No Gander Outdoors for Chattanooga Area

Recommended Posts

Early on in the liquidation I talked to a few of the manager type employees. They all said they had been told the store would open and had plans to compete with Academy Sports in product quality and price. These same employees said they had been told they would be retained as employees. Now, the store has been listed as one chosen not to be pursued and would be cut from the list. Only 57 stores will open back up. The only one in Tennessee is in Jackson.

Well, the GM in Knoxville was always overpriced IMO, so not a great loss that it won't re-open, but competition is always a good thing for the consumers.

True and prices seemed to be the same at all of them, but the new owners had stated they wanted to compete with Academy Sports and AS is my go to store. I was hoping to see what the new owners would do with it, but won't get the chance now. I agree competition is always a good thing for consumers.

AS is a decent store, my closest store doesn't have a good selection of re-loading supplies, just the basics but that is better than nothing.  The new owner of GM/GO may not want Trump supporters in his stores and that is his reasoning for not re-opening a lot of stores.  LOL

AS doesn't have much in the line of reloading for sure. They are really geared up for hunting, fishing and such though. I buy a lot of stuff from there. Even their Magellan brand of shoes and clothes are very good for the price you pay.
