  1.   So what you are essentially saying is (unless someone came up with a revolutionary idea, such as a way to fuel a car from used soda cans), skip the patent, go straight to prototyping and funding, and then start selling?
  2. I have an idea of a gun related product that I would like to see manufactured but currently don't. Therefore, I have designed it myself. However, I am curious (intimidated) about patent information. I am far from revealing what the idea is. Honestly, I don't yet know if it is even something you could patent. In a nutshell, here is something I wonder about:   Lets say you have item A (in this case we will use a common everyday mug). Then you have item B (in this case we will use a carry handle from an AR-15). If you take A and combine it with B, can you patent it? This example is exactly what Joe (Bimmerfreak) has done with his BattleMug.   My conundrum (that I wonder about) is that my idea exists in a certain form on the market. Yet, my idea is exact specifications that would make item A work perfectly with items B and possibly C/D/Etc. Item A can already work with items B-Etc. However, my idea makes all of them play nice and efficiently.   I just wonder about things such as this, and whether they can be patented. Also, if it isn't something that can be patented, I suppose it could still be manufactured as long as it isn't violating other patents, right?   Ultimately, after my idea is "mine" and no one can steal it, I will probably use "Kickstarter" to propagate and fund it. There are a lot of specifics that I would like to discuss on here about it, but I still want it "mine" first. After that, perhaps I can gather input about what you all would like specifically. Hopefully this can work, but I have no experience in this field but have always wanted to "invent" something. Any input will be very greatly appreciated!
  3. I'd say it would be ironic if say a, completely random of course, group of guys came in their and started confronting the male members of the church aggressively. If they do not fight back, at least they practice what they preach. If they fight back, we the group of guys call them out on fighting back when they speak against stand your ground.
  4. My guess is a 10/22 Magnum?
  5. My wife and I are considering getting some bikes. They will be mainly used for recreation/exercise. I think a pair of mountain bikes would probably serve us the best. We plan on riding them on the greenway in Cleveland, but would also like the ability to take them off-road (whereas you typically couldn't with a road bike).   Neither of us know much about the different brands and styles, but I am interested in purchasing something that is a good combination of price/durability. I want something that will last, but not if it costs $2000. Price range is probably $200-$400 each, and if something is available towards the lower end of that range, the better!   For each "hobby" there is typically a product that most can agree with is a well built classic standard. For reloading that might be the Lee Classic, for .22 rifles it might be the 10/22, for "sporting arms" it might be the AR-15. What would the class standard be for a mountain bike?
  6. I was actually just looking at these myself. I've always heard great things about them. I just want them all!
  7.   Ha! I was trying to figure out how a 50 MPH bicycle could win such a thing, but I understand now. Honestly though, I still think I'd take the one I linked to...I am going to request a price:)
  8.   http://www.stealthelectricbikesunitedkingdom.com/bomber.html   Beautiful
  9. http://gearhungry.com   It ranges from billionaire luxury items to really neat items that you could actually use that cost merely a few bucks. It has a lot of products I had never thought of until now. The one that got me was a lenscap adapter that fits in the bipod mount on your DSLR. Take your lenscap off, attach it to the bottom of the camera!   Something else interesting is the generator built onto your bike that charges your phone:   http://gearhungry.com/2013/05/siva-cycle-atom.html   I'm thinking something like this and a large capacity iPod Touch/iPhone would be indispensable in SHTF. Neat alternative to solar for mobile devices!
  10. I've done it before (for technology related things), and currently run a few sites for a few friends. I am thinking something along the lines of a "cash and carry" website, where I give insight and tips for carrying a firearm (all related things to guns), and tips for saving money (in all aspects of life).    I was wanting www.cashandcarry.com, but it is taken!   Anyone on here have any suggestions for a domain name (that isn't taken)?    I'm excited about this idea...I just have roughly a $12 roadblock to starting it because I cannot think of a domain! So shoot all sorts of ideas!
  11. Isn't this a great instance to use some of the Aguila Colibri and a bolt rifle or revolver?
  12. For anyone that may be interested in purchasing this program, keep this in mind, I just received an email stating that the $39.99 sale ends Monday. So you only have a little bit more time that you can purchase it for $33.99! Then the cheapest you can get it will be $54:(
  13.   So you were able to easily use the rebate and the code to get it to $33.99? I thought that you could, but it just required hitting the right combination of buttons in the process of purchasing it:)
  14. Just another update:   Today I finally built up a full month's "buffer" in my checking account. This means I can successfully live on last months income, every month. For the two paychecks I received this month, I marked them as income for next month. Thus, I was able to budget for the entire month of August using the two paychecks I have earned this month. For the three paychecks I will receive in August, I will mark them as income available for September, and then budget September with those three paychecks.    This is as stress free as I have ever budgeted, because today I reached a point in which I no longer have to "shuffle" bills back and forth against future paychecks until I can figure out what combination works best for me. Now I simple pay bills when I get them, and actually have 80% of them or so setup on auto payment (which I never trusted, but now that I have a buffer I can fully trust it. Within the next week, I will have all my bills setup for auto payment. I will eventually get them set to all come out on the same day of the month, probably the 15th.   Now I get to create a Firearms category in YNAB. I'll use it as a broad category by which I put ammunition, firearms, accessories, etc in. :usa:   YNAB has easily "paid" for itself many times over by allowing me to very easily but strictly spend a calculated amount (which is of course less than I make). Perhaps it wouldn't have the same results for everyone, but for me it has greatly changed the way I do and view finances.   Has anyone else tried it? If so, has it made a difference in any significant ways?
  15. Reading things like this just leave me feeling violated.   :stunned:
  16. Not a movie, but my wife and I have been watching Prison Break on Netflix. For anyone that hasn't watched it, it is a pretty intense show.   SPOILER ALERT:   During lunch we watched most of the 2nd to last episode of season 2. Kellerman was going to commit suicide with his 1911. However, the gun "jammed". It showed the hammer falling so really it was just a FTF. That part didn't bother me as much as what he said afterwards. He was talking to his sister about the incident, and said that it was the 2nd time a gun in his life had "jammed", the first was during training for the first Gulf War.   It was mainly the suggestion that "professionals" don't have issues as such, because they are good enough to prevent them.   Also, as this is a great show, I don't want to read any spoilers on here myself.
  17. I know patents get in the way of all of this, but I would be a very happy person it Magpul would correctly make an AR-7. The current Henry Arms is close, but I am not quite satisfied with the polymer that the "stock" is made of. Magpul could pull it off. Mainly it is the way the "lid" attaches to the "stock".   If it were made of better polymer and had a more secure way of fastening closed, I'd go and buy one during lunch today!
  18. NSFW for some language, however it is mainly NSFW because I crack up laughing uncontrollably when I watch them.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evr_tP9cJWY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqgSSAh8Cqs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY9hRZDZcf8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbnMws6973k
  19. What I really want to know is what greedy SOB sold Holmes the gas to drive to the theater in the first place.
  20. I too am getting very close to reloading. I am actually reading the exact same book that you just bought. So far so good. Also, while price checking everything, I almost bit the bullet on one of those anniversary kits. However, a little bit more research and I decided not to. Here's why:   The Anniversary Kits have the "Challenger Breech". http://leeprecision.com/breech-lock-challenger-press.html   There is a better single stage made my Lee called the "Classic Breech". http://leeprecision.com/breech-lock-classic-cast.html   In a nutshell, the Challenger is some sort of alloy blend of materials, while the Classic Breech Cast is all iron and steel. It will probably end up costing you about $50 more or so overall to go with the Classic Breech Cast, but in my opinion it is money well spent. It will last a very long time. It is the press that many on here use and highly recommend.   The main difference between the "Classic Cast" and the "Breech Classic Cast" is that the latter allows for the use of your quick change bushings between dies. Those make it quicker to swap things up, and they also allow you to keep your dies set at the configuration that you want them, thus allowing you to duplicate loads extremely easy between batches. The "Breech" model is going to cost a bit more than the non-breech, but I feel it is going to be money well spent and will save you a lot of time in the long run.
  21. Wow. Just an update, they did actually end up refunding that $20.01, thus bringing my total purchase price to $33.99. Can't beat it. It will easily pay for it self tens and hundreds of times over.   They really are a great company.
  22. At first I figured that white would be a horrible color to paint an AR, then I saw the white and black contrast, and it might be one of the best looking AR's I've seen!
  23. Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar (3 Tablespoons) Raw Honey (1-2 Tablespoons) Ceylon Cinnamon (1/2 Teaspoon)   Drink
  24.   Exactly. Most of it is harmless (unless you have the CSI sort that can determine where you took the photo based upon the timestamp and shutter speed cross checked against weather data and cloud coverage for that day).
  25. The good thing about a lot of sights (Gunlistings.org, Craigslist I think) is that a lot of them remove the GPS metadata when a photo is uploaded. However, there are many instances in which many people have probably posted something for sale on forums in which the GPS metadata could have easily been found. Couple that with a thief, and you have a theft.   Everyone should investigate whether your camera/phone stores this data. Personally, I like this capability and it is great for so many things. However, just be knowledgeable and remove it anytime you send someone a photo of something you are trying to sale, etc.
