A friend of mine bought a beretta 92f when you rack the slide the mag unlocks .would this be a mag problem?

Sure it's the right mag?

If so, and the two slits in the mag aren't really irregularly worn/enlarged, I'd think it more likely it's the mag catch/release.

Lock the slide back and insert the mag, see if you can make it fall out by just pushing down on top of it.

It also has a ejection problem don't want to kick out the brass . Pulls it out of the chamber and drops it down.

Mine kicks it out pretty well just hand racking. Dunno, could be ejector protrusion is broken off or something, or extractor is worn to where it gets it out but doesn't hold onto to it long enough. You can field strip it and see if extractor holds it nice and tight by slipping round in there behind it.

You could try a pic of it looking down from the top with slide locked back, might see something obvious, like if whole ejector isn't there or something. Otherwise best to find someone with one and compare as first cheap step.

If it is an F rather than FS then it probably has some years on it, as FS replaced the F quite awhile ago?

The only time I've had stovepipe or poor ejection with 92FS was underpowered weak ammo. The gun doesn't require +P+ ammo but if the ammo is considerably weaker than "average store bought" power then it can malfunction with stovepipes and poor ejection.

Unless you can blame it on the ammo, the problem is most likely stuff OS describes.

Where is the mag release button? The mags for the 92f are different from the 92fs. Is it an original mag or after market? If needed I can put up some pictures of an 92f only and 92f/fs and a 92fs only.
