Father to Sons

My mother has been holding onto this since my father passed away about 4 years ago. It's a Belgian made Browning .22 rifle that he bought in 1970 (year I was born) in Germany. It desperately needed cleaning and honestly I don't think the receiver had ever been completely disassembled. Before scrubbing I could pull the action to the rear and it would stay there. After a good cleaning and a little gun oil it's smooth as silk. Pics below:

Does it load in the stock, you pull the rod out of the butt, then you insert the ammo in the side of the stock?

I believe my mom has that rifle, it was my dads before he died, had it for a long time.

Yes. Loads through a small hole in the side of the stock.

Those are cool guns. I need to clean ours up. The last time I shot it, had several FTF's. Might have been the ammo, Remington.

The last time I shot this one I was 14-15 years old. It's been while. I don't think it had been shot or cleaned since then. I'm probably going to try to take it to On Target next weekend and see how it does.

GT Rat,

Good for you, pal.

That's a great story. What a piece of your heritage and history, and an honor and testament to your father for it to end up in your hands.

Cherish it, my friend.
