Looking for Red Dot Scope

Recommended Posts

Posted

My Son in law got a Rossi Lever action 44mag rifle for Christmas and is looking for a Red Dot scope for it and I told him to let me check with folks here first. Myself, I think it is to much scope for the range of the gun but his heart is set on that combo so I'm not gonna argue with him. If anyone has one here wants to get rid of a Red Dot please let me know.

    Thanks

How does he plan to mount it?  If it's an R92 with a Picatinny rail, mounting one will be easy, but if the rifle doesn't have a rail, mounting an optic is going to be a challenge, plus it will look goofy.  (Some guys will say a lever action with a rail already looks goofy, but I'm not going to get into that.)

My opinion, which is worth everything you pay for it, is that he should start looking at Holosun models and find one with a window size and reticle that he likes.  There are several possibilities.

I am 100% with folks that think a scope on a Lever action

Brush gun is really a waste of money. I grew up deer hunting with my grandfathers Winchester Model 94 and I bagged 32 over the time I was able to pass it down to my son Ronnie and he bagged his first deer and his17th Deer before he passed it down to his son Justin who also bagged his first deer and I don't know how many he will end up with because he is still hunting with it. He is a very good hunter. I will post a picture of him with a deer he bagged in Texas while on a hunt and no, the 94 does not get credit for the one in the  picture.
