  1. Normally I am not one to start a thread concerning political or economical issues… but there is a first time for everything. So here we go. A friend of mine texted me one of those popular forwards that seem to be the latest fad in the world of wireless communication. Normally these forwards are jokes, pictures or some other humorous item. But in my opinion this latest one had some merit. It reads as follows “I have to pass a urine test for my job, just as a lot of folks in the U.S. have to do. I work hard and therefore my employer pays me. I pay my taxes and the U.S. government distributes my hard earned tax money as it sees fit. In order to continue to receive a paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test from time to time. I have no problem with this condition. That with which I do have a problem is the distribution of my hard earned tax money to people who do not have to pass a urine test. Shouldn’t a person have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check since I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a major problem with helping someone who is a lazy, drug-addicted freeloader. Can you imagine how much money the government would save if people were required to pass a urine test in order to get a public assistance check?†My question is this… why isn’t this a requirement? Am I being too simplistic? I thought the purpose of a government assistance check was not assist the person, not to support them! I fully understand that in order to test individuals it would cost money. But I would guess that the money saved on the people that fall into the above described category would probably pay for the testing. If I am wrong in this assumption would someone please point out my flawed way of thinking?
  2. Now THAT is what I am talking about when it comes to a 10/22 build!! Forget all the fancy, laminated, thumbhole stocks (no offense to those that have them) and the stainless parts.... your's is a beauty. Simple.... effective... and black!!
  3. Now we are talking my language!! The majority of sharpshooters seem to choose the .308 for a few reasons. 1. The ballistic coefficient is MUCH higher in a .308 and allows the bullet to hold a truer flight without being effected by cross winds. 2. The energy delivered by the larger 30 caliber bullets allows for a greater chance of a "one shot stop". The recoil of a .308 is mild (as compared to a .30-06) and allows for a quick follow up shot if required. When the military started taking bids for a semi-automatic sniping system, one of the first requirements was it had to be a large bore rifle. (Knights Armament won the contract but DPMS had/has an awesome weapon in their SASS) Just my opinion...........
  4. I am posting this inquiry for a friend. He owns this 20 ga. shotgun and was wondering what the value of it could be. I told him that if anyone would know it would be the TGO group. I have been unable to find anything about this weapon online. Any iinformation would help immensely. Thanks everyone. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn189/JimmyJoe69/IMG_0495.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn189/JimmyJoe69/IMG_0496.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn189/JimmyJoe69/IMG_0498.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn189/JimmyJoe69/IMG_0499.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn189/JimmyJoe69/IMG_0494.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn189/JimmyJoe69/IMG_0493.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn189/JimmyJoe69/IMG_0492.jpg

    Newbie AR build

I was going to build one... then I handled one of these at Guns and Leather..... OH BABY!!
  6. With all due respect Verbal... you are wrong. In the opening scene, the sniper and his spotter are on a cliff overlooking a road. During this scene, the sniper engages a helicopter using a Barrett .50 and he does in fact cycle the rifle after each round. The CheyTac is not used until later in the movie when he vaporizes a perfectly good can of Dinty Moore soup.... but I digress.
  7. I followed the video (and instructions) to the letter. My goal was just to get a better overall finish. The original parkerized just wasn't doing it for me. I wanted a real black on black look. I had another 1911 DuraCoated but did not want to go that route this time. Plus... I am one that can never leave well enough alone. I will see about finding a good "Before" shot.
  8. CADD Draftsman for a large pre-fabricated metal building company.
  9. I sometimes carry my 642CT and I LOVE IT!!
  10. I smell a best selling book in the making!!
  11. I am curious.... do the ignorant questions just happen over the phone or do they get asked in person too?
  12. Keep one eye on your vehicle at all times. I had a couple of friends of mine (that just happened to be brothers) that had their trucks broken into on the same day. The trucks were sitting side by side in broad daylight during a softball tournament when it happened.
  13. Springfield Armory Micro Compact (.45 ACP) or S&W Model 642CT (.38 Special with Crimson Trace grips).... both are carried in a weapon specific IWB holster.
  14. I looked at one but decided that if I were going to go with the Colt brand I would have chosen the Colt New Agent..... just a thought.
  15. I had issues at first too. Make sure that the http prefix on your link is not repeated (on there twice BEFORE the photo designation). If it is remove one of them and see what happens.
  16. For anyone who may be considering refinishing a weapon in Brownell's GunKote, here is a quick pic from my first refinish job.[/img]
  17. I know you just sold one.... I did not get in touch with you soon enough to see it firsthand to determine if I would want it. Since you are literally 'the next town over' it made my mistake even worse.
  18. Good point.... so let me put that item to bed. I would want it to be a .223.
  19. I would like to meet the 9 people that voted 'Yes'.
  20. I am SERIOUSLY considering building and/or buying a varmint rifle built on an AR-15 platform. It will be used primarily to hunt coyotes and groundhogs. I would prefer a heavy bull barrel no longer than 20". And I prefer accuracy over just sending bullets downrange. In your (TGO readers) opinion, what is the best manufacturer, setup, etc. for this purpose? Thanks in advance to anyone whom responds.
