  1. It has been reported by close associates that Pat Rogers died earlier today. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  2. 2 days, no answer to email from sharpsheaths.com  they mention possibly needing to send my knife in to them. I'm not likely to do that, nor wait 2 months. Paracord loops working OK so far. Sheath is less than ideal. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks for the replies so far. Still looking for an affordable solution. Meanwhile, I rigged my stock sheath with paracord loops and it's not too bad. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  4. Aimpoint PRO. No problem with anything human head size or larger at 300. Tank tough. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  5. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced horizontal sheath for a bk24? I found a couple online, but they were both much more expensive than the knife itself. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  6. Barrel treatment/ lining is the least consequential of the differences. And even that supposed we are talking about the original 5R melonite S&W. Highly unlikely. Check M4C threads for S&W Sport vs Colt 6720. Those threads will be MOST conclusive. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  7. Long/ short: Colt 6720 is a far superior carbine to even the hallowed 1st gen S&W Sport. Nothing WRONG with Sport as a "sport" gun. I recommend M4carbine.net for answers on AR topics. No opinions, no sport-oriented BS, just the sometimes hard truth from top professionals. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  8. Oh, and it's unlikely the OP was looking at one of the rare first Sports. I searched for over a year before finding a deal on one that had not been rebarrelled. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  9. All my guns are "defense tools" first. No FA nor dust cover is a DQ for anything but a fun gun. A 6720 is GTG and very, very few could wring superior performance from the 5R bbl. The markedly heavier 5R bbl. The superiority of melonite over chrome is an opinion. S&W ARs are overgassed and bolts are batch tested as opposed to individually HPT/ MI like the Colt. S&W includes a carbine buffer. Colt an H1. For possible serious use, I'm sticking with no comparison. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  10. Ooops, ↑a bit late to the party. Glad you got the Colt. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  11. There is NO comparison! Colt 6720 if the price difference was $250. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  12. SHOOT THE GUN! Don't worry about accessories except mags and ammo until you are very familiar and competent. During this time , think about what your needs are , especially as opposed to what your wants are. Depending on the role this rifle is intended to play , plan intelligently to buy once, cry once. 13. Thanks for the honest review. It's never a bad idea to be a late adopter of a new Ruger handgun. Let someone else be the beta tester and by yours after the recall is over. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  14. The standard mag release was a big factor for me. Every gun I buy is bought with an eye towards practical self defence use. I have hundreds of thousands of repetitions on a standard mag release. I see no reason to muddy those waters. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  15. A little over a year ago , I saw a PPQ M2 Navy edition at Dave's shooting supply in Red Bank ( the one near Subway on Dayton Boulevard. Not the one where Darr's used to be that had the no loaded guns sign on the door and where I refused to spend a dime) After shooting both, I went with the PPQ. I actually wanted to like the VP9 better because I like the idea of an inexpensive H&K. I shot them side by side at Bud's in Sevierville and, for me, the PPQ felt better in hand and the trigger was quite a bit better. The PPQ Navy was still in stock at Daves when I got back to town and I bought it immediately. It is hands down my favorite handgun all things considered. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  16. A top drawer .308 AR and matching glass is my only serious plan. A DD if I can. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  17. Give it back to them under warranty and buy a Bravo Company rifle. For the same price you'll get a first rate carbine built right. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  18. I'd go Glock 19 vs SR9c. I'd go S&W Shield 9mm vs G27. I would not consider a 40 for civilian carry. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  19. I've been a member of Hixson Shooter's Supply indoor range for about 15 years. yesterday, I stopped by for the first time in about a month to find the place stripped to the walls and some folks I had never seen before working on a remodel. Everybody seemed friendly enough, and the new owner honored my membership card. Unfortunately, I had been shooting for about 20 minutes when I was summarily run out of the range buy a couple of electricians who had no ear protection. Does anyone know anything about the plans for the new facility? I was mighty surprised to have not heard anything at all about the upcoming change from the previous owner Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  20. For the Chattanooga area, I agree with the recommendations for GT's - especially for long guns and Glocks (if you qualify for LE sales $398.00 w/ 3mags). I would add G&N Gun and Pawn on Lee Hwy. They have surprised me with their S&W availability and pricing on hot, new items like the M&P 15-22 when it was new. I'm not a big fan of the box stores, but Sportsman's Warehouse has gotten my business several times. Gotta keep an eye out for sales and arrive early.
  21. Isn't it great to have all those excellent options?! One thing though - I recently attended a Sig factory LE Armorer's course. Several LE agencies were represented, and the instructor was trying to determine which models to concentrate on to best represent different slide configurations, extractor types, etc. Anyway, he held up a Sig Pro and asked "Does anyone's Department issue this piece of ####?" No one responded. He stuck it back in the box, saying "Good!" This was a Sig master armorer instructor, so that really stuck with me.
  22. Thanks for the welcome, everyone. Hope all you fellow Chattanoogans are enjoying this beautiful weekend.
  23. Hi all! I'm a 50 year-old father, grandfather, husband and conservative libertarian gun nut. I love em all, but particularly like evil black rifles, semi-auto handguns, and rifles capable of altering physical conditions with great precision at enormous distances. I also have rarely met the 22 I didn't like. Lever guns and single action Rugers. too. Oh - and defensive shotguns of any kind. Crap! I've got it bad, huh? Aside from guns, I ride motorcycles, paddle canoes and kayaks, weight train, ride bicycles, read alot, and like to cook ('cause I don't like to clean). Glad to be here; hope to find some interesting conversation. Bill O. Reitz, II
