This might have been posted all ready but I thought I would put it up just in case somebody missed it.

Has anyone had the chance to read this yet ?

Some of the high points:

1. Require licensing for anybody that owns a gun.

2. Would require photographs and a thumbprint

3. Would require passage of a test that covers:

(A) the safe storage of firearms, particularly in the vicinity of persons who have not attained 18 years of age;

the safe handling of firearms;

© the use of firearms in the home and the risks associated with such use;

(D) the legal responsibilities of firearms owners, including Federal, State, and local laws relating to requirements for the possession and storage of firearms, and relating to reporting requirements with respect to firearms; and

Was this what they were trying to pass that got everyone all stirred up? I apologize, I honestly didn't know anything was going on until I went to Walmart to get a box of rounds (in March) and mother hubbard found the pantry was bare. I started paying closer attention to the news after that...

So far, this still hasn't gone any farther than this (thank goodness):

ALL ACTIONS:

1/6/2009:Referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.

2/9/2009:Referred to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security.

Of course, it could be buried within another law that no member of Congress bothered to read before they passed it....
