3. HI TGO, Finally got around to taking pics of my birthday present (aka Dad's new "toy") and had a little fun. Hope you enjoy Sig Sauer P226 TACOPS 9mm with Range Bag and some of the other gear. Purchased at Austins TN FireArms in Oak Ridge. Big Thanks to Mike & Don. Go Check em out. Good guys and good deals. IMHO. My SIG SAUER P226-TACOPS 9mm and accompanying gear. Protected by Jedi when It's not with me. Say Hello to Darth Sauer (aka Sith Sauer) A Little closer look
  4. Thanks to all. Really nice folks here from what I've seen. Took my 9mm TACOPs to Coal Creek Armory's indoor range Saturday PM. The pistol's shoots and functions great. VERY Happy with my buy. I on the other hand need some work. After 200 rd.s I'd say I avg'd 5 outta 10 inside the 8 ring other 5 scattered right @ 25'. (consistently inconsistent) Did a little online poking around and found some YouTube videos (5 in all) from Sig Sauers pistol shooting wizard Max Michel. Really good tips on competitive shooting. Not that I'm even remotely trying to hint I'm in the same area code of anything that resembles a competitive shooter. But I did pick up several good tips on technique and I certainly need them. Had my grip too far around the pistol towards to front of the trigger & guard and not well supported with my other hand. Live and Learn.
  5. Welcome Aboard!
  6. Thanks to all. Proud to be a Veteran and to be here on TGO amongst fellow Tennessee Volunteers who like the Shooting Sports, Hunting, etc... and a big shout out to our LEO and Military Service Memebers and all stand up for and enjoy our 2nd Amendment rights. Will join the NRA by this weekend. Bubba, I've been looking at ORSA online and will try to go by and check them out ASAP. Hey if anybody is a SIGforum.com member could you please give the SigForum ADMINs a shout and ask em to hook me up on their forum as well. I registered with them same time as here early last week and are still getting the "--Awaiting Approval: we have not yet approved your membership." I'm Red9MM on their board as well. Thanks in advance if you can help a brother out.
  7. Hi, Hey, Hello, and Howdy to all, Lifetime gun fan here but first time gun owner. Why, Oh why, did I wait so long... anyway. Just picked my first (but not my last) handgun yesterday. A Sig Sauer P226 TACOPS in 9mm with 4 - 20rd. mags, from Austins Firearms in Oak Ridge. Many, many Thanks to Don & Mike! Good guys, nice and very knowledgeable, I recommend you check 'em out if you're nearby, or passing thru. When I bought my pistol there was a guy there from SOCAL who was traveling on company business and stumbled on their shop. I also got the really nice SIG SAUER Range Bag they had. Lots of room for storing gear. I don't know if I've found all the compartments that thing has on it yet! I did "read the friendly manual" and gave it a thorough cleaning/lube and function check last night and it is just an awesome weapon to hold in my hands, very comfortable with the magwell polymer grips and the DA/SA SRT trigger. Seems to me to have a less "bulky" feel compared to other P226's I've tried before deciding on this beast. I'm really looking forward to getting to the range (CCA, or maybe Gunny's) this weekend to run it thru its break in . Hope to see some of you there.
