  8. Hydrashoks are all made by Federal. That's their high end HP defense round. They make standard, +p, +p+, and low recoil Hydrashoks in .38 special. The low recoil rounds are supposed to have the ability to expand and penetrate better at lower velocities, like out of a short barrel gun....along with having less recoil.
  9. Thanks first, to you Bronker, for posting this here. All too often I tend to dwell upon my problems and forget about everything God has blessed me with. I didn't think I could have children, then at 36 years old, I gave birth to my son, Cameron. My pregnancy was a difficult one, and at 6 months I went into the hospital with complications. I'll never forget the horrible fear I experienced during that hospital stay. All my adult life, all I ever wanted was a child. I prayed to God countless times for many years to give me a child, especially a son. I was so scared that I would lose my baby, and afraid that I would never be able to get pregnant again if I did, especially at my age. God answered my prayers and I was able to carry my son full term and I'm now a proud mommy of a beautiful 3 year old baby boy. I thank God every day for him. He is my life and my greatest accomplishment. Ever since I found out about David and his wife Sandy's tragic loss, all I can think about is how wonderfully blessed I truly am. Then I think about how absolutely devastated and heartbroken David and Sandy must be. I can't think about it and not cry. Life is so fragile, and so uncertain. All we can do is trust in God and know that He is in control, and everything that happens is part of His master plan.

  17. I placed an order with them a couple weeks ago....got it last week. Took about a week and a half to get here. They do tell you right off the bat how long it's going to take and they were within the time they quoted. My beef with the order is that along with some ammo, I ordered an AK-47 mag.....it was in a plastic bag, but the oil it was covered in leaked out and soaked into two of my boxes of ammo (fairly pricey Speer HP's). They really should have wrapped the mag in some newspaper or something. I decided not to complain about it though.....I know they're swamped and are hurrying to get stuff out the door. The bullets were in a plastic tray inside the box and hadn't actually made contact with the oil....so I'm guessing it won't hurt anything.
  18. Getting a bit off topic....but I LOVE to hipshoot my .12 gauges!!! I think it's about the most fun shooting I've ever done.....second now only to my AK. I've hipshot even 3" shells with no problems at all. I think it actually hurts less (and I have arthritis pretty bad even)....just let the gun naturally move back a bit instead of trying to hold it still.
  19. You could try Mike's Gun Shop in Tazewell if you're in upper East TN. I went up there for the first time a couple weeks ago and was very impressed. Very nice shop, good selection, reasonable prices, and good people. The best online shop IMO is probably BudsGunShop.com.

  22. That's what I meant by "recharging" my old meprolights......putting in new vials instead of buying whole new sights. So it's cheaper to just go ahead and get new ones?
  23. My G23 came new with meprolight night sites and I've always like them. My problem is that they're about 10 years old now and they've faded considerably. Can someone tell me if I have to buy brand new sites or can my old ones be "recharged?"
  24. There are 3 different .38 ammos......38s&w, .38 Special, and .38 Super. Your gun takes .38 Special. Here's a link to some low recoil .38 special ammo: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=211732 Any ammo that says non corrosive will help keep your gun cleaner.....but all ammo will get your gun dirty to a certain extent. There's no ammo that I know of that won't blacken your gun a little. As far as difference in 125 or 130 grain (bullet weight).....from what I've heard and read.....the heavier bullet hits harder, but travels a bit slower.....the lighter bullet is faster (velocity) but doesn't hit as hard. As a general rule, for self defense I usually get the heavier grain bullets to acheive more knock down power. To me, there doesn't seem to be much noticable difference in recoil between different grains of the same caliber. Hope that helps a little
  25. Congrats on your 642! Were you able to find one without a lock? Ported guns have holes in the end of the muzzle on the top. I don't know the technical explanation, but it basically lets part of the "explosion" from the shot out the top of the muzzle through the "ports" instead of all the force coming out just the end of the muzzle.....which in turn makes the gun rise less when you shoot. Does that make sense? I hope so....maybe someone can chime in with a better explanation for you. If I were you I'd try shooting it with regular .38 loads and if you think it feels like it's rising too much when you shoot it, try the low recoil short barrel loads....I believe that will help with recoil as well as muzzle rise. I apologize, my son (3 yrs.) has been sick the last couple days or I would have already posted a link for you to those low recoil loads. I will try to find a link for you later today. Here's a link to low recoil .38 ammo: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=211732 Have fun with your new 642!
