  1. I am waiting on some new mags so I can put some rounds through it within the next couple of weeks. I plan on putting another 250 rounds of FMJ and 100 JHP's before I make a decision on carry worthiness. I will keep you posted.
  2. Update: Range Report - I put the 1st 100 rounds downrange without a hiccup. I shot Atlanta Arms Reloads and Blazer Brass 230 grain FMJ. It is a very accurate gun and the sites are on the money from the factory. The factory seven round mag works fine and next time around I will try some JHP rounds to check for any feeding issues. Came home field stripped the gun, inspected, lubed, and everything looks as it should be. I will keep this post updated with any problems that I experience along the way. My only complaint is that this pistol has some rough/sharp edges in a couple of places that will need to be massaged out. Hopefully, I will get the opportunity to put another 100 rounds through it this weekend.
  3. Just need to locate some ammo and I will begin the range report!
  4. Turboniumoxide, It was $439 plus tax and background check. I think that Phil @ Bellshire Hardware can arrange shipping to you from Nashville. Obviously, it will cost you little more but it would only be a two hour drive for you from Chattanooga. TGO David, I have heard the same thing about many name brand 1911's. It is kind of a crap shoot when you get into a compact, but at least I will not have much invested and I wont feel so bad about taking out the jewelers files and making this one work the way I want it to. Thanks for the advice.

    Wish us luck

c.a.s. Did you have a written lease agreement with your landlord? If so, they are required to honor that lease agreement. If it was expired and they gave you proper notice then you are going to have to move. Proper notice is typically a 30-day notice or whatever term is spelled out in your lease agreement.
  6. So I was on Gunbroker.com the other evening when I got the urge to look for a budget 1911 variant. This fit the bill and low and behold the seller was in Nashville. That was obviously a sign so I had to buy it, right. If you have the urge just contact Phil at Bellshire Hardware and he can make it happen. He has several of these beauties in stock and ready to rock. I did not really know there were so many differences between the tactical model and the prior version. A few of the major improvements are a dovetail front sight, enhanced trigger, different grips, etc...It is my first 1911 and should be a great beginner platform. I will keep you updated on how she shoots.

    S&W Sigma .40VE

Ive got sigma 9mm first generation that was a birthday gift from my stepfather. It was his and it gave him fits, but I replaced the guide rod spring and polished the feed ramp and it has been 100% since then. I have shot it back to back with my G-19 and they are very similar and about half the expense. I would not have passed up that deal either.

    RIA 45

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then......when do I get lucky? If you're wife kicks you out just let me know and will take it off your hands or let you borrow my doghouse.

    RIA 45

Did you pick that up locally....I have been looking for an RIA compact.
  10. E-mails sent...so far I have a generic response from the Murfreesboro Mayor and one Coucilperson. The generic response from the councilperson references "what is best for the kids".The thing is I go to church with this person and know there are plenty of "us" that watch his kids while he and his wife enjoy the service. I will be sure to let him know my stance.
  11. Keep on topic and send those e-mails....lets let em hear from those of us who it will effect.
  12. Thanks for all of your help guys.....I met Flyfishtn today in Murfreesboro and did some parking lot gunsmithing. We figured it was better than taking the slide and MGW sight pusher into Jimmy Johns and doing it over a bite to eat. Thanks Again, Hunter.
  13. CAUTION!......be careful running magnets through your brass because magnetized brass will throw off the rotation of your bullet and glock does not recommend shooting rounds with extra magnetic force. It is a +P+M designation.
  14. If you go with 18/42 you probably would be able to keep the stock length chain and it is only a minor adjustment. It will more than likely only change your RPM's a little so if you are more concerned with keeping them down on the supeslab then you should be able to get away with losing a link or two depending on the adjusters and chain stretch.....always replace the chain and sprockets together...but I gather you knew that already.
  15. Thanks guys....I will touch base with you again when the sights get here. Hopefully, it will be early this week. I appreciate the help.
  16. Put all your requests in writing and keep all of the documents you receive from your employer......when you get it or give it in writing then it can not be ignored. Salaried employees often have intangibles such as benefits, retirement plans, etc...that hourly employees do not always qualify for....so you may not want envy those people too much when they get off early on Friday. Unfortunately the labor pool is filled with others without jobs who are willing to do what you do and likely for less money....I would say ride it out for the time being, but spend some time thinking about what you want out of this job and do not burn any bridges or chase the all mighty dollar.
  17. I have some night sights on the way and wondered if any of you fine gentlemen have a sight pusher I could borrow or do you suggest the delrin punch method? Thanks, Hunter
  18. Let me get the facts: Is this a century build? Is it new or used? If there are file marks on the mag catch then someone may have filed it to fit certain mags or you may have a magazine that has been modified so try several if you have them around. If that is not it then send it to century and have them take a peek.

    Building an AK

If cost is a factor then you may want to buy instead of build, but that being said I sure enjoy the build process. I used a nodak spud (nds-3) for a Romanian non G build in the past and they are very user friendly since the rails are pre-welded and the holes are pre-drilled and spot on in my case. The only down side is they are sold through an FFL like any firearm so it can be a little more costly that an unbent flat. Think about how you want to finish the rifle also. I spent about $35 to media blast and about $75 to get started on Duracoating which I never finished! Last but not least you may want to check out ar15.com's AK builder section. It was very helpful and full of ideas pictures. Have you seen any of the AMD-65 pistol builds? They are pretty sweet and are on my short list.
  20. I could cut it down the middle and sell one barrel and trigger to each of you to be fair of course. All joking aside it may be for sale in the near future and I will be sure to let each of you know if and when that happens. I have gathered a little more information on this particular gun and it is always interesting. It evidently entered through the port of Miami and was imported by F.I.E then re-sold as an E.R.A. I have also learned that there are a few companies that produce this exact shotgun on the same machines supposedly. Of course most of this information is compiled from other peoples posts and information so who knows.
  21. Fadex, I will leave it like it is so I can sell it to you when I am done with it! Hunter.
  22. I found out the front handguard slips right off with a lever underneath and my chop saw is keeping me up at night.....I will probably keep it as is but nothing is certain in life.
  23. It is a very easy pointing and light gun and it is not too long...26"...It is not choked or threaded and the sight is a simple brass bead.
  24. I stumbled across the opportunity to snatch up this little .410 and I was wondering what the heck I bought. One of those moments where I was a little unsure but went ahead and made a move. The best I can tell it is imported from Brazil by Firearms Import Exporters or FIE then as ERA? It is chambered in .410 up to 3" and is in good but not perfect shape. I have not had the opportunity to shoot it just yet but that is coming soon. I am debating on whether I would want to cut it down to a coach gun length or keep it stock. What is your best estimate on what this thing is worth on the open market....should I keep.....sell......chop.....???
