  1. Yeah I had the strip in my last truck (f150) and I loved it. The windshield is not as tall in this truck and a decent sized strip would go pretty far down the window. I just didn't think I would like having a little tiny strip on it so I opted out. But what you say is true; it does provide alot. I was also scared I would be asking for it with the strip as it is IMO very eye catching.
  2. Thats a great deal! It's definately worth it to get it done. You'd spend $50 at autozone on tint and razorblades to do it yourself plus you get the better quality metalized tint and not the dyed stuff.
  3. Mine was about $168 with taxes. I did not get a strip on the front glass.
  4. I ended up going with 15%. They did a great job and only took about 15 minutes. A+ for Tennessee Tint Co. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  5. Man comments like that make me wanna go darker now! haha. The only reason I am considering 35% is the whole inspection thing. I don't have one now since I live in Moscow. I am not planning on moving into Memphis or Bartlett. We will be "in the country" somewhere around here hopefully. I don't expect to ever be pulled over for 20% because it isn't that dark. I just don't know!!
  6. Here is a pic of the truck before the tint. I have pretty much decided on 35%. We are planning on buying a house in the next year or two and I'd rather not have to redo this if we move to a strict area. Will have the after pics later today. [/url] Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  7. That's about what I figured. I'll probably go with 20%.
  8. Anyone have an opinion on 35% versus 20%. I know the legal limit is 35% and I'm all about following the law but do you think I will be satisfied with 35%? I don't want it so dark I can't see out but do want a little more privacy. I've never had metalized tint so I'm not sure how the looks differ from dyed. Some friends and the installer seem to think I could get away with 20% and never have trouble. If I do ever get pulled over or go through a road block the first thing I do is roll those windows down.
  9. They want $150 for my truck which isn't much more than the others using dyed film. I'm satisfied with that and have an appointment for next Saturday. I'll post up before and after pics for everyone when it's done. Thanks for the advice!
  10. Based on Scotts profile on TN Tint he sounds like he would do a good job. I have almost decided on them but am waiting on a response and a quote. I have been quoted between $109 and $140 on a few others but would pay a little more for a job well done. Anyone have any idea what TN Tint usually starts out at? I would just be getting the two side windows and a solid back glass done in either the metallized or ceramic tint based on what they carry. No dyed junk.
  11. Does anyone have any experience with window tinting shops around the memphis/collierville area? I know Camper City in Horn Lake does a good job but that's a long drive. I know it's almost impossible for the tint to be done perfectly but the few I've done turned out looking good with not alot of air or trash under them. I would do it myself but it's in a newer tacoma and I just can't seem to get it cut right. Anyways any recommendations would be great. Thanks!
  12. Since polishing I have put at least 200 rounds through it of ball ammo and one mag of golden sabres with no failures of any kind! as posted before I didn't have failures to begin with but now I have that peace of mind (and a shiny barrell). Thanks for all the info!
  13. I have watched the videos online and even though I haven't tried the dremel option people have had good results using automotive sandpaper. I actually had good results this way and have a smooth shiny finish but some machine marks still remain. Not pits or anything the finish is smooth to the touch just visible marks remain.
  14. I've only put a little over 50 rounds through it since I've had it with a combination of FMJ and JHP with no FTF or FTE's. I just wanted to have that peace of mind that my feed ramp is as smooth as it can possibly be since it is a self defense gun. I only did what was needed to smooth the feed ramp and no more so I am not worried about that. I agree that more sanding results in more metal coming off and thus changing the shape. I just figure there has got to be a way to "buff out" those marks. If not then it is what it is. It's looks way better than it did and I am happy with it. Just curious if I could go farther without damaging anything.
  15. Well I could not find a felt tip at either home depot or lowes and I didn't want to wait and order it so I bought a pack of 600 grit wet or dry and an assorted pack of 1000,1200,1500, and 2000 grit. The feed ramp came out nice and smooth which was my main objective. I was also able to get a smooth and reflective (but not mirror) finish on the top of the barrell but I can still see machine marks. I used the 600 grit followed by 1000 grit and finished with mothers mag polish and a cloth. I can't get those marks to go away!! I tried to take a pic to show you but it's hard to get it to show up. I didn't want to keep sanding before I got more advice. Help?
  16. You said it didn't have a ground; only black and white. You may know this but you can't cap either of those. They both have to be connected to their respecting wire. If it does have a bare or green wire the you could prob cap it off. I'd just ground it to the case like enfield said.
  17. Well if it's that easy I may have to consider it then. There are just so many conflicting opinions on which way to do it! Thanks guys. I'll post pic later on to show the damage. haha
  18. I have decided I would like to polish the whole barrel on my PF9. It is kind of tarnished on the top so I figured I would do the whole thing while I do the feed ramp. I read somewhere that a guy used flitz, a paper towel and some elbow grease to polish his. Any comments on that? I am scared to use a dremel since I have never used on before and don't want to buy a new barrel. If this is not a good idea I guess I will buy an assortment of 600 grit and up and do it that way. Suggestions?
  19. Well I got the handall Jr. on and it fits and feels way better than the Limbsaver. I haven't shot yet but I believe the limbsaver will do more for the recoil felt than the houge but it is just to bulky and a little more "sticky" than i'd like. I'd have to recommend the handall jr.
  20. My wife and I both get pretty good gas mileage( I have a tacoma and she has a new camry) and while we are not starving due to the gas prices it still stings a little at the pump. Granted I hardly ever watch the news and get most of my info on the state of things in the U.S from my boss, I wish I had a clear answer as to why gas prices are so high and continue to rise.
  21. I don't see the prices going down anytime soon and that would be a good idea for someone getting 8mpg to consider but as crimsonaudio said a new car note is probably not going to help. He shouldn't have said that in response to the question asked. IMO
