  1. Go up to Iron Mtn. sporting clays at the 407 exit.  Hang out there and chat up with the shooters...IMO avoid the 101 and Red Label.  I have had both and the recoil is heavier.  The x25 series guns from Browning will serve fine.  The Berettas mentioned will also.  Skeet and trap are not as popular as they once were, but both are fun.  Sporting clays is the main attraction now and it is basically a 12ga game, as is trap.  The 12 can be 'loaded lite' and be just fine for shooters of all ages.  Fit is important, but don't worry too much about it.  The human body is very adaptable as long as one is comfortable in handling the gun, especially with the LOP (length of pull)

  2. I would recommend the Hornady LNL.  It is a reasonably priced progressive but you can load one round at a time until you are comfortable about moving on.  Plenty of room to separate your bullet seating and finish with a Lee Factory Crimp Die.  I prefer coated bullets from DG bullets.  If you decide to go that route, a little face time help should be easy.

What's really cool is you are free to go get more training, which is a great idea by the way, without government mandating it or even dangling a carrot in front of you to urge you on.

More training is a positive..but in my experience people in general don't even want to get the minimal training of a CCP, much less the ECP given the permitless carry situation.  Basically, not going to happen and generally hasn't been the case anyway.

  4.  should be shooting a 'dot' problem solved 😀  If shooting combat, not going to be making that fine sight alignment at social distances, so really a mute point.  Otherwise, the manufacturers can please some of the people some of the time.....

  5. I have been in medicine 50 yrs.  I am pro choice, but support the vaccine.  Robert Malone, the father of mRNA vaccines summed it up best.  We don’t know all we need to know about the vaccine to use it in children.  Consult your family physician and make your best informed decision.  I personally decided to take my chances with the vaccine vs. the Covid.  It is a non-discriminatory disease that if survived can have life-long life-changing ramifications.

  6. This is a post from the RangeMaster forum.....fyi.....not the way it is suppose to work

Had a very close call in New York City last night. Most all of us that have flown much with guns have heard the same things…… don’t fly to or even through specifically NYC with guns.
I was flying to LA from Ohio, was supposed to connect in Dallas. That got canceled so it was either connect in JFK airport or not make it and miss the class. I thought it’s just a connection, i’m not getting my bag so let’s see what happens. I boarded the flight (American Airlines) and my seat was in the very back. Everybody’s boarded when they called my name over the loudspeaker as two agents came and told me I needed to leave the plane. As I walked off the plane I was told the TSA agents were coming to talk to me as “weapons” were found in my bag and that was a real problem. Mind you I declared my weapons in Columbus OH and signed the proper forms as I’ve done many many times without issue…… and they knew my connection was at JFK.
Long story short I am still technically a reserve/auxiliary police officer and I still have a badge…… they made it sound like they were letting me squeak by. If it wasn’t for that I would have missed my flight, been arrested and it would have cost me A LOT of money…….(I truly think it’s a racket for mainly that reason) What’s weird in my mind is how New York City seems to be so unique for this……. So many other big cities I’ve flown to or through many times with no issue…….but NYC is apparently a different animal. I had heard this before of course but now I have a first-hand account…… i’m guessing some of you guys have stories too…… but I had to put this out there.

show me a W2.  I admitted that is the advertised base salary in my area.  I also said that there isn’t a single officer in that department with that number on his w2.  Keep ignoring me all you want.  You won’t change my mind until you show me a w2.  Then I’ll eat my words.  Every last one.

You really think I would ask someone for a W-2 .  Why don’t you just ask a county deputy, or your average street cop.  Or ask how many hrs they work, or extra side jobs?  Or how many divorces in their dept because of the time away while trying to make ends meet or the stress they bring home.

  8. so Omega and Cap.....no further comment?  Stats got your tongue?  Double my figure, is your risk of life, family, financial ruin worth it in this crazy world.  YOu can be sick of any stat you want, but the reality of today's world of crime and idiots make policing one of the most risky and undesirable professions IMO.

I don’t think there is a single cop in this city that makes only 45k a year.  They are paid better than that.

Yea, that invalidates the whole statement. 🙄

Cops always complain about how much they make but they are never honest about it.  Most of the cops around here that I know have routinely received w2s for six figures.   They make better money than the majority of the city does.

I'm sorry, but I'm tired of hearing how underpaid they are.  They aren't.  They volunteered themselves to do that exact job usually for less money than they currently make.   They aren't victims when it comes to money.

If you want to have an honest conversation about what they are tasked with daily, lets do that.  But money doesn't need to be involved in that conversation.

  10. sure why not?  The police need to be a psychologist, Martial arts specialist, EMT, firefighter, Xpert marksman, stunt driver, friend, father, husband, role-

model, excellent swimmer, and leap tall buildings in a single bound....all while being shot at, spit-on, bitten, stabbed, punched, objects thrown at, eyes lasered, cursed, and having every move critique and reviewed on instant replay with the threat of being sued, jailed, loss of job, losing everything you own, and,  your kids/family'furture for about 45K/yr.

  11. the mental health help needed to start way before he got in the road.  One has to deal with what is immediately in front of him, regardless of the mental history.  Asking officers to go hands on is easy unless you are the one going into the unknown.

It's a real shame that less lethal force couldn't have been used.

Bad guy controlled the response.  I'm glad all officers got to go home.  The law breakers need to obey the officers' commands in just about all of these shootings.

Not completely justified as one officer has been decommissioned. Might get fired.

IMO nothing wrong with shooting.  The guy blocking traffic pulled an object from his pocket and took a shooting stance while pointing object at officers.  Granted, some delayed shots fired after guy was on ground and not an apparent threat.  But dead is dead and with the number of initial shots fired....well, bad optics.
