I would say good shot, but 150 feet really isnt far for a well aimed shot at that distance. Last week I tuned my Kimber Gold Cup to hit 5 inch plates at 60 yards. Its not hard to hit with a .357 at that distance. On a similar note, I have been looking at the TN Concealed Carry laws since Ill soon be moving up. Seems in a situation like that, in TN, the good samaritan would be in jail. On the TN Dept. Of Public Safety website, is the video that you watch during the safety class to get your permit. I notice they state, then re-enfore this:

1. If you come across a crime in progress, do nothing.

2. Find a safe spot and try to be a good witness.

3. Do not take out your gun, it is only for you personal protection.

4. You are NOT the law.

OK, so in this situation. An officer under fire (A crime in progress), it is against the law in TN for a CCW holder to assist.

Of course common sense should prevail, but just the fact that assisting is illegal should be changed.

It is perfectly legal for a tn hcp owner to aid in the defense of another. The requirements are simple, if you would be justified to use legal force if you were in their shoes, then you are justified in acting in their defense.
