I have studied hard on this and there are very few guns that could even be used for this because the rim is so small. You might be able to open up the bolt of a 22 magnum and get a working gun but not sure about the safety of using a rimfire action for it.

Perhaps a better choice would be a Remington 592, with real locking lugs, with a 22 caliber barrel installed and the bolt opened up to accommodate the larger rim.

A 223 bolt head is way to big to be used. You could probably add a bushing but it would require a custom extractor and a new ejector being fitted.

Buy the time you got it built you can probably get pretty close to just buying a used PS90.

I didn't think about single-shots though... could you have a chamber insert made for a .22 Hornet maybe?

First, the easiest would be a PS90, but im assuming you want something else. There is also an AR upper in 5.7 that takes p90 mags and ejects through the standard ar magwell.

You can get a TC Contender in 5.7 if you'd like.

Savage got a bolt action to pre production stage but as far as i know, it never went into production or shipped any.

Therr is nothing else, though. No good base to make a custom from either.

I believe Rock Island makes or is going to make a small bolt action in. 22tcm but thats as close as i have seen.

I have fired a few rounds from a p-90 and it seems like a neat gun but not really what I'd like to have. I'm not a big bullpup fan and I hated the trigger.

I hadn't even thought about getting an AR upper chambered in 5.7 but that may be what I end up doing.

I have Googled it a few times and came up with nothing but I thought I would check here to see if there was such a thing as a 5.7 bolt gun. Thanks for all the information.

Been thinking of getting a barrel for my Contender in 5.7x28 for quite some time now.

I bet a 22 magnum barrel could be reamed out to 5.7x28 pretty easily. And 22 magnum barrels can be found pretty cheap. I have seen them for $150 and you can rent a reamer for not a lot of money and hand ream it yourself.
