I bought some Tapco gear (I recommend their stocks, but not their foregrips--they seemed jakey to me) and enjoyed it for awhile, but when I realized I just put too much plastic on it I went back to wood. I'm pretty happy with it now, but I'll accessorize my AR and leave my AK alone. I also hear that an Ultimak fore grip rail coupled with an Aimpoint are just tops. They allow co-witness, and look really neat. Let me see if I can find a pic... Huh, will you look at that. On the front page of Ultimak's website there's a pic: AK-47 Accessories, AK-47 Mini-14, Mini-30, M1 .30 Carbine Scout Scope Mount from UltiMAK That's pretty much what you'll end up with. I wouldn't be too worried about your Aimpoint getting cooked from the heat. Good luck, sir.

I'm not the OP, I just live in the same town as him. But I may be looking into a new trigger. I'll have to pay it off and see for myself, then maybe shoot you a PM if I consider it. Thanks.

I was refering to other forums where everyone will tell you, "if not DD, it's crap." I have nothing but the highest regard for many of the members here. You've all been very helpful and knowledgable. I apologize if wires got crossed. Yes, it was a complete rifle, with new Magpul furniture that fit the hands well. EDIT: Just wanted to add that I skimmed through the previous posts, so if you did suggest DD, that's no problem. They're high on my list of respectable riflemakers, but I've run into a few men and women who believe they're top dog for just owning one. Again, apologies.

I just put some money down on the last Del-Ton they had at Frontier Firearms in Kingston today (Wednesday), and I did so because the price was great (came to about $875, total) and I've heard nothing but good things from people who aren't balls-deep (excuse the term) in LWRC or other high-end brands. It's my first adventure into the AR platform and I'm pumped.

Good point. You all seem like a level-headed bunch so now I'm fully onboard.
-
In every room there is at least one loaded firearm, so I'm pretty well protected.

ZS is full of a bunch of wannabe operators, IMO. I swear, I can't log in without seeing some dude showing off his SCAR or "tacti-cool" gear (and they use that term). Not to say I wouldn't join if something like this was put together, as they are pretty knowledgable.

Thanks, I was thinking of picking up the DMS-1 and now I'm sold on it!

I appreciate the help, RDog. I'll be sure to ask.

A lot of fun. Had it for awhile now but I'm only level 17. Zombie mode seemed a bit too much for me to tackle myself, and only idiots play in open games online (no offense intended, it's just hard to coordinate when you don't know a person) SPOILER: Also, loved the ending where you get to choke the guy.

I'm ordering from the DPMS rifles area, do you think I should still call them up and ask?
-
It seems here, like everywhere I have checked, I'm seeing mixed reviews. I'll just have to be very cautious when I do order, I suppose. Thanks, guys.

I'm planning to buy a rifle from them over the next several months (it was the cheapest I could find in the configuration I could find) and I just feel that the site is a bit... off. I was curious if anyone has anything to say about them? Thanks, Jon

Yeah, the guys on the forum (myself included) have been requesting that the homepage be updated, but so far it's been ignored. Oh well, no biggie. I love half.com

No, Survivors has yet to be released--with the passing of Z. A. Recht they had to find a stand-in author to finish the book. Hopefully he'll have it pushed out soon. Here it is: http://themorningstarsaga.com/ Personally, I liked the older cover better, but it isn't in print anymore: http://www.amazon.com/Thunder-Ashes-Morningstar-Strain-Pt-2/dp/1934861014/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1289690284&sr=8-2

I can't remember the last time I went to West Town, but back then it was part of a list of "do not allow"s and not a government sign. Doesn't that mean it's not an offense to law, just mall policy?

They LR-308 flat-top was my first choice, I found it in a shop nearby for $1,068--and that's cheapest I've found for a new one. But I don't think I should go shorter than 18"
-
I was actually looking into the DPMS line of .308s (Possibly the Oracle, if they ever came out with an 18" version). Seems like a great price and equally good reviews. Which of the line do you have, and what do you think of it? Also, that set up on your Garand would be nice if I could co-witness with the irons. Of course, co-witnessing was unheard of back when these rifles were first introduced.

That's a nice rifle. Good decision.

Anyone playing it? I'm a third-shifter and had the night off, so I picked it up and started playing it. It's kicking some ass currently, but I may be halfway through. If anyone wants to know my GT is MSSRCS1
