I have a XD 45 that has seen better days in the finish department. The Weapon is only a few months old but I have used it hard, what I bought it for.I was looking for a place local that does Nitron, Tennifer and Melonite.I don't mind sending the slide out ,but I like keeping my $$$$ local.

Hard to believe you'd get that kind of wear in only a few months, unless you had a Kydex holster laminated with sandpaper on the inside.

At any rate, Springfield is really good about refinishing in Melonite under warranty if there's the least chance the finish was substandard and maybe even if it was not.

Hmmm... might call the gunsmith up at G&L, if anyone local can do it, he'd probably know. You could also contact John Wall, who I think still posts here on TGO

Well, I'd certainly approach Springfield first, unless you just insist on spending money without even checking.

Some pretty amazing customer service stories on XDtalk.

Incidentally, XD warranty states that only the "original retail purchaser" is warrantied, but have found no case where subsequent owners have not been served too, so seems to be "for the life of the gun" for all practical purposes.

If all else fails we, Coal Creek Armory, have been offering the Melonite finish for several years and can fix you right up right here in Tennessee.

We've done loads of XD slides, no complaints.

Well it is not your standard use it has been drug though mud, dirt, sand, water, all the possible bad elements you can think of.I took several Tactical shooting classes with it and a few of my friends used it to take the same class, the weapon has over 6000 rounds through it.I am the original purchaser and sent in my warranty card like I do with every new firearm I purchase.Me personally I don't think Springfield will warranty this finish it is not their fault I put the weapon though this.I will call Jeff at Guns & Leather to see what they offer . Thanks for all the quick replies.

Ok I will get you some pic of the carnage.I put this weapon through hell and it has performed flawless.I tell you a lot of people scoffed at the weapon when I brought it to all the classes ,but when I got done with it they changed their tune.
