The Henry is probably a little classier and might appeal more to the Cowboy action shooter but the Marlin is the better all around rifle in my opinion. I have several and I have a Marlin 44. I have had Marlin Cowboys in 45-70 and 357, I have the 1895 in 45-70 also. One thing I would suggest is if you want to shoot a lot of cast lead, try and find one without the Microgroove rifling. Some of them can shoot lead but the full rifled guns are a heck of a lot easier to work with. If you are going to stick with jacketed the Microgroove barrels are fine. I have seen a lot of the older guns go for $400 to $450 in standard configuration in 44 mag.
