... we actually had people that didn't know how to load the gun at the range! I'm all for 2A rights and everything, but that doesn't mean everyone should be carrying without proper knowledge/etc...

Well, if someone wants to learn and have no family or friends to teach them, where are they supposed to go if not in a class? They have to start somewhere and after class, hopefully, they will be more relaxed and practice at a range often (as we all should).

I am not familiar with them so have no opinion. Just keep thinking about the prize at the end and have fun. Yes, even watching the exciting videos. ;)

Btw, I took mine at CIS and it was a breeze. I had prior experience shooting as most in the class did, but there were a couple that had never held a gun, much less fired one and Todd and Justin were very, very patient. Even loaning one of their own revolvers to a beginner that had brought an automatic that they couldn't use (don't remember why). I would recommend CIS to anyone, whether beginners or experienced shooters. (And no, I am not being paid to do so. :))

Bastet...I didn't know we had TGOers in that class!

Thanks so much for the kind words.

Can anyone recommend some other good places to take the HCP class? CIS is the closest but 7:30 AM would likely kill me :puke: (I get off work at 2am)

On Target has an evening class, but it's more exspensive than most places, $110. They also seem to have less range time, requiring only 50 rounds.

I would say good luck, but honestly you'd have to be semi retarded to fail it. :biglol:

Be sure to take some 'quiet' snacks/drinks.... the classroom part is painful.

btw is the written test multi choice ?

Nope, 1000 word essay.

Have to trace the history of warfare from ancient Greece through the present, with special emphasis on weaponry from WWI and forward.

List the 10 most common handguns for concealed carry and draw schematics of exploded disassembly diagrams.

Few other things like that.

Piece o' cake.

Like Brian said, you'd have to be brain dead to flunk it.

IIRC... half of it was multiple choice (A,B,C,D) and the other half was True/False.

We're certainly in the running, but even if you don't choose us I would encourage you to give your business to one of the schools that sponsor TGO.

South side of Nashville, closest (and maybe under $100) place to take course is . . . _______ ?

Since you are in Leipers Fork you might wqnt to call Nashville Matchmasters to see what their schedule is. Class taught at Spring Hill city hall on Friday night and range part is at their range right off Columbia highway before you actually get into Columbia.

Classes are also taught on an all day Saturday basis at Williamson County Sheriffs Dept. facility. Can't remember name info, but they have a flyer posted at Academy Sports in Cool Springs or you could call and ask the gun counter people and they'd probably give you the info.

Thanks, Todd and OZZ. I'll check Academy for the flier or call. They get a lot of my business. Couldn't locate Matchmasters via whitepages . com, but will keep looking for them too.
