Hello everyone!

Just joined because of concern about the range at Prentice Cooper.

I was there with family and friends shooting Friday evening and saw the signage about the reduced days of operation. There were two ladies there collecting brass and policing the area. They were great about cleaning up and controlling a group that was going to open up on the pistol range with an AR. There was lots of evidence of steel casings from rifle caliber weapons on the pistol range. The group with the AR left soon after being told "No Rifles On The Pistol Range!"

We enjoyed our time at the range that evening and the two ladies were polite and a benefit as they kept everything neat and clean, they gathered the trash and pointed out the Black Wider Spiders in the rafters. I have been at the range before and it was like walking on ball bearings from all the spent shell casings.

I would hate to see the area lose Prentice Cooper Shooting Range, but if nothing is done to correct the stupidity by some people I fear it will soon close.

I have never had any run ins with any authority figures up there, do not even know if any are close by.

There has to be a way to keep this wonderful benefit open to the public.

Maybe a group could volunteer to help take care of the range by replacing the railroad ties that hold the target boards?Maybe we could form a group, like the ones that help out along the AT. We could go up and do whats needed, ahae a fund raiser, something has to be done to keep Prentice Cooper Shooting Range open.
