  1. Thanks Tungsten. It does just as well on the bottom. I figured that would be a simple change, but that was really fast!
  2. Thanks Tungsten. Unfortunately, the application is no longer sold: However a quick search found me a neat hack site in France that has it. Their loss.
  3. Well David, maybe someone should take over leadership of the chapter who is a leader?
  4. I can easily remember the unfair treatment of Blacks just because of their skin color. The civil rights movement was needed and had moral authority. Today, groups like NAACP and Black activists seem more interested in preventing Blacks from being accountable for their actions than insuring equal treatment with the rest of society. Vick is a thug, regardless of his race. That's why he was charged. If it had been Payton Manning who was involved in dog fighting, he would have been charged just as quickly. Someone who inflicts pain on other defenseless creatures for his own entertainment is scum. I have no use for them and I object to their being allowed to breath the air of decent people.
  5. OK. Now for something really off topic for a gun board. I've had a webcam for years but never used it. don't know why I bought it. But I plugged it in yesterday and it still works. What I am looking for is an application that will let me take and save pictures every 5 minutes with the thing. It doesn't need to put the photos out where others can see them on the web. Just save them to incrementing files so I can check later and see what was happening outside my office window while I was gone. Do any of you know a killer app for this?
  6. I'd like to see a button or link to clear the New Posts history from the New Posts page and take us to the raw forum topics list. On another board that is called, "Mark all forums as read and return to index". It's in the blue bar on the New Posts page. To do that here, you have to go to the forum index (click on "Forums"), scroll down and click on "Mark Forums Read". Lots of times I've read the new stuff and want to clear the history so the next time I click on "New Posts" I don't see the stuff I've already read. In short, I just want a "Mark Forums Read" link at the top of the "New Posts" page.
  7. Well, this is now a racial issue. Just reinforces the stereotype.... http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law/08/22/vick/index.html?eref=rss_us NAACP official: Vick shouldn't be banned from NFL ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- The head of the Atlanta chapter of the NAACP said Wednesday that Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has made mistakes but that they should not cost him his football career with the NFL. NFL star Michael Vick has accepted an offer to plead guilty to conspiracy charges in a dogfighting case. Vick is expected to plead guilty Monday to federal conspiracy charges in an illegal dogfighting operation. R.L. White, president of the Atlanta chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said his organization does not condone dogfighting or any other illegal activity, but he told reporters that Vick should be given a chance to redeem himself. "In some instances, I believe Michael Vick has received more negative press than if he would've killed a human being," White said. "The way he is being persecuted, he wouldn't have been persecuted that much had he killed somebody." White said he believes Vick will cut a deal rather than roll the dice on a trial and take a chance on being found guilty, but "whatever he's done wrongly, he needs to pay for it. White also said he didn't understand the uproar over dogfighting, when hunting deer and other animals is perfectly acceptable. He urged the National Football League, the Atlanta Falcons and Vick's commercial sponsors not to dump the troubled athlete. "We feel that whatever the courts demand as a punishment for what he has done, once he has paid his debt to society, then he should be treated like any other person in the NFL," White said. Falcons owner Arthur Blank and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell have said they will not make a decision on Vick's future immediately. After Vick's indictment last month, Goodell ordered the quarterback not to report to training camp until the league completed its review of the case. The NFL is considering what, if any, sanctions it should impose on Vick. When Vick appears Monday in federal court in Richmond, Virginia, the details of his plea agreement will be made public. The judge in the case will have the final say over the plea agreement. The deal, if accepted by the judge, means the 27-year-old football star will avoid more serious charges that would have been considered by a grand jury that convened this week. Sources close to the case have said federal prosecutors offered to recommend an 18- to 36-month prison sentence for the suspended star quarterback for his alleged role in the dogfighting operation. Vick's attorneys were trying to reduce that to less than a year. Vick's three co-defendants in the dogfighting case already accepted agreements to plead guilty in exchange for reduced sentences. Court documents released last week showed that two of Vick's alleged partners said he helped kill dogs that didn't fight well and that the three men "executed approximately eight dogs" in ways that included hanging and drowning. The dogs were killed because they fared poorly in "testing" sessions in April at Vick's property in Virginia, where the dog fighting venture was based, according to documents released following guilty pleas from two co-defendants -- Purnell Peace, 35, of Virginia Beach, and Quanis Phillips, 28, of Atlanta. Peace and Phillips pleaded guilty Friday. A third man, Tony Taylor, 34, of Hampton, Virginia, pleaded guilty July 30. In the court documents, Peace and Phillips said that the money behind the Bad Newz Kennels dogfighting operation came "almost exclusively" from Vick, and they told prosecutors that other accusations in the 18-page indictment are true. My personal view is that any team or commercial sponsor that pays Vick should be boycotted right after they are soaked with water and electrocuted. Hey, it that wasn't cruel to the dogs, it isn't cruel to do that to them.
  8. Had to go over to the southeastern side of Bristol this morning. Right by the race track. The campgrounds are filling up fast. I'll try to stay away from there, and definitely not try to eat at a restaurant until the races are over this weekend. For any of you NAStyCAR fans who want to see the transformation of the track, and have WeatherBug change the location to zip code 37617 and click on the live cameras. You get the camera at the raceway. Click on the 365 day time lapse and you can see the track being torn up and rebuilt. Actually, it's about the same. It just isn't falling apart now and is a couple of feet wider in spots. 3:20 p.m. 8/22/2007 I haven't actually been to a race at the track in about 30 years, although I have been to other events there. Things have changed - like it taking four hours to get out of there after the race. The ticket price have risen a bit too. Thank you, I'll just watch in air conditioned comfort on TV.
  9. Congratulations! Now that you have it - use it!!! Eddie got busted by the video cops because he looks like he's 14.
  10. I'm betting that if you did carry that way, you'd get some looks but the public would figure you were OK. Might be different if you has MS 13 tattoos.
  11. Might I suggest a coup (of the TFA chapter - not the TGO board).
  12. Good idea. I think I'll try to remember to do that. BTW, anyone use Skype? I think getting the posted database up will be good. That's a primary reason I joined here. We could kick off all the people who use guns without hammers.
  13. I'd love to compare this to my Remington 700VS in 308. They look a lot alike.
  14. The DA trigger action on the H&K USP could definitely be better. That my only complaint about the handgun. But it did smooth out over time. The SA trigger is excellent and it is easy enough to carry the handgun more safely un-cocked and just cock the pistol when things look like they might get hot. If you get caught unaware (you shouldn't) then it works fine in DA mode. With typical trigger pulls of around 50# when the adrenalin starts flowing, you might not notice much difference. The DA trigger is much better on my Beretta 92SB.
  15. New York's lower crime rate probably comes from a much higher percentage of middle and upper economic class folks who insisted the city crack down on criminals some years ago rather than ignoring the problem as Philadelphia and other large cities have done. But this means having a lot of cops. With the socioeconomic realities of New York, they can afford them. Their solution doesn't transplant to Newark.
  16. No I just own the clips and ammunition. Just kidding. I think the Garand is a great weapon. Never have gotten "Garand thumb" either. And if we are getting picky about the name of the rifle, it's the "United States Rifle, Caliber .30, M1".
  17. I don't think it's possible to do that. While this makes sense, it gets into a lot of post hoc stuff that doesn't prove the cause and effect relationship between increased carry and lower crime. Frankly there are too many factors at work to make that correlation, IMHO. Also you would have to explain places like New York City that has relatively low crime and very few packers. The reason to pack is because it makes you safer, not because it makes society safer.
  18. I once talked to a young guy who was trying to find a job in our area. He lived in Charlotte and had just gotten married. During the ceremony some thugs came in and robbed the invited guests. If I'm in church (don't count on it) and someone comes in to rob us, I think I will be able to figure out who the good guys with guns are and who the bad guys are. Seems pretty pointless for me to tell the minister or anyone else I'm packing. They'll figure it out if the situation ever arrives for me to draw the handgun.
  19. I'd say more find a good system and stick with it.
  20. I'd rather wear the Glock hat than the UN cap.
  21. I have three loaded Garand clips sitting on my bookshelf right now. I can go test all the rifles for you, if you like.... I know two guys who were at Chosin Reservoir in Korea. One guy hated the M1 Carbine. The other guy, who lives in Bristol, seems to like it better.
  22. Just moving this to the non-sticky area. It will stay open for comment though.
  23. Considering that the last mention of the meeting on the TFA board was a question on August 1, I wouldn't count on a big crowd.
  24. I saved a copy of the avatar. Want me to post it?
