I carry my 637 the most out of my lineup....my only complaint is that the finish coat or clear coat began to wear off the back strap within months of everyday carry. I could have sent it back for a free refinish from S&W, but at the time I decided to bead blast the the clear coat and I like the results. The frame was the only effected area so the cylinder and barrel are still o.k. Since the frame is an alloy I do not worry about rust or any other problems that would normally be a side effect of removing the finish...

My wife carries and shoots a 637. Part of the clearcoat came off. She still

loves the gun and will not part with it to send it back to S&W to get it re

finished. She said it's MY gun and it is fine just the way it it. She carries

and shoots Remington 158 grain +p lead HPs in it. She qualified with it 8 years ago to get her permit.

When everybody starts talking "little" guns the 637 seems to be overlooked. I have a 637 and a 60 and love both. The 637 is easily concealable and tremendously reliable carry gun. It replaces my 642 for pocket carry in those times that I need a really "invisible" gun. I have tried BERSA CCs, Keltecs and the LCP and to me they all recoil worse than my 637 with standard pressure ammo.
