    Citizenship Test

18 of 20 here as well: Susan B Anthony and WWI president got me. Sadly, I suspect our scores are far higher than a vast majority of American citizens. I'm not surprised - those of us who are passionate about our right typically know from whence they came...
  2. Yah, I've tried tons of different guns over the years, but my G23 (sold) and my G22 (current) are by far my favs.
  3. I liked the part where the detective makes the point regarding Miranda: anything you say can be used against you, but not for you. I had never thought of that and it really kind of shook me - the system is set up so the police are the accused adversary. That's not meant as a bash in any way, I'm just saying that in the courtroom, the police work for the government, who is your adversary. I guess I'd not ever put 1+1 together before he said that.
  4. Nice, good to know. Guess I need to rent one on my next trip to the range...
  5. Nice pistol - been considering one for carry or some time now (instead of the rather bulky G22) - are you planning on carrying it? If so, please let us know what you think!
  6. Yah, definitely watch the whole thing - I didn't click the link as I recognized the detective and assumes it was the whole thing...
  7. And in the OP's story you'll have your wife as a witness and she'll cry "MAI BABY!" and you'll go home minus our defense funds.
  8. I saw this some time ago, great video. A really good reminder to lawyer up and plead the 5th (as I watch 'The Fugitive')...
  9. Welcome to the NRA! I was one of those who became convinced by posting that question on this very forum just a few weeks ago and I feel like I'm actually involved in the process now, instead of standing on the sidelines complaining about it. I'm going to try to be at the FoNRA meeting at RangeUSA this Tuesday - I'd like to meet and thank Blackburn for her veiws and efforts on our behalf. I also feel that just paying annual dues isn't enough - they need help as well as cash. Again, congrats on your decision, and thanks!
  10. The only way a dog as you described in the sitution you described gets 4' away from me is when inertia carries it's dead body to that point. A dog can cover 4' quicker than you can react...
  11. Well, I guess it depends on what he meant by 'use' (in 'common use'). Even amongst full automatic weapon owners, I'll bet only a small percentage of those owners actually us them commonly. A rifle that is used for hunting or a pistol that is used for SD will be used far more commonly. Dunno, just thinking aloud here...
  12. I'm no attorney, but I agree - I think this is a monumental victory that will help keep the anti-constitutionalists at bay for a while...
  13. Wow, did they change the video? He never said a word to her as far as I can tell...
  14. That will be up to the courts to decide, but skimming the opinion, it certainly looks like 'reasonable restriction' are meant as registration of said firearms. In several places the point is made that commonly used firearms are protected. You'd have a very hard time arguing that semi-automatic pistols are not 'commonly used firearms'.
  15. Well, based on the wording of the court's decision, they'll be back in court (and will lose) in short order.
  16. As an aside - this ruling shows how vitally important the upcoming presidential election is as Supreme Court appointments come from the executive branch. 5-4 is a narrow victory and could be side-lined later if we allow the Dems (specifically the gun-hater Obama) to take office...
  17. Eeeeenteresting...
  18. I don't think that statement means anything designed and used as a military weapon can be banned, but rather doesn't allow uncommon/specialized weapons to be covered under 2A. As I read it, pretty much any common weapon seems to fall under 'protection' with this decision, which I think woudl include the AR15 and AK47 (plus Glocks, Sigs, etc)...
  19. From page 58:
  20. Perhaps I've misread, but my interpretation is that you can now keep a loaded, unlocked gun in your house in DC...
  21. It might have already been mentioned, but page 55 of the opinion seems to close the door on future AWBs...
  22. Yah, somewhat disappointing, but considering this decision could quite literally have (in essence) erased the RKBA, it's a big win. First definitive decision from the SCOTUS on an individual's RKBA in US History!
  23. Some really brilliant (and funny) stuff in the opinion:
