  1. I just picked up a Ruger Security Six 4" barrell and am interested in getting an IWB holster for it. I've never carried anything this big IWB before so any advice is appreciated. I don't have a clue where to begin for a holster but I didn't see either kholster or crossbreed selling one.
  2. Thanks man. I'm familiar with him. I think I bought a dash kit or something from him. I usually do my own stuff (we see how that turned out haha) but thanks anyways!
  3. Just to clarify this is not an engine noise hiss that whines when I accelerate or anything. It can be heard when the vehicle is off. I quieted it down by turning my amp gains all the way down and I think changing the level on the LOC is going to correct the problem. I am mainly wondering now the best process to set these gains (Murgatroy pretty much answered it I hope). Thanks!!
  4. @ zapfbroad. I am running 75w rms to each door component and 100w rms to my 8" sub. All at 4 ohms and matched with the speakers ratings. 4 Gauge wire from battery to a dist. block and 8 gauge to each amp from there.
  5. I put the LOC behind the HU in the dash so I am using those wires for power and ground. I am almost certain the hiss is gain/level related as all the wires are routed like you have recommended. I will try that with the amps half way up. Also at Murgatroy: I never have like LOC's either but I like the factory look and this active LOC seemed to be my best bang for the buck. I am usually pretty good with an aftermarket radio as I only have to set the levels on the amp. I'm all confused since I have one extra now though! Thanks for the advice and keep it coming!
  6. Yeah that's what I figured. Do you think it would affect the actual sound of the system if I had the gain on the amp higher than the converter or vice versa?
  7. Thanks man. Yeah I will do that but I thinks it's a level issue. I already had everything in my system just changed back to the factory HU so the grounds were good before. Would you think I should just put the levels on the converter about middle ways up? If I set it like I normally do my amps I would take it down about a quarter turn once I see it is distorting or clipping or in this case the llittle maximize light coming on.
  8. Hey guys I have this posted on another website so I'll just copy and paste my post. I'm having a little issue with my new audio setup in my truck and am hoping someone else may be into car audio on here. Thanks Ok here is my setup: Factory HU ran to a Audio Control LC2I Line output converter. LOC to 2 channel amp for doors and a seperate 2 channel bridged to my sub. Per the instructions that came with the LOC I should set the volume of the HU 3/4 of the way up and slowly turn the gain knobs on the LOC (one for full range and one for bass output) until the maximized light starts blinking. I am assuming this means the signal is clipping. I did that but when I go to set the gains on my amps they basically have to be all the way down in order to not distort the speakers. They sound good now but I can hear a small hiss and I am sure the levels are not set correctly. I know the purpose of the gain knobs is to try to "match" the output of the radio to the amp or something like that but if someone could give me some pointers I would appreciate it. Also this LOC has the Accubass feature which is supposed to correct the factory bass rolloff of the HU but I didn't really notice any so I left it off. Thanks
  9. Don't like it at all. I think with pocket carry you do lose that ease of access in some cases although others may disagree. I think this will give a false sense of security to some new to carrying. I hope it doesn't take off.
  10. Good points RobThatsMe. Also If Victor9er doeesn't mind I also vote to make this a sticky. Again I'm sure i've seen this info somewhere on here before but it would probably be of benefit to have easy access to it. Thanks!
  11. Yes that is great! Thanks for your help and I will post up the response I get.
  12. I'm pretty sure I've seen something on this topic posted before but I didn't find anything with a quick search. Forgive me if it has and please post a link. I want to write a letter to the Osaka restaurant in Collierville asking them to remove there posted sign. I thought they had removed it there for a while but it turns out they just had it covered up with a flyer. I was going to speak with the manager in person but I believe I could convey my point a little better in a well written letter. That is where I need your help. I have never done this before so I need a few tips on format and specific topics or cases I could use to present my argument. Any sample letters would be helpful too. I know basically what to put in the letter but again this is my first time and I want it be as well written as possible. Thanks!
  13. Yeah my tacoma is pretty much stock with the exception of tires and wheels and cosmetic stuff. I'm not looking for anything ridiculous; just something to give the 4WD a good test. The wife and I are planning on taking a trip to Hot Springs. I showed it to her online and she said "I don't want you to tear your truck up!" haha. I hope I don't............
  14. My step brother just told me about a place in Fulton, MS called Barnyard mud boggers but as the name suggests it's a bunch of mud holes.
  15. Seems like there was a trail just inside Arkansas somewhere. I went with a buddy a while back but I can't recall where it was. It was a small family owned deal just getting started but was good. I may try Hot Springs if it merits the drive. Thanks
  16. Yes. You have to let it ALLLL the way back out or you will have a light strike. I think they may even mention it in the manual but don't quote me on that. Not my favorite thing about the gun but for the price I can't complain. I will also note I never had any feeding issues or issues of any kind with mine but I still polished the barrel and slide ramp up.
  17. This is a little off topic but not really. I am on another truck forum and the opinions on the timelines of changing fluids other than oil vary greatly. I was recently interested in changing my differential and transfer case fluid in my Tacoma and while some recommended every 50K some said never in a round about way. Also Toyota states their pink coolant is good for 150K miles and some will still insist on sooner. I am by no means an expert but as many others have said a little peace of mind goes a long way so don't feel too bad.
  18. I put the Hogue Handall JR. on mine and it helped the recoil alot. It wasn't so much the force of the recoil that hurt. It was actually pinching and rubbing blister in my hand from the texture of the grip. I'd get one. If not you shouldn't have any trouble selling or trading it.
  19. Anyone know of any good truck trails around Memphis? I don't really care for mud riding. More along the lines of just trail riding/climbing but mud is okay. I've never done it before and am trying to get interested. Thanks.
  20. Haha. Wonder what the guy in the bottom of the pic is thinking. Judging by his face.........
  21. Thanks guys. I have decided to go ahead and use this outlet as it is a quality outlet but I am also going with a surge breaker. Regarding the strip surge protectors mentioned above. I have several of those but just thought it easier than trying to run some type of jumper through the wall and hiding the strip. Again thanks for all the info!
  22. I think the only issue I would run into with the surge breaker is if the surge originates from the within the circuit. If I am wrong please correct me but say the tv is plugged into the 3rd outlet in the chain. If the surge originates from something plugged into the first or second outlet I would think the TV could still receive the surge. Doesn't the breaker only protect from surges before it makes it to the panel?
