does it have the crasamthaman (It's the flower they stamp the rifle with) on it?
Good try ... chrysanthemum.
Dang good question!

Had a little free time this afternoon and ventured out to GM to investigate this M1917.
What I found was an Eddystone that appeared to be all original: Eddystone receiver, barrel, stock and bolt. Did not get to tear the rifle down to analyze all the parts (most parts were marked on these).
The finish is a fairly dark black, which may be original? The serial number was stampled on the bottom, near the heel of the stock. A small oval brass plate is on the right side of the stock with the # 70. Original? I don't know.
Bore looks good with sharp rifling and gauges a 2 (I carried my CMP gauge out there)
Is it worth $599? Not to me. Although it appears original, some bubba drilled a hole on the face of the receiver somewhere between 1918 and now. It's not a complete hole, but kind of a half-hole on the receiver just above the bolt. Enough to obscure part of the E in Eddyston.

Moped, please do keep posting your sightings of the good stuff. That's the kinda stuff I like.
BTW, I have a review of Gander's M1917 on your other post.

wow.. all this negativity? Lets not rain all over the parade just yet.. I liked the transformers remake.
There's no Megan Fox in this one. Maybe that's the problem.

If John Milius is involved it has hope, but if you click through the cast in the link below you'll see that I think there will be a suckage factor to contend with.

I approve of Jennifer Grey's replacement. The rest of them look like a bunch of twits.

There's only one man fit to be King right now. I pray everyone down in Memphis gets out and votes in October. It's time you take that city back.
Jerry "The King" Lawler!

You flush the toilet, and relocate to the bedroom
No reading in my bedroom. I've got the real thing.

you can read on here
This ain't "literature".

At my house, I'd just grab my book and go to the other library.
That's alot of effort to relocate the reading materials to a strange place. But I did. All is good.

Here's a bad situation: It's 9:20 pm, the light bulb just burned out in the library, there are no replacements on hand, and you want to read for a few minutes.

The interior is Champagne "wit da bubbles".

you turd, that one is next on my list thanks to OhShoot. He let me fire his at Norris several weeks ago and I'm a believer. It will look just grand next to my 4" service model. I hope the gun fairy comes to my house, i think i will leave for awhile and see what happens!
There's one posted up in the classifieds as I type...

Looks like they set a shotgun off in there.
Several times.

This is true. You a damned liberal or something?
Nope, I just pay attention.

They are only interested if it mandates that every individual has insurance. It spreads the client base on a mandatory basis. They're exchanging that for their ability to pick and choose.
They know that sucking at the government teat will be an endless source of gold. AND, they know they can do things more effectively than a public-funded option that competes with them.
Exactly.

You say Gander Mountain?
If they want $599 something is wrong or they ripped off whoever traded it in. Both of which I assume to be true, knowing GM.
Value is all based on condition and manufacturer.

Take that Mary-pad off the stock! No telling what kind of damage that is doing to the wood.

help me with a discussion on handgun rights. I want to prove to this fool that guns don't kill people
IMHO, Tennessee HCP records are irrelevent in such an argument. If the debate is over guns in general, the correct statistics are the number of guns owners in the country as a whole. Correlate that with the number of fatal instances of a gun being used by law-abiding citizens.
You may find that it's more deadly to get into your car and drive to work.
BTW, I've been through this. When an anti-gunner's mind is made up, you can argue until you're blue in the face. Same goes for conservative vs. liberal, etc.
Just take'em out shooting!

If that had been a Bush event ....
If it had been a Bush event he would have been in a "Free Speech Zone" far, far away.

The 'mum is coveted as we mandated that it be ground off after the surrender. That is why it's fairly rare and gets a few extra $. The price you mentioned I have no opinion on. Don't know that much about Jap rifles.
