1. What kind of cost are you looking at for a replacement barrel for a glock 19?  Also what kind of money could you sell a new unshot factory 19 barrel for?  What brand barrels are good but reasonably priced? I just picked up a new g4 19 and I shoot 100% lead reloads in my other guns. The plan was to start reloading plated bullets just for the glock.  If I can "trade" for an aftermarket barrel without being out much money I may do that
2. Well I picked it up and it did come with 3 mags. :) I am now a glock owner. When I got home I could barely look my single action revolvers and 1911s in the eye
3. You can still get brand new gen 3s. Did you get a gen 4? It will say gen 4 on the slide. Everything I have read says they come with 3 mags Edit to add a quick google search indicates that all G4s should come with 3 mags. If you have a G4 I would be interested in hearing you confirm this. I paid mine off of layaway and should pick it up tomorrow or Friday. I will update also
4. Thanks guys.
5. EB-SF and BrianJ, are those Gen 4s?
6. I have always heard that Bud's Gunshop does drop shipping.  Last week I put a Glock 19 G4 and an SKS on layaway (a bit of panic buying I must admit)  At the time they were both in stock, of course.  Now they are not. I paid by CC so my payment would post immediately to "hold" my gun If Buds does drop shipping, I assume they do not have a SKS and Glock in the back with my name on it. With these models becoming a little scarce right now how does my "reserved" gun work?  Is it actually held with Buds or a distributor, or are they hedging their bets that they will be in stock when I pay the off?
7. S&W M&P are nice But so are the Glocks. Anyone here that tells you one is better than the other has an agenda. One may be better for than , but that does not mean it will be better for you. They are too close to call. If you can try them both out. BTW the Gen 4s have interchangeable backstraps like the smith. Also they come 3 mags
8. 2 stores I went into today didn't have in G4s in stock
9. I decided to use the panic buying as an excuse to do something I have been wanting to do for years, buy a Glock. Put a Gen 4 Glock 19 on layaway last night. Placed the order around 2:00 am CST for $580. I just checked Buds and they have raised the price on the G4 19s to $619. I almost went to sleep "thinking about it" but decided to go ahead and reserve it. Some of the other pistols I have been watching the last few days or slowing selling out from their website. (CZ P07, M&P FS 9mm, Ruger SR9 for example) Anyway I am glad I got it when I did.
10. As others have suggested there are other great groups beside the NRA. I just thing it is important to stay together and organized. As much as I love Buds and Midway, making them rich will not help us organize and stand as one
11. If 1/3 if the money spent in panic buying since Friday was donated to the NRA I believe it would get the attention of the politicians. I also hope all the companies making bankroll off of this buying spree will consider putting some of that money into the NRA (or similar groups)
12. I urge everyone out there rushing to buy all the guns, mags, and ammo their credit cards will hold, to consider putting it toward the NRA (or other 2A group if you wish).  When they are ringing you up at the register think about which is more important.    Image if half of the money spent in a panic this weekend went to the NRA, what our community can accomplish.   This is not over yet, we have not lost. Put your money into the fight instead of preparing for defeat.

SIG P290?

I wanted to post this to anyone who might be reading and interested in the P290. Here are a few for anyone who might be considering the P290
The SIG SAUER P290 made me a better shooter and, if not a better person, at least a happier one. It’s a whole lot of gun for such a little gun. Uncanny out-of-the-box accuracy elevates the P290 into the top tier of subcompact 9mm pistols
http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2011/07/ralph/gun-review-sig-sauer-p290/
If you are looking for a 9 mm deep-concealment gun, you should consider the SIG P290. But, you can’t just hold the gun in your hand at a local shop—you really have to shoot it to appreciate the brilliance of the design
http://www.shootingillustrated.com/index.php/13926/sig-sauer-p290/
The littlest 9mm pistol from Sig is a good one. I think that the folks at Sig Sauer made to right decision to rework their P290, and the resulting P290RS is one of the best sub-compact 9x19mm pistols currently on the market.
http://gunblast.com/SIG-P290RS.htm/
practice. A tall order, but based on the sample pistol I tested, the SIG Sauer P290 it hits all these benchmarks. SIG did a good job here with some subtle touches that don’t leap out at first (or even second) glance but greatly contribute to its shooting and handling characteristics.
http://gunsgunsguns.net/sig-sauer-p290/
Summary- Well so far so good. An excellent shooting, attractive looking, quality gun an no complaints thus far other than the dead sights (which is covered) and the price tag, which is my fault for paying it. If your in the market for a tiny 9mm I really like this one
http://tacticalgunreview.com/blog/2011/10/sig-sauer-p290-9mm/
To be honest, I didn't know if I was going to like the P290. As a fan of pocket pistols and deep-concealment firearms, I thought this pistol would be just a little too large to fit the bill. However, as I’ve cleaned it, carried it and shot it, this new SIG Sauer has grown on me. By moving it half a step over from the pocket pistol category to the sub-compact box, it’s clearly a pistol with an exceptional feature set—handling, power level and reliability—for a handgun of its size. I can see the P290 easily taking the place of some of the larger defensive handguns that I like, and possibly some of the smaller ones as well.
http://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/sig-p290-review/
So where does the P290 fit in? Simple. If you want something bigger than a .380, something easy to carry but that won’t pull you under if you hit soft ground, the P290 might be for you. If you are not enamored of cocked-and-locked carry, the P290 would move higher up your list. And if a striker-driven firing system does not set your heart a-pitter-pat, then the DAO of the P290 makes it perfect. 14. How many rounds a month (on average) do you put through your carry gun each month?  I usually put 100 - 200 rounds through mine.  So I am going to say 150.  It is a Sig P290 BTW.

SIG P290?

Love my P290. No issues and is very accurate for a micro 9
16. I should have mentioned I already have a Ruger MKIII and I do live it. This will be just another (something different) to add to the stable
17. What is the general opinion on the Sig p220 and p229 in 22lr? Is one better than the other? Are they reliable and accurate? How do they stack up against other "higher end" 22lrs like the CZ kadet, Beretta 87, or Kimber 1911? I would a good quality 22lr for plinking, but I am willing to spend $500-$800 to get one that will last my lifetime. My main consideration would be feeding all types of ammo and to be pretty accurate.
18. What calibers do you own guns for (that you do shoot at least once in a while) that you do NOT reload for? I just picked up an SKS and (with the help of some good people here) I have no plans to start reloading the 7.62x39
19. Thanks guys. It is interesting about the differences in the 357 and 45. I reload for both. I was thinking the 45 would have more power, but now I may reconsider the 357
20. Thanks for all the info guys. As far as the 24" vs the 20", I assumed the 24" would give me better accuracy and a little longer effective range. If it is just a marginal difference I might go with the 20". What is everyone's opinion on the accuracy and reach difference?
21. I grew up hunting on occasion and still do. When I do I have a multitude of family members with land and rifles. I am a handgun fanatic. I love shooting and collecting them. I have just never gotten around to getting a rifle. I have reached to point where I want one and feel I "need" one. (I do have a Ruger 10/22 so the rimfire rifle is covered) I reload and my favorite caliber is 45 colt. I am considering a Rossi 92 in 45 colt with a 24" barrel. What is everyone's opinon on this as a first rifle. My primary use for all firearms is fun and hobby, but self defense is important. I am pretty sure this gun would be a hoot to shoot, but how do you think it would stack up as an all purpose gun (100-150 yard hunting, self defense, SHTF [ I know those thread are frowned upon, but this would be part of the guns role]) Should I break down and get a AR or AK? I know both of those would have higher capacity and longer ranges. I am driving myself crazy trying to pick out my christmas present and I keep going back to the Rossi. Already reloading for 45 colt plays a big role in wanting this gun. ARs get a lot of hype and I am sure it is for a good reason. What are your thoughts?
22. Thanks guys
23. Currently I only reload for pistol calibers (on a Lee Classic Turret) Considering a AR15 or AK type rifle. Caliber wise does the .223 or 7.62x39 offer any advantages over each other? Things like price, avaliability of componets, brass life, ease of the reloading process. Any input would be appriciated.
24. LOL let me rephrase then. I did not have enough 45's. So I traded the SD9 for a Sig P250 in 45. Did love the SD9 though
25. Congrats it is a great gun. I had one for a while and really like it. I traded only because I just had too many 9mms. It is a very underrated gun IMHO
