1. There are more Tennesseans than there are elected Tennesseans. If everyone organises and supports such a measure, it could happen. Same thing happened with the Alcohol Bill. I will reply to him later today. I have never went to a school for any reason in Alabama, but did read about carrying at one. Note that there doesn't seem to be weekly mass shootings at school in Alabama like some people would leave you to believe such a policy would create. .
2. First let me state that I feel it is a long shot for this to take place in TN. Yet, I feel that it wouldn't hurt trying. Earlier today I wrote my senator the following email:     He responded with this:     I did not realize that in Tennessee we had bill filling deadlines. I suppose that the next session begins next year? If so, perhaps we should take the time to organize and educate?
3. Exactly. Just because something a business does is unethical does not mean it should be illegal.
4.   It wouldn't be illegal to keep a firearm in your vehicle when parked in parking garages and parking lots, whereas now some lots are legally posted. Perhaps someday the same can be done for places of business, in a sense adopting the Alabama style law that basically says you can put up "No Guns" signs all you want, but it won't be illegal for people to ignore it. What it will be illegal for is if someone does carry onto your property and you ask them to leave and they don't leave. That's a trespassing issue.
5.   I'll bump up your 2nd Amendment rights if you don't mind restricting 1st Amendment rights in order to prevent CC vs OC debates;)
6. At first I fell into the mindset that this bill is worthless. Then I thought it through and I actually support it as is. Why? Two reasons:   1) This legally protects you parking in parking lots owned by private individuals. I've seen some parking garages legally posted. Although it's a shot in the dark, someone could legally be prosecuted for driving, parking, and then leaving their firearm in their car in one of these garages. My understanding is that this bill would make it legal to do so universally.   2) This is America. I believe that a private individual has the right to hire and fire for whatever reason they want. Are you a Tennessee Vols fan? Then you should be able to hire someone just because they are too. Did you hire someone and find that they are a Florida Gators fan? You should be able to fire them for no other reason than if you want to. If an employer wants to say "I want everyone here to drive a Ford or else you are fired because I want to be able to advertise that everyone I employ drives a Ford.", they should be able to do that. Why? Because it is their money. They earned the money. They choose who they give that money to in exchange for services. A prime example of this is that supposedly Coca Cola Bottling employees will be fired if they are caught drinking Pepsi branded drinks in public. Soda racism? You bet.   This bill is good because legally speaking, anyone will be able to keep a gun in their car at work. However, if an employer feels that their employees should not have firearms in their vehicles and an employee does anyway, then the employer should have a choice to say "I am not paying you anymore for your services here, end of story".    It's hairy because finding the meeting point between personal property and private business. Personally, I would like to see 2nd Amendment rights trump slightly over private business rights, but this bill is a step in the right direction. There are already "protections" regarding sex, age, race, etc. An employer cannot legally say "Take off your shirt or I'll fire you". That's a big no no. So there is obviously some exceptions as to what exactly an employer can and cannot require, and for what exactly an employer can and cannot fire you. What needs to happen, where applicable, is that mindsets change in companies. In my mind, it's a private issue, not a government issue. The mindsets of those that hire need to be educated regarding firearms.    Although I respect the work that LEO's do, I'll say this. Even though there are many, many, many cases of LEO's making poor decisions or even evil decisions and abusing their carrying of a firearm, you don't see businesses banding together and attempting to prohibit LEO's from carrying a weapon onto their premises. There is a sense of "faith" that LEO's are 100% accountable with firearms. The is a lack of "faith" that HCP's are 100% accountable with firearms. The truth is that LEO's are somewhere less than 100% accountable with firearms, and HCP's are somewhere over 0% accountable with firearms. In truth I would say that the "accountability" of the use and carry of firearms in dealing with LEO's and HCP's is probably very, very close. What needs to be done in this society is increase the amount of "faith" that employers have regarding the accountability of those with HCP's, and then "Parking Lot Bills" that protect employees from termination will not be needed.
7. Just as a heads up, the Senate bill is on schedule for the Judiciary Committee on 2/19. House bill has been assigned to Criminal Justice Committee.
8. Maybe he was using one of those cheap Chinese red dots and it broke. Didn't buy a BUIS when he had the chance and is now doing the best he can!
9. I really do wish that manufacturers and wholesalers would "band together" and all do this. Instead what I fear will happen is some will do it, and then Company X will say "Let's increase our market share by advertising in these states!".
10. Accident or not, this seems a very insensitive thing to say.
11.   I used to do this everyday until I lost it. I keep hoping I"ll find it. Now I'm carrying its bigger brother, the E2DL. When I have some spare change, I think I'll buy the EB1. It's the updated E1B, brighter (200 lumens).
12.   SWF files Flash files. They can be pretty tricky because they reference a lot of other files in the same local directory. If the thing is already hosted on a page, you should be able to link us all to that page and it be dandy.
13. My wife also says Cilantro is great for detoxifying heavy metal, which is good for me because I love the stuff and use it to supplement lettuce on sandwiches, etc!   http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/cilantro-chelation-therapy-heavy-metal-detox.html   Just a thought.
14. Dolomite, so I take it that over the next few weeks and months through your "cleanse" period, your lead levels should drop back to acceptable/normal with no major adverse longterm affects? Or is it too early to see?
15. Hahahahhaha http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/48948-todays-rant-is-about/   Generally, I agree with you Caster. Some people just don't understand that they get too close to others. Unless you know someone or in other circumstances, what reason does anyone have to touch anyone else?
16. I'm now seeing reports that he recently stole a car and exchanged gunfire while fleeing? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/02/12/fugitive-ex-cop-exchanges-fire-with-authorities-ap-source-says/   Also says that he allegedly burglarized a cabin and tied up a couple.   Would have been an awakening and ironic end had the couple had a loaded AR-15 when he attempted to burglarize them.
17.   2+2=5?   Nevermind...watched the next five seconds and realized that the speaker also made the connection to Orwell.
18. I've always wondered...how exactly does one test a nuclear device underground? Also...what does testing a nuclear device underground do to the water supply?
19. I am looking for a gear bag that I can use to hold my carry pistol, magazines, flashlight/s, batteries, ammo, cleaning kit, holster/s, etc. Optimally, I'd like to hold 2 medium sized pistols + a holster for each, 5 magazines (each), and a mix of other accessories.    Made in USA = A++ here.   I found this, and think it meets the bill:   http://www.laruetactical.com/4-gun-transport-bag   Open to suggestions, and does anyone have any experience with the above bag?
20. How ironic that right after I found ths USFA Zip, someone would be selling one in Nashville!   http://www.gunlistings.org/tennessee-gun-classifieds/nashville/all/131500/usfa_zip_for_sale_nib   I think retail is, as stated above, $199. They feel they'll get $500 for one. You could do 1 Ruger Mark II/III and a lot of ammo or even to Ruger's. :)   I'd like to shoot one.
21. His manifesto bothers me. It makes me wonder what is truly motivating the madness.   /Operation Northwoods. /Fast & Furious     Simply saying that I see it as a possibility.   I mean he's a former LEO. He knows how to buy guns and how to buy suppressors. Yet he is painting a picture that virtually anyone can buy these things anonymously over the internet.
22. I could be wrong, but I'm wondering if the price difference comes from the theory that SSDP's are less likely to have children? I think it is common knowledge that being unhealthy, for example smoking, raises your premium because you are more likely to get cancer and have other complications. I suppose statistically SSDP's are less likely to procreate (and much much less likely to procreate accidentally/unexpectedly). Sense they are less likely to procreate, they get cheaper insurance. Just like people that don't smoke get cheaper insurance. It astounded me how much more "maternity" coverage is for family insurance. Look it up. Perhaps the above for SSDP's doesn't include maternity insurance while family without SSDP does include maternity? At first it looks like discrimination. And although I'm not saying that it certainly appears discriminatory, I do think it calls for more investigation before everyone gets our their bullhorns.
23.   I've been doing that with not only medical insurance, but also car and rental insurance. I'm sure most people's gut reaction is to get the monthly premium to as cheap as possible. But then you quickly counteract that with acknowledging "Something like that actually could happen to me". At this point you realize you'd rather pay a few more bucks per month rather than face tens or even hundreds of thousands of bills. It is a very big decision.
24. This reminds me of something. When I was a kid, I used to run around our property and the woods behind our property. I remember finding a "pit" of what was essentially gold (garbage). Some clothes hangers (metal), maybe a few tin cans, and a few bullets. I seem to remember that it was probably a .22lr. All of it was buried probably a few inches under the ground. In all honesty I thought it was a monumental find. It was probably someone's makeshift shooting hole a few decades ago.
25.   I was thinking the same thing. For the "hardened" criminal, the greater the number of years they spend in prison, they are probably more likely to "not make it" compared to someone wearing a button up shirt to the office every week. Also consider the fact that it is very difficult for a hardened criminal to adjust to an honest living (harder time finding work, prejudices, etc), and then that makes them repeat offenders. As they get more desperate, they sometimes take more chances, eventually coming to the end of their shortened life expectancy.   Heresy says that the average US inmate has a higher standard of living that the majority of 3rd world countries, thus I think it has more to do with lifestyle instead of the living situation (prison).
