Shotgun barrel work

Any particular reason for this? Depending on the firearm, this can go from useless to hazardous.

An overbored gun is more likely to have performance issues in cold climates with promotional ammo.

An overbored gun is usually less accurate with slugs.

If done for recoil reduction, don't believe it.

With modern shotshells, you will not get a noticeable improvement in patterns. Lengthening the forcing cones will not do this either, and can also compromise cold weather performance.

Some firearms with thinner barrels may become unsafe to shoot when the barrel is made thinner.

Many gunmakers will not repair a firearm that has been altered, and this may decrease resale value.

Speaking as one who has shot clay targets for many years and does work on tournament arms, I do not recommend this operation.

I am looking to do this to make it a shooting match gun (as in shooting paper targets) using a wagner 2-2-10 load. I know it is done all the time to make stock guns shoot better for this particular use.
