I'm just concerned that if Fred doesn't get the nomination, Rudy will.

Glad that works for you Reef. Boy, you caught an ugly burglar! Looks like he was fondling himself as he left.

Any time Saints. Just be glad I was wearing the 560s that day instead of my "tight fittin'" 505s.

I find that for concealed carry, the flatness of the handgun seems most important. (Not necessarily most narrow)

Here's the official version of why the sheet was changed from http://www.atf.treas.gov/press/2007press/083007atf-revises-federal-transaction-form.pdf FY-07-09 For Immediate Release Contacts: Thomas Klein//Kathryn Mattingly Aug. 30, 2007 (202) 927-8500 ATF REVISES FEDERAL FIREARMS TRANSACTION RECORD FORM WASHINGTON – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) reminds federal firearms licensees that effective Sept. 1 they must use the revised Firearms Transaction Record Part I – Over-the-Counter (ATF Form 4473). “In the immediate aftermath of the tragic events at Virginia Tech in April, many questions arose about whether the person responsible was prohibited under federal law from possessing a firearm and how the shooter passed the background check required before purchasing the two firearms used,†said ATF Acting Director Michael J. Sullivan. “ATF is clarifying this form in an effort to make it clear that any person who has been found by a court board or other lawful authority to be a danger to self or others is prohibited from purchasing a firearm or ammunition.†The form clarifies the question regarding “mental defectives†and incorporates the definitions of this term set forth in the regulations, 27 CFR 478.11. The revision also incorporates certain provisions of the Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-162) by adding “tribal offense†and “Tribal Law†to the definition of Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence. ATF is a principal law enforcement agency within the U.S. Department of Justice dedicated to preventing terrorism, reducing violent crime and protecting our nation. The men and women of ATF perform the dual responsibilities of enforcing federal criminal laws and regulating the firearms and explosives industries. More information on ATF and its programs and resources is at www.atf.gov.

I'd certainly try a PF-9 if I insisted on a 9mm for cc and didn't want to spring for a P7M8. But I'd buy a P3AT and a back pocket holster. Billfold goes in one pocket & the P3AT goes in the other. Dress with it in the morning and then forget it. Always with you if you need it and no hassle.

After trying about all the webcam programs out there, including finding cracks for a couple so I could properly evaluate them (don't tell anyone ), I finally found an application that does what I want. While it will let you put your webcam on the net, my need was for one that would just capture still images every x number of seconds to the local computer and then assemble them into a movie that I could watch to see if an animal had come around my wildlife feeding station (bird feeder with frequent invasions by squirrels, raccoons, cats and a chicken). I've just started using this one but it seems to do exactly what I need it to do. It has other features, like motion detection too. Haven't tried that yet. So the winner seems to be Yawcam. Cost? Free. For some reason, I have a feeling this is going to result in an upgrade of my old webcam. Runner up was TrackerCam, which is free, but it is pretty crippled without buying their TrackerPod software. Capture Studio Professional and WEBCAM32 deserve an honorable mention. Several of the webcam applications deserve a horrible-mention. Fwink, another freebie looks good to just get your webcam on the net. But Yawcam seems to do most of the job simply and well. Big thanks to those who helped!

Some time ago, I heard about the 17 HMR and thought to myself - self...why would anyone want something like that. Then I read more about it and discovered that the little speedy thing was actually a pretty good round. So I went out and bought a rifle in that caliber and confirned that it is really nice and functional. I've done pretty much the same thing for the 357 SIG cartridge. First thought was pretty much wondering what the big deal was. Just a faster 9mm. Then the more I studied it, the more I saw the advantages. You end up with a round with some advantages in speed, penetration and bullet flight over the 9mm and far better ballistics than the 40 S&W with increased penetration. Like any choice of round, there are tradeoffs. The average cop doesn't need the additional penetration over a 40. The average soldier doesn't need the extra bullet speed over a 9mm. But if you live on the edge between those disciplines, or in a LE realm where you need the penetration, the 357 SIG makes a lot of sense. And a gun designed for the characteristics of the round makes sense too.

Glocks are the opiate of the uninformed masses.

I've got a Shooting Chrony with printer, software, some extra parts, etc. that I'd part with. I was always very happy with it. Have access to some other equipment these days. I'll have to put together a description if anyone is interested in it. Just let me know. I used it in putting together my .308 accuracy load. Also have some gauges and stuff too that I no longer need.

I don't reload to save money. I reload for accuracy. But you can save money on quality ammunition.

I've shot SMG ammo from my Beretta 92SB. But I wouldn't want to do a steady diet of it. Sure you can use hot loads in a 9mm, but the standard loads in a 357 SIG will still be 100 fps faster - and 200+ fps faster than standard 9mm loads. The main advantage of a 9mm handgun is availability of ammo pretty much anywhere in the world. But some of that ammunition is pretty variable. Some is +P++ and some has "hard primers" that make a double-strike capability very desirable. That kind of ammunition is something a Glock can't handle. Glocks work for LE duty guns - but there are better choices. BTW. I owned a G23. I don't now. H&K doesn't authorize changing the barrels by the user. And yes, they go for the professional market. They are Germanic. What can I say.

Don't know much more I could add to those posts.

I think you made a good choice. I keep looking at them and will probably end up with a P2000 in 357 SIG to replace both the USP 40 and Beretta 92. I had a SIG P220 for a while. Liked it OK, but just didn't think it was special. I really want to like SIG better, but H&K is top of the line as far as I'm concerned.

How about a free Lorcin, or year-long vacation on Devil's Island?

I actually was a participant (subject) in an experiment like this in the late 60s at UT. All students had to participate. I never figured out why I, as an engineering student, had to do this except they didn't have to pay subjects this way. This irritated me.... Having a modicum of intelligence, I knew what they were doing and decided to skew the results by pretty much frying the person "taking the test" at every opportunity. Occasionally, I'd switch to just a mild "shock" when I'd been giving a terribly painful one just to confuse them. They are probably still trying to figure out whether they should call the authorities to have me locked up.

Well, congratulations on whatever it is that you won.

All of the Republican Senators - Frist, Thompson, Alexander, and Corker's jobs were to change or keep Tennessee's Senate seats non-liberal. They all did their job. Now Thompson's job is to keep the liberals from taking up residence in the White House in '09. That's liberals - not necessarily Democrats. I'll be working to help him succeed. If he gets the nomination, it will probably come down to Ohio. If he doesn't get the nomination....

The problem with most group buys on internet is that people want someone else to research the best price, spend their money and order the stuff and then arrange for payment and pickup from the other purchasers - at their convenience. Then you always have someone who whines because you bought something that they heard, from a friend of a friend, isn't all that good. Big PITA. But I do think an ammunition forum is a good idea.
-
Do we have to do a "Which is better - 9mm or 45 ACP" thread?
-
Haven't thought about this in a while. I think the "street price" was supposed to be around $2000. http://www.kel-tec.com/images/downloads/RFB_Flyer_SHOT_2007_web.pdf

Yep. Pretty smart, isn't it?

Oh yeah, there are lots of other shops. One is about 3 miles down the same road. But Top Notch was an old-style shop and the guy running it was, and is, a super guy. Someone with money should bankroll him for his own shop.
