Anybody use a Lee Breech Lock Press Kit? I can get one for about $75 or so, and I've been thinking about getting one to get me started in the reloading world. Is it a good first press? For the money is there a better starter kit? Problems associated with this press? Thanks!

For the money there is nothing better. It is (IMHO) the perfect setup for the beginning reloader. The set + Die + components will set you back $150 after all is said and done and you will break even in about 1000 rounds....that is if you shoot the same amount every week.

There is something to be said about learning the basics by doing it as required by a single stage press. I have found that experimenting with the loads is almost as fun as shooting them.

I just started reloading a couple weeks ago. I bought the Lee Reloader Press, their model #90045. It cost me $24.99. I figured you can't beat that. Most people that I talk to that have progressive presses say that they still have a single stage for decapping or whatever.

I've started with .38 spls and I've ordered the 9mm dies. Once I get the brass decapped, tumbled, and primer pockets checked, it takes me about an hour and 30 minutes to prime, charge, seat and crimp a hundred rounds. As I'm getting used to what I'm doing , I'm getting quicker. I do each process in bulk batches.

Yes, I agree to start reloading on a single stage. Need to learn the basics before you get a progressive. I'm only going to reload handgun cartridges and once I get through the cartridges that I have, then I'll buy a progressive press.

I'm a single stager that never upgraded.

If you can get enough loading blocks that really helps. I try to do lots of around 200. The bummer for me is crimped primer pockets on rifle ammo. I have a RCBS swage tool, but its still a beast.
