I have heard of and am interested in GSSF. I've heard something about discounts after a certain amount of time. What other benefits are there to joining? I also notice that they can take the Glock armorer courses. That is something I am very interested in, but is it something worth obtaining (certification) for an everyday Joe (ok my name is actually not Joe).

What is the best dumb cellphone and carrier in the Chatt area?
GlockSpock replied to a topic in General Chat
Well, they will work with most any Sprint phone (except iPhones). You can have your number ported to them for free (keeping your existing number). If you signup with that link above, you will get $25 off your phone order or your billing statement. If you already have a Sprint phone, it should be easy to try them. There are some issues with using a prepaid phone with them though, but they should be able to answer whether a certain phone will work if you provide the ESN. Lets say I go crazy one month and use twice what I expect to (1000 minutes, 2000 texts). It would only be ~35. It really is a good deal, and since you get free roaming to Verizon you generally get as good of service as Verizon (although "roaming" can be "odd" at times. It isn't a full-proof experience). -

Just for anyone that might be interested, I am extremely happy with Ting as as a "dumb phone" provider. 500 Minutes 1000 Text 0 Data <$25 a Month I've contacted them on quite a few "issues (questions)", and their support has responded very quickly and solved all of them. I kept my same number from Verizon. They also provide free voice and text roaming to Verizon, and it simply takes away from your tier that you choose. Everyone should at least take a look and see what their bill would be for your selected usage. It's not for everyone, but I am 100%, 10/10/ 5/5, and two thumbs up satisfied. -

Extreme Danger: Brady Liberal With A Gun
GlockSpock replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I wish no harm on anyone, but I do wish that someone that is planning on doing harm to someone attempt to do it to her. That way she could use it to defend herself and her child, and then maybe the light would click and she'd join our side. I doubt that it would "end well" if it were to happen. -
I've been wanting to get down there for IDPA, but I just haven't got around to it yet. I need to...I really need to.

To think someone was going to trade that Python for $100 gift card

I love the idea of the TruGlo TFO's, but I have my reservations about their construction and durability. I've read so many stories about the tubes falling out. If I knew that they would hold up, I'd probably go with them. I suppose what I'll do is see what Trijicon says tomorrow regarding a replacement. That (money) may be the determining factor!

LOL. I was actually taking a look at their RMR's earlier today. I'd like to try one someday!

Interesting. If you weren't in Nashville, I'd ask to take a look at them. I understand the benefit of having a wider open rear site, but the flip-side to that is it seems more difficult to me to center the front. I guess that's the different between defensive sights and target sights. I will certainly do some more research into them.

I am interested in the HD's. What makes you like them so much, and have you any experience with the Bright & Tough line?

Six months ago I went with the GL01's. Well I was shooting yesterday and doing mag change drills. When I do those, I place two rounds in each magazine, and see how quickly I can shoot those two rounds, drop the magazine, reload, and then get back on target. Well, after doing one of the reloads, I bring my gun back to get on target, and I'm missing a front sight! Seriously. The front sight was gone. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I didn't bump the sight on anything, I'm sure of that. I believe the bolt that holds the front sight to the slide broke (it seems awfully short now). My gunsmith (who installed the sights) seems to think this is what happened. I will be contacting Trijicon tomorrow. However, my gunsmith also keeps pushing TFO's. Well, I order everything from Amazon, and he mostly knows that. So it isn't necessarily him trying to sell me the sights, but it is what he recommends. He showed me a G31 with the TFO's on it. They do indeed look very nice. However, I have always been a Trijcon fan. Yet the little bolt sent by Trijicon seemed to have failed when the gun heated. So I am considering purchasing the TFO's and then if I get a replacement from Trijicon, I can sell the GL01's for a few bucks. But overall I feel Trijicon is better built than the TFO's. However that "feeling" is negated by the fact that the Trijicon's indeed broke! What do you all think?

I think we have sufficient evidence to suggest that nra37922 is from the future.

We are staying in a place on W Jones St. Been several times before (wasn't old enough for a HCP at the time though). I reckon Savannah isn't bad, just gotta pay attention to your surroundings. And the great thing is, gun buster signs don't mean anything in GA! Good thing he wasn't armed I suppose or he may have been out a firearm. Reckon we'll be careful and pay attention, and otherwise enjoy the place.

Go-Tube Waterproof Keychain Tube
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Just ended up using my SAK to cut off 1" or so. Now it is just tall enough for the two CR123's to fit. Great price, great device! -
I found these on a site called "Oscar Delta". They are nifty little devices. They ship from the UK, but I ended up paying $2.34 USD to buy one and have it shipped over here. I purchased it on 6/4/2013, and it got here today, so 9 days from the UK doesn't seem bad to me. The caps aren't "loose", but they don't resist being pulled off very well. I think some silicone, epoxy, or glue on one end to "seal it" would be good, and then maybe some electrical tape or one of those wide rubber bands on the other end to keep it fastened a bit better would be good. I bought my to carry two extra CR123's, and it seems it will fit that purpose fine. Honestly, it's just a peice of PVC pipe and two end fittings from somewhere, but for $2.34 shipped you cannot really go wrong. http://www.oscardelta.co.uk/Go_Tubes.html They sell a lot of neat stuff on their site, and they sell a "version" of the Go-Tube that is just two end caps, instead of one of the ends being for a keychain. It is called "Deep-Concealment", and I am not sure how much I wish to think about that.

I have decided to post it, here it is: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/66644-cz-p-01-9mm-w-w-mags-holster-grips/ I didn't realize I had invested that much into the platform...it started out cheap! -

GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
Well, short term the cash will go into a savings fund, long term (roughly a year from now) I'd like to come up with enough to make a downpayment on a house. Right now I'm signing another 12 month lease, and would like to have the funds available to not sign the lease next time around and purchase instead. Every 1k helps. As far as finding this pistol, I reckon I should be able to find one anytime I look, they just aren't really locally found like you can find a Glock 19 or the like. -

Not quite there yet. If I do wish to get rid of it, I'll put it in the forums. I keep seesawing between selling and keeping. I suppose what I might do is go and put everything "CZ P-01" related on a table, take pictures of it, add it up, and post it on here. If I receive an interesting trade offer, or cash price, I might bite. I myself am one of you, but we'll see. -
I might sell my CZ P-01. There, I said it. I might sell it because it is sitting around not ever getting played with. To be fair, my Glock only ever gets carried, she never gets any real attention either. But I am interested in selling my P-01. If I decide to, it'll go up on these forums. You'll see it. But here would be the reasons why: The CZ is much more complex than the Glock The CZ is heavier than the Glock, and arguably less durable (alloy frame, hammer vs striker, you all have heard this one before) The CZ has a lower capacity than the Glock If the CZ could sell for what I have in it, I would like to reallocate those funds towards purchasing a house It would be really neat to find a Glock 26, thus consolidating fully to the 9mm Glock platform However, here would be the reasons not to sell it: The CZ feels so wonderful in my hand The CZ is somewhat hard to find, and I'm not sure I could ever replace it I am afraid that I might regret it I am afraid guys. But after you look at the holster, magazines, sights, grips, etc, I just don't think I am getting that much "use" out of how much I've paid for it. Perhaps the market is up enough right now that I could pretty much break even with what I had. Perhaps I could even make a buck or two, though that wouldn't really be my main intention. However, I will admit, if I could come out $100 ahead that would be enticing. Do you all feel that it is still a sellers market for such an item? I'm not talking about trying to get 200% out of everything, but if I could do 100%-110% what I have in it, that would be appealing. I need therapy input?

Someone I work with gets more frustrated with the fact that Fox News keeps covering Benghazi "so much". This same person thought it was simply a bomb that went off, nothing more. This shows how much he knew about it in the first place even though they are covering it "so much". But I think the point I am trying to make is it seems some people (fearfully too many people) get more frustrated with the fact that these scandals are being reported rather than the fact that they are happening. I think it falls between apathy and ignorance for a very large amount of people. It is so frustrating to me because I feel everyone should take the responsibility of becoming educated regarding our country and becoming involved in the process that our country is ran. You all know this.

I don't know specifically in this case, but most the time in these cases it is due to one state's requirements no meeting the requirements of the other state. For example, in this case, Pennsylvania may not require "enough" safety training in Tennessee's eyes. It could be other reasons I suppose, but I have a feeling it has something to do with Pennsylvania's requirements for a HCP not meeting Tennessee's guidelines enough.

Will be going to Savannah at some point in the coming weeks. I am curious about concealed carry there. My research suggests in many ways it is better than TN. "No Gun" signs have no force of the law, and they have "restaurant" carry just like TN (you can carry in a restaurant that serves alcohol as long as you do not have a drink). I have done what research I can, I am curious if there is anything else that I should know that maybe I did not find. My big question is whether I even want to carry, it is going to be so hot and humid there this time of year, but only I can answer that and I believe the answer to be yes. Anything I should know about Georgia or Savannah?
