renewal 60 days and countiing

Recommended Posts

My renewal has been gone 60 days now and was told today it could be up to 60 more. I know TN says the receipt is good enough to continue to carry. My question is how to explain this to an out of state officer who has an expired license in their hand? I just do not understand, as an employer I can have a backgroung back in 1 day and it takes the state 3-4 months:screwy:

You know...I have never thought about the out-of-state thing. That is a very good point.

I only renewed mine a couple of weeks ago and it expires in May. Wonder if it'll be back before some out of state trips in June?

The only reason I can think that it takes so long is the low staffing of the HCP office and the fact there is a statutory time limit of 90 days on new applications and no time limit on renewals. So I imagine renewals are a lower priority, especially since you can still carry with the receipt.

But that may not help with out-of-state officer........

I called on mine Tues. they said they received it on Feb. 10 and will take up to 90 days also said none of the backgrounds had come back yet. I say call them maybe if enough people call they'll get moving to stop the calls, but then again this a Gov. agency so probably not.

6 months before the expiration date

Sounds like it would be worthwhile to take advantage of that 6 month advance. I know I still have 3 years left on mine but doesn't hurt to look ahead.

Got my renewed license today. Sent in paper work on 1/21 and received today 3/27. Not bad, didn't even make a phone call. Good till 2013 and since its all suppose to end in 2012 I'm good to go.--MP :D

If I get mine in the same time frame I should have it right around when it expires myself.

But I hope to get to renew it again...despite what the Mian calendar, Nostradamus say or what BHO may do. :P
